“The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?”

Summer Sanctuary

A small herd of TGFRs have a brief respite during Höllvania's Summer.

I could show the other WIPs I made throughout painting this, but honestly this is the only one that matters. Since my discovery of the Höllvanian Zoo, also known as Princess Lucina Zoological Gardens, I have been enraptured by the animals we do not see.

There are so many animals that were at this zoo that had either escaped or were subsumed by the Techrot (RIP Ape Prelate, now Legacyte). Four of which had info boards, while the rest were banners hinting at what they were.

Now as you can see in the WIP above, I had to translate the Höllvanian language and Lo and Behold! It’s Tagfer’s ancestor!

The TGFR!!

I know we’ll probably never see these animals running around in Höllvania, but the idea never left me. It’s been something I’ve been wanting to do for ages now. Where they’ve found a quiet corner of the quarantined city to take a break in.

The size of their pen inside the zoo is pretty decent too, but can only hold a small number of them. So I figured if it was like any other zoo with a breeding program they would bring in a couple females for the bull and they maybe had the fawns before they escaped. Maybe after. Either way I wanted to show them surviving.

I want to put together a Get Well Soon card for her, and have as many people as possible sign it during Tennocon! I don't just want to have a blank or generic card though, but instead create a collage of artwork from lots of Tenno, and that's where you come in. Send over a drawing/captura of your Operator/Drifter wishing the Lotus well!

I will be creating a collage of everyone's art and printing a giant "Get Well Soon" card to hand to someone from the DE team at Tennocon to hopefully get to Rebb! (And by giant I mean giant, the paper is about 13x19" big!)

And some (mostly) technical guidelines for your artwork under the cut:

-Any 2d medium is welcome! 

-Pick any pose you like as long as it fits within the maximum image size! 

-For digital art please save it as a .png with transparent background

-Try to keep your canvas to a maximum size of 700x1000px, at 300dpi

-For traditional art please send a scan if possible and keep the background of your drawing either white or light purple

-For captura ideally use the Color Key scene with the top left Lotus Palette purple as background, or alternatively the Chamber of the Lotus scene. If you can send your captura as a transparent background .png even better, but if not I'll cut the background out for you. 

-Absolutely NO AI. Don't be disrespectful.

-Please don't add any text to your drawing! It makes putting together the collage more difficult.

I am so happy I managed to finish this one in time🫡 it is definitely one of the most detailed paintings I have made so far.

It is safe to say this game has taken over my life. I started playing somewhat recently, but I have been absolutely loving it.

I am super excited to participate in my first warframe related contest, this community has been absolutely amazing♡

Lizzie WIP: She lives!!

Progress update: Necks and bridges are all aligned and attached. Bass tuning knobs were defective and need replacing. Guitar action needs lowering and one string's length needs adjusted. Wiring still needs hooking up and testing. Then back to the cosmetic work.

Took me a lil to sit down and post this on socials after submitting to the showcase oop

I didn't have enough time or willpower to make something larger and more ambitious for this year's showcase, but I did find just enough to brush up an already-made piece/sketch from the past year. I picked out four options to choose from:

And ultimately, BODY THE PISTOL won out. I feel good about the choice I made, even if it's a bigger stretch of an idea to try and get a femtanyl reference into the damn TennoCon showcase lmao

This has ended up being a fairly indulgent/cathartic piece for me. I tried to tap into some of my own anger and frustration as of late, especially this year so far (fuck ice), that I've largely associated with listening to copious amounts of femtanyl lol. While I couldn't make something large and ambitious and more celebratory of Warframe as a whole for this showcase, I could sure as hell build on this angry doodle from two months ago
