I updated some things on the blog, and am probably going to continue updating little bits of info here and there, but will say so if thereâs anything major. The one thing Iâve updated on the rules page that Iâll say in this post is that I am comfortable, happy, and more-than willing to roleplay with multiple versions of the same character. So if you see me interacting with a character by someone else, who you also roleplay, thatâs no problem to me.
donât tell me âyou canât do thatâ âcause I will do that

âIâm⊠sorry?â
It had caught him off-guard, and he wasnât really sure what to say in response. Sure, other people always told him about to rest, but he never did. He never allowed himself to do so, because he wasnât supposed to be so selfish. Raidou was⊠definitely a piece of work. Maybe a messed up one, but a piece of work.Â
âI appreciate the concern, but I donât think I can afford to take any time off.â He added as an afterthought.Â
âNo apology needed, and thatâs nonsense if I ever heard it!âÂ
Narumiâs usual smile and relaxed demeanour returns, and he chuckles slightly. He wouldnât say it to his face, but he honestly felt that Raidou had a stick up his backside at times. The young summoner was far too serious for his age, and gave Narumi a run for his money in the maturity department. Perhaps it was why they made a good and balanced team.
âYou may be the Capitalâs protector, but the Herald left me in charge of looking out for you, not just providing you somewhere as a cover. Take the day off today and weâll head out somewhere, Bossâ orders. The Capital isnât going to burn down if you do.â
â @flynntstone
When he walks down the steps thereâs a rather strange looking gentleman standing outside of the building where the Narumi Detective Agency is housed. At least, Narumi hasnât seem him around, but something about his getup reminds him of his assistant, and for a moment he wonders if heâs a summoner from out of town. Narumiâs learnt not to judge people based on appearances alone -- a sweet dame he tried to pick-up had turned out to be a spider demon, of all things, after his own life -- but he canât shake the feeling that heâs not exactly what most folks around here would call ânormalâ.
âCan I help you?â
@thedetectiveofinaba
âNow, now, officer, cut me some slack. I know my agencyâs name means something around here, but holding me to the same standards as my founders is a little...â
This happened from time-to-time; certain police departments who knew of Narumiâs family history couldnât help but poke and prod him, tease him, even use his first name in such a way it felt like a mockery. This is why I keep most people on a last-name basis. âShouheiâ is strictly off limits. Â
It wasnât often that he visited in person, he was far too lazy most days and preferred phone calls (it was easier to hang up on people that way, harder to do so in a face-to-face conversation). Today was different though, after hearing about another heir to a certain family name. Apparently this one was younger than he was, and he was rather curious himself. Why not meet the fellow detective heâd more than likely cross paths with at some point anyway?
At least this way I can make myself be seen in a better light right off the bat...
coughing fits are playing up and Iâm suffering this evening, so thatâs it for tonight
also; another starter call! like this and Iâll work on a starter for you when Iâm back online
a hero
Thereâs more to summoning than being really, really ridiculously good looking

âIs⊠is something wrong?â
Raidou glances over, having picked up on the otherâs tone. He tries not to fidget, though with the little motions, the small twitches of his fingertips betraying that he had been extremely worried about Narumi in his absence. He would never actually say it, he always had to stick to the most rigid sorts of laws and traditions. It was a little heartbreaking how high of a standard he held himself to.Â
âListen, Raidou,â Narumi starts, lighting a cigarette and getting to his feet.
He takes a long drawl and puffs out the smoke away from where Raidouâs facing him, then takes a step forward and places a hand on his shoulder. Sometimes he forgets the person in front of him is the Capitalâs protector when he walks out the door on a case, into danger Narumiâs only really had a tiny taste of during all the big cases theyâve had, but on quiet days like this itâs at the forefront of his mind. âIf you ever need a break at all, a day to yourself, just say. You carry the world on your shoulders, and take it from someone who knows that itâs not good to burn yourself out.â And I worry are the words he leaves out. Too sappy for Narumiâs tastes, and the last thing he needs is Raidou thinking itâs because he doesnât think heâs capable when itâs quite the opposite.
kunaiflourish:
People donât usually take too much note of his existence so long as he had the Junes apron and they werenât in need of direction. Â As a result, Yosuke frequency heard peopleâs conversations while stocking shelves or cleaning tables around the food court like he is now. Â While he knows he shouldnât be eavesdropping, itâs not like he could ignore people talking loudly. Â Most conversations werenât even all that interesting.
The man on his phone isnât much different from the rest. Â At least, up until he puts it away and starts talking to himself. Â While Yosuke doesnât know anything about demons, personas and shadows were a different matter entirely.
Dragging a washcloth across a table, Yosuke stops midway and stares at the older male. Â No one should know about personas and shadows other than the rest of the Investigation Team. Â And he doubts anyone has mentioned either of those to anyone outside the group. Â
Itâs a little suspicious that the guy looking for shadows and personas came here. Â To their meeting spot, only a floor away from their entry point. Â But heâs not going to glean any information by staring at the guy. Â After setting everything down, Yosuke walks over to his table and sits across from him.
âSorry, I didnât mean to listen in, but um⊠shadows and personas⊠how do you know about those?â
Narumi has his head down, but as soon as the words he uttered to himself are spoken back to him -- shadows, personas -- his head shoots up so fast it almost gives him whiplash. No one else should know about that information. These things werenât normal; to Narumi, who liaised with the Herald and took Raidou under his wing as his apprentice, a devil summoner, it was just a normal day in the office... but to some kid in a rural town? It shouldnât have been possible.
Personas are different... The cat --Â the damn cat -- had laughed at the fact Narumi of all people had wound up being someone with that kind of potential, yet still not able to see a demon poltergeist that was messing around with his hat. At least they had both sides of the supernatural covered.
âThat game you young'uns like to play?â Narumi chooses his words carefully, âTell me; if something uses âagiâ, whatâs it likely weak against?âÂ
If the boy answers correctly, then this town has a lot more going on than he first thought, and heâll answer his initial question. The last thing he needs is to continue a conversation with someone who hasnât got a clue, only for someone who does to overhear him. Heâs already had this slip-up, and he doesnât need another one to get him in trouble.Â
He doesnât look like a fighter... then again, neither does Raidou. I shouldnât judge a book by its cover.
âGoddamn bugs going around, the last thing I need is to be coughing all the time.âÂ
Oh donât worry, Narumi, that will continue if you keep up the smoking habit.
mal-fortuna-juvat:
âNo, no trouble. Itâs been quiet.âÂ
He avoids the question about how he is. Itâs never been a question he is really good at answering. The room is spotless, showing that he has definitely been just cleaning the entire time.Â
âThat so?â
A quick look around the office has Narumi sighing; even the cigarette dish on his desk is sparkling in the light. A more-than thorough clean that thing needed, so itâs evident Raidou has gone to town. Itâs shameful, really, on Narumiâs part. One of the many things outside of Raidouâs remit. âYou certain?â he asks again, voice taking on a slight serious tone. Kid never reveals anything, even when Iâve had to bandage him up.
One thing you should know about me:                               I am very good                              at making very bad                                  decisions
Not around for long this evening, still ill, got an interview tomorrow as well, so itâs good night from me in this part of the world. Iâll get to starters when Iâm next online.
mal-fortuna-juvat:
âWell⊠this isnât the worst Iâve seen youâŠâÂ
Not encouraging, but he moved to start making coffee for the more than disheveled detective. âGet some rest.â
âThank goodness for that, eh?âÂ
But not the best. He can hear it, Raidou doesnât even need to say it. He moves, choosing to sit on the couch rather than at his desk this time. âWill do, but whoâs the Boss here, kid? Let me ask how you are. Not got into any trouble while I was away? Demons or otherwise?â
