welcome to faerune.

The microphone smelled like a beer, as Billy Joel would put it. Arlo stood at the stage with his guitar, singing something sad into the mic as he strummed. It was getting late and he was too drunk to remember the right words. When the song came to an end, he jumped off the stage and went straight for the bar, “not drunk enough. Keep them coming.” He slurred his words as he stumbled into the stool while his guitar banged off the bar. “You like the song?”
sanguineous-thorn:
“Everyone is born with their own talents. I love the piano, Billy Joel vibes and all that. “ Arlo dove off into his own rendition of Piano Man. “Thank you for the pickles. What do I owe you?”
Adonis chuckled. “Another show! Incredible, once again,” he hummed, returning back to the rhythmic repetition of scrubbing the bar. “And as I said earlier, on the house. Promise.” He winks.
“I do a lot of karaoke with my coworkers,” he admits finally, “but I don’t do much musically aside from those small ventures.”

sanguineous-thorn:
“Have you ever tried to make music?” Arlo asked as he placed his chin in his hands while his elbows rested on the bar. “I think I’ll take some fried pickles. Spears or chips? Oh what the hell, they are both pickles, right?” Arlo chuckled.
Adonis couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh, have I tried,” he responds. It’s more of a humming laugh than anything. “Bought myself a beautiful grand piano many moons ago, too many to count-- every song I ever tried to play has already been written, it seems. Or, better yet, I’d think it sounded horrendous when I did it, but it became the biggest hit of the next decade when someone else played it. That, and I never really was a master with songwriting, either. All of my lyrics were malformed haikus or better as some form of slam poetry.”
He nods at Arlo’s order, and scurries off for a moment, coming back with a platter of fried pickle chips. “My favorite. Good choice, young sir.”

“That’s the nicest way I have ever been cut off.” Arlo smiled lazily. He’d rather have more booze, but a meal didn’t sound half bad either. “On the house, How can I refuse?” Arlo brought the glass to his lips as the barkeep tapped his foot to the beat of his song.
“You musta really liked it. I’m glad somebody likes my music. I don’t want to be stuck serving overpriced expresso and giving music lessons forever. I guess we all have to pay our dues, though. So what do you got for a snack?”
Adonis offers Arlo a smile. “I love all music. Hearing the things people can create out of thin air... it always astounds me, you know? I wish I had the ability to do something like that.”
He sits his washcloth down and thinks for a moment. “Chips, pretzels, fries, fried pickles... a number of small snacks. Pick your poison!”

Adonis loved working at the bar. Music, people, lights, drinks; there was little he had to complain about. And, of course, seeing local performances was always a treat in his eyes. Despite living here for years now, he never got tired of the local nightlife.
Arlo eventually made his way over to the bar, demanding more drinks. It didn’t take a genius to see he was well over the proper limit. Raising an eyebrow and smirking kindly, Adonis chuckled. “Well, my good sir, I’d love to take you up on your request for more liquor, but given your words are slurring together, I’d feel much more comfortable giving you a glass of water and something to snack on. On the house.”
He begins pouring a glass of water, still tapping his foot to the residual beat from Arlo’s song. “And of course! I love all music, especially from our local talents. You’ve got a wonderous voice. I’d listen to your set all night if time weren’t such a finicky thing.”
;; sorry for being afk! i promise i’ll have a starter out shortly i’ve just been braindead lmao

“Yea. Totally down to respect the creatures trapped in here with me. Never had anything against them to begin with.”
“Tea sounds great.” She nodded slightly and chewed her lip to keep from smiling. ”I mean what could go possibly go wrong meeting a random man in the woods and following him back to his woodland cottage.” She shouldered her backpack and sighed. “Lead the way, man.”
x
Adonis couldn’t help but chuckle. “Now that you phrase it that way, I suppose my offer does sound rather foreboding. However, I can assure you, cross my heart, you’re safe in my hands. I would rather die before I let a single soul hurt anyone within this city.”
detectivegoldstein:

Ray looked around at the chaos that was unfolding. His attention went back to Adonis, expression turning serious as the wolf went back into work mode. “Did ya come to the party with anyone else?”
x
“No,” Adonis replied quickly. “It was just me. Is anyone hurt?”
He looked around at the crowds of people, watching the chaos; his heart fluttered in his chest, anxious and angry. “What the fuck is going on--?!”
mattiecline:
Mattie closed her eyes for a moment and began to try and calm herself down, she was glad that she was with somebody that understood what she was feeling so she wasn’t going through it alone.
“I have always thought crystals were beautiful things, but when they are keeping us locked away like an animal in a cage, I can’t stand them.” She admitted to him before her first smile in a while appeared on her lips. “I would like that very much, I need something to ease my anger.”
x
“As do I,” Adonis replied, teeth practically grinding at the circumstances. He could feel bloodlust in his fangs, in his bones. He ignored it.
“Feel free to follow me. My home is just this way.”
mattiecline:
“Hey don’t you worry about language around me. I understand how you feel, there are quite a few things that I would like to do aswell but I don’t think it’s the right time. I doubt that a warning for us all was part of their cut off the town from the rest of the world plan.”She explained as she wrapped her arms around herself.
“You know, I came to this town because I had felt caged before, and I wanted to star anew, have my own freedom, but now I feel like I am back in that cage and I don’t like it one bit. And the person who caused me to feel caged before may or may not be in town so I am,for lack of a better word…pissed” She said, anger starting to fill her words, trying to keep it together.
x
“I can’t imagine the extent of your rage,” Adonis hums. He’s practically trembling in anger. He plucks a flower from a bush beside him and sets it upon the bloody fur on the ground, a heat rushing through his veins as he swallows down his indignation.
“I can’t stand being within view of this goddamned wall.” He kicks it, feels it solidly under the toes of his shoe, and pulls back. No dents. “I imagine you can’t, either. Would you like to come into my home for a drink?”
sirihemmings-littlewolf:

“Respect everything?” She nodded and chewed her lip absently, “What exactly do you mean?” She took a look around. It felt like he was talking about the trees and the animals. He gave off that kind of ‘earthy tree-hugger’ vibe.
“I think I have a place to stay covered. Possibly. I still haven’t been introduced to anyone in the house I’m supposed to be stayin’ at but y’know I appreciate your offer and I will try to keep it in mind if I’m in a tight spot.”
She took a breath. “Sorry for rambling.” She nodded towards the blood splatter. “Makes me uneasy.” She took a deep breath and swallowed. The heavy scent made her mouth water. She needed to focus. She shook herself and tried to smile at the man.
x
“Respect everything... by that, I mean the animals. The plants. This city... sure, it is ours now-- er... sort of, but... it was always theirs, before. The animals have lived here long before us. All I ask is you respect them and the wildlife around here. Aside from that, you’re set.”
He can sense Siri’s nerves. Trying to soothe her, he approaches her and takes one of her hands, clasping it. “It makes me uneasy, as well... but I promise, darling, this home-- my home-- it is safe for you. Would you like tea? I can make us some.”
mattiecline:
Mattie kept her hand over her mouth as she listened to him, her heart breaking for the poor creature that had been caught by the jewels and her mind soon began to think of other creatures and it broke her heart.
“Messed up? Horrible? Making you want to scream at the top of your lungs?”She asked as she turned her attention to him. “I am doing alright but there are so many emotions inside of me that I am trying not to let out. This whole this is like they didn’t care if anybody got hurt or who had their homes or living destroyed because of these…things!”
x
“I know!”
Adonis’ anger lets out, then; it’s brief, but strong, a horrid and real anger that comes from his belly and practically sets the end of his hair on fire. Then, with a deep breath, it’s gone. For now.
“I know,” he repeats. “I can’t fucking-- pardon my language-- I can’t say or do anything to express just how... a warning would’ve at least smoothed this over, you know? It’s-- ugh.”
He runs a hand through his hair. He’s furious.

A safe place for animals that was secluded in the woods. She chewed her lip and looked down nervously.
“What about-” She took a sharp breath. ‘lost wolves? You ever work with them before?” She didn’t know why but she had a good feeling about this person. “Specifically ones named Siri.” She extended her hand and took a step closer.
“A new friend of mine has offered to help me learn but we need somewhere safe to conduct my…um…my training. Somewhere away from people.” She lowered her eyes to the ground.
x
Siri’s statement caught Adonis off guard; certainly not in a bad way, but given the circumstances, it wasn’t something he expected.
His eyes looked Siri up and down, ensuring her intentions were true. He could tell she was honest, and he offered a somber smile, taking her hand in his.
“You are more than welcome within my home whenever you’d like,” Adonis responded, voice soft. “Be it for a few minutes or many days. I have spare bedrooms and a plentiful woodland behind my home. All I ask, however, is that you respect everything you come across, yes?”
mattiecline:
Everything that was going on sent Mattie into a spin, she had no idea what was going on and she didn’t like it one bit. She was shocked, angry and upset but she wasn’t going to let that show. So she made her way into the woods to try and calm herself down, but it was no different there, the crystals were all around and the vampire felt like punching them in anger.
She was trying to cool off when something caught her attention, the scent of blood, although not human, it lingered in the air. She followed it to see such a horrible sight. “What happened here?” She said concern in her voice as she noticed somebody else near her.
x
Adonis heard footsteps emerging behind him, after a bit. He could sense they were like him, so his guard loosened.
“An animal was caught between the jewels,” comes his eventual response. “A deer, a rabbit, a wildcat... it’s hard to say from the fur alone. It’s... it’s so unfair.”
His voice cracks, and he gazes up towards the sky as though to force tears back into his eyes. “This whole fucking thing is...” He shakes his head. “H-how are you faring, dear?”
sirihemmings-littlewolf:
🐺
“Just-uh..” She furrowed her brow and shoved her hands deep into her pockets, “Just panickin’. I just got here the other day and now there aren’t really any options to leave if things go to shit.” She chewed her lip.
“What do you mean the animals know to come to you?” She arched an eyebrow and shifted uneasily on her feet.
x
Adonis shuffled on his feet. “It’s... it’s surreal, for newcomers, I’m sure. If you need anything at all, my doors are open for you.”
He noticed how Siri shifted on her toes, her expression changing; he softens a little, as though attempting to be reassuring. “Since my home is surrounded by woods, I tend to the creatures that get lost or injured here. Started with an injured bird many moons ago and now it’s become somewhat second nature of me. Most of the wildlife around here recognize my house as a place to seek help. In return for my assistance, they bring me small things. Like crows with jewels, the like...”
sirihemmings-littlewolf:
🐺
“Oh shit. Please tell me that’s animal blood.” She was going to vomit. She stopped a few feet away from the man.
“Didn’t mean to sneak up on you.” She motioned to the wall of crystal. “I was tryna see if there were any gaps along the wall. Y’know like thin spots that people could break through or a gap someone could fit through. There’s nothin’ that way. All pretty solid.” She threw a thumb over her shoulder. “Saw an impaled doe on some crystal shards a little ways back though. It was pretty gruesome.”
Siri’s presence behind Adonis startled him, slightly; it certainly did well to bring his focus back to reality, and tore his eyes away from the blood mere inches from him.
“It’s animal blood, my dear,” he responded, though his voice lacked its typical reassuring energy. “I... I’m hoping the animal didn’t suffer. A shame this had to happen... these poor innocent animals. They were the bystanders in that war...”
He finally looks up to Siri. She seems disheveled, obviously nauseous. “It’s quite alright. I... I should leave this place, anyways. Not the town, of course-- if the wall is impenetrable, I suppose there’s no way to do such a thing. And that doe... I’ll keep an eye out for them. The animals know to come to me if they need it. However, you seem ill. Are you alright?”

Ray was about to mention some games he’d spotted earlier, when a loud rumbling and the ground shaking shifted his attention. Holding out a hand to steady Adonis if needed. “Earthquake”, he barked out. “Move away from the trees and stalls,” the last part was yelled out for anyone within ear shot to listen and hopefully follow.
Leading the psychic, Ray gaped as the crystals erupted from the water. “The fuck?”
The rumbling caught Adonis’ attention, too. This town was known for oddities, but never quite disasters such as an earthquake; as soon as it was called to his attention, he instinctively took the hand beside him, as if it would somehow bond the earth back together.
It didn’t. Instead, crystals erupted from the cracks in the earth; brown eyes seemed to twinkle with fear.
“I... I don’t know,” comes his response. “I don’t know...”
