it always pains me a bit to see people interpret dan heng as someone with no artistic or creative ability. he’s an avid photographer with a good eye for composition and is said by march to be especially good with lighting; he sketches scenes from memory in his notebook, at least one of which was shown to and correctly interpreted by another member of the crew, so take that as you will; we saw him playing a leaf flute in amphoreus; he’s an acclaimed writer (albeit mostly for scientific articles, but still); he was able to revise himeko’s terrifying recipe into an entirely new, edible dish on a whim; he does calligraphy, and even spoke of its connection to the deep emotions buried within human hearts…

not to mention the implications of dan feng being a singer/dancer anyways. talented guy

we don't actually know how transcending Paths works but I'm already wondering if the Path of Permanence might have been transcended at some point in the past.

There's not really any evidence for this, but with what we know about the Permanence it seems to be a Path incapable of having an Aeon. Because Aeons aren't born that way, they ascend from all kinds of other beings. Any potential Aeon of Permanence would probably resist their ascension, because to become an Aeon is to lose all that you are and all that you have, which is something someone who embodies the Permanence enough to become its Aeon would not do.

Except, there was an Aeon of Permanence, ages ago. We know for sure that the Path was reshaped as it was partially consumed by Tazzyronth's ascension, but maybe it was also transcended, and had its concept altered in some way.

This is where my assumption that Dan Heng is inspired by Xie Lian comes in. For those not familiar with Heaven Official's Blessing, Xie Lian ascended to godhood a total of three times- he was banished from heaven after his first ascension due to violating divine law due to his love for mortals (sound familiar?), voluntarily left after his second ascension, again, because even after doing terrible things he held on to his faith in mortals, and then his third ascension was completely by accident and happened due to him becoming the god of something he was passionate about (collecting junk).

My theory is that Dan Heng has already ascended twice- once as the Aeon Long (that's right we're doing the Dan-Heng-is-Long's-reincarnation theory again), a second time that involved both him transcending and somehow altering the Path of Permanence, and subsequently being reborn as a Vidyadhara, and that his third ascension has yet to happen. If we're following the Xie Lian parallel, than this third ascension should be related the the life he chose for himself after being exiled- in other words, the Trailblaze.
