Covet Drabble

What Neeko wanted was obvious. She wanted her sho’ma back! Or more of it, anyway! She hadn’t lost it, but she could no longer reach out with it, and had trouble sensing everyone elses. This was extremely limiting, especially when it came to communication.

So for a moment, upon opening her gift box, it all seemed like a joke. A funny game! An empty box for Neeko, isn’t that silly? But Neeko wasn’t going to let it get Neeko down! She could find uses for an empty box.

But suddenly she felt... freer? More in tune with her surroundings. As if she could hear and see more clearly now, though it wasn’t with her eyes and ears, but rather her spiritual essence. Her roommates, she could reach out to them! One of them was very orange, bitter taste... what was that about, Neeko wondered?

Neeko had to go out immediately, back into the city! All those people! All those experiences and memories that she could finally feel and see and taste again! Oh, there was no time to waste.

Meme day is over and that means I can post an rp ad without it getting lost in the flood! So here is one for Neeko, local chameleon with way too much curiosity that will surely get her in trouble one day (again).

She was starting to look a little confused, but the moment she started laughing and indicated that this was their meeting the look melted into a smile, Nami unable to hold back a laugh of her own. 

“Oh, you are cute! It’s a pleasure to meet you, Neeko.”

Tidecaller. When that was mentioned her smile faltered for just a moment, grasping the eponymous staff a little tighter as it leaned against her body. It had been a little while since she’d heard that. But momentary it was and Nami smiled again, twirling one of her hands to end in flourish as she bowed. A liquid likeness of Neeko appeared above her palm who also bowed, then burst into vapour.

“At your service.”

“You are from Runeterra, then? It feels like I’ve been gone for so long.” But there was no trace of sadness or regret in voice “Well I don’t see why not! Are you new here, Neeko?” 

It was a pleasure for Nami to meet Neeko? That was so good to hear! “Neeko loves to hear that! Been wanting to meet you for a long time.”

So much so, that she’s even asked if people knew Nami before, to hopefully meet her. And now that she was here, she wasn’t sure what to say! She hadn’t planned this far. She made a soft oooh sound at the little water display.

“You can mimic Neeko too! But... smaller, and more watery. Still good.”

She was a little confused at the name Runeterra. If only she could use her sho’ma! But she went on regardless. “Very new! Very... frightening? A little bit. But also very, very exciting! Neeko has been exploring...”

She opened her arms out to the sides, wide grin on her face. “Everywhere! Some humans are... not so nice.”

Dark eyes widened as an unfamiliar figure came bounding up to her with no small amount of enthusiasm. Nami has just started to edge herself backwards to try and lessen the impact, but thankfully the girl stopped just before the impact. Pretty close too. 

“-Oh. Hello..?”

Well wasn’t she a colourful character. And that tail! So long… 

“Uhm, yes, I’m Nami.” She tilted her head, face in thought as she looked her over “I’m sorry, but have we met? You know my name but I don’t know yours… Unless it’s Neeko.” She laughed a little apologetically, scratching the back of her head for a moment. “I am free though. Can I help you?”

“Hello! I am Neeko, and we have met!” And she was so excited about it, she felt like laughing. So she did! Precious giggles bubbling up. “Just now!”

She stood up straighter on her legs to more match Nami’s height. She was looking at her almost literally with hearts in her eyes.

“You are the Tidecaller!” she said, as if that should be the most obvious reason that she’s heard of Nami. “Maybe spend time together? You seem nice!”

And much prettier in person!

“No way!”

Neeko was sure of it! That staff, that form! That must be Nami. A Vastaya! Here! And it was Nami! Neeko bounded towards her, coming to a halt close enough that Nami might have thought Neeko was going to run straight into her.

“Neeko has heard about you!”

She was all smiles, locking eyes with Nami, and really wishing she could reach out to her with her sho’ma right now! “Is Nami free, maybe?”

This was... a new place! A very new place. Loud noises, very fast moving.... metal boxes? Bubbles? They were so many shapes! This place was wholly unfamiliar to Neeko. Exciting, in a way! Dangerous, in other ways, she thought as she peered down into the chasm she woke up next to. When did she fall asleep?

One thing became very apparent, the moment she tried to reach out with her sho’ma and take on another’s form to blend in. She... couldn’t. Her sho’ma was limited, her aura unable to stretch and reach for another’s. “Okay... Neeko will do this the old fashioned way.”

Which consisted of her trying to mimic the posture and gait of someone else, a pretty girl she saw walking down the road. It wasn’t as good as being her, but it was good enough to get her to the cab that was waiting for her, even if she did feel silly.

She was worried, about her sho’ma being so restrained, so limited! And the fact that this was all so new! But with those worries came curiosities. Where was she? Where is all the greenery? What can she eat? Neeko was going to find out!
