to be honest though, I’m still hoping for a sweet and sincere proposal from sheldon like when he first said “i love you (too)” that prom re-do episode or the “you’re my heartworm” confession. i love all this domestication, i love seeing them practically newlyweds, but for all they’ve been through, i would love to see a proper proposal (with the added quirk and nerdiness and sincerity unique to the shamy couple). it would be a waste and disheartening if there wouldn’t be one.

Sheldon accepts and supports Amy for her fellowship at Princeton. To be fair, not even for a moment he has thought to ask her to stay. You have to take it, it’s important, he affirms immediately when he knows the news. He only needed time to come to terms with the idea of living without her for so long. He knows it’s going to be hard, and again, never considers to ask her to stay. But before she leaves, he just asks to be closer - being intimate. Even if it’s not her birthday, as their agreements establish, and making sure it is clear is not a last move to have her stay. I admit I was waiting for something like this from a while back then. I really hoped (more than a proposal tbh) that a day came when Sheldon wanted to make love with Amy totally in the spur of the moment. And so it has been, with the addition of the shy, awkward caresses, the sweet kisses, all leading to a frenzied lovemaking we even got to hear a bit…

This scene summarizes their relationship so well. Amy’s words in particular are so powerful. You all know Sheldon. He’s brilliant, funny, he can be extremely brave and he would do anything for the person he loves. But he is also childish, stubborn, he can be extremely selfish. Amy still loves him even so much, not despite his quirks and flaws but because of those. It’s the same for him: at the end, he asks her to put back her glasses because she ‘looks weird’. Earlier, she has used her shortsightedness as an example of a flaw of hers - but for him, she’s perfectly fine, glasses included. Oh, and don’t forget the little kiss on the cheek. It’s such an intimate and sweet gesture. Everything is so perfect in every detail: the way she leans on him, the way he moves up to her…

I was actually unsure to ever gif this moment. I know that’s mostly the mama bear in me that feels protective toward sweet Ames, but I felt so uncomfortable hearing her doubts and fears. Those tears didn’t help. I just wanted to hug her and reassure her, because her man loves her even so deeply even though he hasn’t put a ring on it yet (and in his defense, it wasn’t for lack of trying). Anyway, in the end I considered that I appreciate having the possibility to know more of how she feels, how supportive are the girls with each other, and the ending is objectively hilarious.

I didn’t gif the “Now put you glasses back on, you look weird” because I hit the 10 gif limit, not because it was the typical ‘last line that ruined the scene’. In fact, I think Sheldon telling Amy to put her glasses back on meant that not only does Sheldon accept and love her despite her flaws, but also that her flaws in some way make her better.
