toji fushiguro calming his anxious wife down (・>ďš<)
youâre curled up on the couch, your knees pressed to your body as you chew on your lip nervously. the motion is almost mechanical, and by now your lip is sore from continuously tugging at the skin with your teeth, yet you canât stop. not with all thatâs going on in your head. not with the sheer noise of it all.
your mind is too much, too loud, and every thought feels so heavy and inescapable to the point where youâre suffocating in your own mind.
in your nervous haze, you barely even register the sofa sinking with the weight of your husband settling himself by your side. the action is lazy, comfortable, and he wraps a large arm around your side, oblivious to your internal conflict.
just when tojiâs about to speak up, probably to complain idly about his day just to break the silence, he feels your hand tighten on his t-shirt. he pauses, glancing down to see that youâre not making eye contact. he notes that you seem strangely quiet, your face lowered and your grip on him persistent, almost as though to ground yourself.
âhey, whatâs this all about, huh?â he asks with a smirk, voice rough and half-teasing, but the second he tilts your chin up he pauses at the sight of tears.
he falters for a second: his usual confident, teasing demeanour melts immediately upon seeing your lashes heavy with unshed tears. your eyes are wide, and you look so vulnerable and nervous that it physically pains him. your lip trembles as you struggle with your words, but before you can try to speak or justify yourself, toji cuts you off.
â..whatâs wrong, pretty?â he murmurs, stroking your chin with his finger. he rubs little soothing circles just below your mouth before lifting his hand to rest next to your lips, noticing the way youâre subconsciously chewing on them. he frowns a little.
âdonât do that. itâs not good,â toji scolds, but thereâs no real anger in his voice. gently, he tugs your bottom lip free from your teeth before speaking. âtalk to me. what happened?â
the tone of his voice is uncharacteristically soft, and it makes your heart flutter momentarily at the fact that tojiâs gentleness only ever seems to be reserved for you.
you sniff, wiping your tears away with your sleeve, and shake your head.
âiâŚdonât think i want to talk about it,â you mumble, eyes flicking back down to your lap. something about his gaze boring into yours, his scarred mouth parted and those harsh eyes focused so intensely on you, makes you unable to maintain eye contact without a sense of embarrassment or shame creeping up your neck. you feel disarmed, stripped of your defences, and the vulnerability is terrifying. so instead, you simply focus on your hands in your lap, trying to calm yourself down as best as you can.
âthatâs okay. donât have to talk.â toji shifts his position a little, guiding you to rest in his embrace, your head buried in the crook of his neck. you let out a tiny sigh contentedly, trying to direct your focus away from your worries and onto the grounding feeling of tojiâs warmth, of his familiar scent, of the feeling of his chest rising and falling beneath you.
it should be comforting but instead the familiar feeling of being in your husbandâs arms combined with the recent stress seems to break you down entirely, eroding all your defences. before you can stop yourself or even understand why or how, youâre crying against him, burying your face further into his neck in an attempt to hide yourself.
it isnât that you havenât cried in front of toji before, rather that thereâs so much to explain this time â so much that youâre not even sure how to explain â that you find yourself curling even further into him in an attempt to hide your sobs.
you stay like that, clinging to toji tearfully in an attempt to soothe the dreadful nervousness in your body. you try to redirect your attention to the feeling of his hand on your back, to the sensation of his smooth arm wrapped around you.
toji doesnât complain when your tear-stained cheeks dampen his t-shirt, nor when you cling to him for so long that his neck begins to cramp. he just stays there, a single large hand running up and down your back soothingly in small circles.
after a short while, your grip on him loosens a little, and he feels you pull your face away from his neck. you try not to make eye contact, too embarrassed to meet his gaze. tojiâs the kind to deescalate a situation with a teasing joke or two, and youâre not sure you can really handle that after the weight of the moment youâve just shared with him. but when you meet his gaze, youâre not met with that familiar smirk of his, nor with a laugh or joke. youâre met with concern.
his face looks softer now, nothing like the harsh features youâre used to, and his eyes meet yours almost tenderly.
âfeeling better?â he asks, the words carrying a hint of concern.
you nod.
âitâs nothing. i was just spiralling,â you sigh dismissively. you assume â hope, even â that the conversation will end there, that toji wonât try to delve into it deeper. something about overthinking and crying randomly in front of your husband already feels bad enough, and you absolutely do not want to make your situation worse by having to explain your worries aloud to him.
he frowns at your words, his expression half-stern and half-concerned at your dismissal.
âitâs okay to spiral.â he rests his head against his hand in thought, brows furrowed as though heâs trying to find the right words, and you have to stifle a tiny, appreciative laugh at the sight of him practically hunched over himself looking deep in thought. the smile creeping onto your face seems to act as encouragement for toji, and he continues. âbut come to me for these stuff. donât deal with it alone. sure, iâm notâŚgreat with words. but i mean, i make a decent pillow to cry into, at least.â he shrugs, a tiny grin playing on his lips. you laugh in agreement, wiping the last of your tears and giving toji a tiny, hesitant smile.
he shakes his head fondly, studying your expression. âyou should go wash your face; itâll make you feel a little better. and then we can order takeout.â
âtakeout?â you beam. âand it isnât even tuesday yet! you always say that the discounts are only good on tuesdays,â you tease.
toji rolls his eyes, playfully groaning. âyeah, well. letâs call this a special exception.â he presses a quick kiss to your forehead. âbesides, the other option is that i cook for you, and i think we both know how thatâll turn out. now go wash your face.â

âtakeout?â you beam. âand it isnât even tuesday yet! you always say that the discounts are only good on tuesdays,â you tease.
toji rolls his eyes, playfully groaning. âyeah, well. letâs call this a special exception.â he presses a quick kiss to your forehead. âbesides, the other option is that i cook for you, and i think we both know how thatâll turn out. now go wash your face.â

toji fushiguro calming his anxious wife down (・>ďš<)
youâre curled up on the couch, your knees pressed to your body as you chew on your lip nervously. the motion is almost mechanical, and by now your lip is sore from continuously tugging at the skin with your teeth, yet you canât stop. not with all thatâs going on in your head. not with the sheer noise of it all.
your mind is too much, too loud, and every thought feels so heavy and inescapable to the point where youâre suffocating in your own mind.
in your nervous haze, you barely even register the sofa sinking with the weight of your husband settling himself by your side. the action is lazy, comfortable, and he wraps a large arm around your side, oblivious to your internal conflict.
just when tojiâs about to speak up, probably to complain idly about his day just to break the silence, he feels your hand tighten on his t-shirt. he pauses, glancing down to see that youâre not making eye contact. he notes that you seem strangely quiet, your face lowered and your grip on him persistent, almost as though to ground yourself.
âhey, whatâs this all about, huh?â he asks with a smirk, voice rough and half-teasing, but the second he tilts your chin up he pauses at the sight of tears.
he falters for a second: his usual confident, teasing demeanour melts immediately upon seeing your lashes heavy with unshed tears. your eyes are wide, and you look so vulnerable and nervous that it physically pains him. your lip trembles as you struggle with your words, but before you can try to speak or justify yourself, toji cuts you off.
â..whatâs wrong, pretty?â he murmurs, stroking your chin with his finger. he rubs little soothing circles just below your mouth before lifting his hand to rest next to your lips, noticing the way youâre subconsciously chewing on them. he frowns a little.
âdonât do that. itâs not good,â toji scolds, but thereâs no real anger in his voice. gently, he tugs your bottom lip free from your teeth before speaking. âtalk to me. what happened?â
the tone of his voice is uncharacteristically soft, and it makes your heart flutter momentarily at the fact that tojiâs gentleness only ever seems to be reserved for you.
you sniff, wiping your tears away with your sleeve, and shake your head.
âiâŚdonât think i want to talk about it,â you mumble, eyes flicking back down to your lap. something about his gaze boring into yours, his scarred mouth parted and those harsh eyes focused so intensely on you, makes you unable to maintain eye contact without a sense of embarrassment or shame creeping up your neck. you feel disarmed, stripped of your defences, and the vulnerability is terrifying. so instead, you simply focus on your hands in your lap, trying to calm yourself down as best as you can.
âthatâs okay. donât have to talk.â toji shifts his position a little, guiding you to rest in his embrace, your head buried in the crook of his neck. you let out a tiny sigh contentedly, trying to direct your focus away from your worries and onto the grounding feeling of tojiâs warmth, of his familiar scent, of the feeling of his chest rising and falling beneath you.
it should be comforting but instead the familiar feeling of being in your husbandâs arms combined with the recent stress seems to break you down entirely, eroding all your defences. before you can stop yourself or even understand why or how, youâre crying against him, burying your face further into his neck in an attempt to hide yourself.
it isnât that you havenât cried in front of toji before, rather that thereâs so much to explain this time â so much that youâre not even sure how to explain â that you find yourself curling even further into him in an attempt to hide your sobs.
you stay like that, clinging to toji tearfully in an attempt to soothe the dreadful nervousness in your body. you try to redirect your attention to the feeling of his hand on your back, to the sensation of his smooth arm wrapped around you.
toji doesnât complain when your tear-stained cheeks dampen his t-shirt, nor when you cling to him for so long that his neck begins to cramp. he just stays there, a single large hand running up and down your back soothingly in small circles.
after a short while, your grip on him loosens a little, and he feels you pull your face away from his neck. you try not to make eye contact, too embarrassed to meet his gaze. tojiâs the kind to deescalate a situation with a teasing joke or two, and youâre not sure you can really handle that after the weight of the moment youâve just shared with him. but when you meet his gaze, youâre not met with that familiar smirk of his, nor with a laugh or joke. youâre met with concern.
his face looks softer now, nothing like the harsh features youâre used to, and his eyes meet yours almost tenderly.
âfeeling better?â he asks, the words carrying a hint of concern.
you nod.
âitâs nothing. i was just spiralling,â you sigh dismissively. you assume â hope, even â that the conversation will end there, that toji wonât try to delve into it deeper. something about overthinking and crying randomly in front of your husband already feels bad enough, and you absolutely do not want to make your situation worse by having to explain your worries aloud to him.
he frowns at your words, his expression half-stern and half-concerned at your dismissal.
âitâs okay to spiral.â he rests his head against his hand in thought, brows furrowed as though heâs trying to find the right words, and you have to stifle a tiny, appreciative laugh at the sight of him practically hunched over himself looking deep in thought. the smile creeping onto your face seems to act as encouragement for toji, and he continues. âbut come to me for these stuff. donât deal with it alone. sure, iâm notâŚgreat with words. but i mean, i make a decent pillow to cry into, at least.â he shrugs, a tiny grin playing on his lips. you laugh in agreement, wiping the last of your tears and giving toji a tiny, hesitant smile.
