I think I’m loosing brain cells every time I talk with someone on Reddit about Glinda :

Can we have a normal conversation about Glinda (and Fiyero) for once? Can we talk about how much she sucks and why she sucks? And about how she was in love with Elphaba?

sometimes I remember that during one short day elphaba and glinda were planning on moving to emerald city together after finishing school and I feel like I've been shot 37 times in the chest

The thing about Glinda and Elphaba is that they both want the same thing. To feel important and to feel like they're a good person. Which sure, can sound quite selfish when I put it like that but literally everyone wants those things sooo

But the difference is that Glinda can only feel like she's good when she has reassurance from other people. But Elphaba never had that until Glinda. So the only way that she's learned to feel good about herself is by following her moral compass and by doing what she believes to be right. To feel like you're doing something good Vs figuring out how to keep being told that you are. Or something.

Which is one of the many reasons that makes the ending so tragic, because neither of them get what they want. If Glinda were to do what she now knows to be the right thing, she'd be hated for it. And even when she helps Oz, she won't have the reassurance from Elphaba, the person who's opinion she cares most about.

And Elphaba will never get to save Oz and help the Animals like Glinda can, because no matter what she does people will always see her as Wicked. People always talk about how the ending sucks for Glinda, but it sucks just as badly for Elphaba.

Post Wfg, Elphaba will always live with the guilt for leaving her cause behind and guilt that she couldn't help as much as she wanted to. (Also for leaving Glinda and not being able to save her sister and turning Johnathan Bailey into Johnathan Barley. Or Johnathan hay bale-ey if you will) All round guilt pretty much. All round bad time. And Glinda will always live with the fear that she's a bad person, and what she's doing isn't enough. And that's not even mentioning either of their sad gay stuff!! So like...
