Listen… I hope this isn’t weird, but I feel like we’ve become good friends over the years. I would like you to have this. It’s a female purple frog [also known as the pig-nosed frog, Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis], one of only two members of the ancient family Nasikabatrachidae. They are endemic to the Western Ghats of India. This specimen was found in Chottuppara, Thrissur, by Joju Mukkattukara.

Does this female purple frog [Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis] even notice there’s a male there, or is she too busy being the most apex organism on the planet?
