Well kids, this is gonna be it for this guy here for awhile. After a couple years, I’m dropping Nic. It’s been a hell of a lot of fun, and I’m grateful for you guys who played with me! It’s been awesome, so keep at it, kids. 

I might bring him back some day, or a tinier grim reaper, or a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger if I’m really tempted and feeling dumb. 

For now, though, that’s it for him. Oh, you can still find me at citta with this brat @baddestdangerboy so come let him give u a loving kick in the face

For my indie buds, I might check in here from time to time, idk. I encourage you to come kick my kid up there in the face too

She sighs, her hands sliding over her hips before staying put, her face still dusted with a light shade of pink.

“I’m alright! It only hurt a little… I’ll be fine! Uh..”

Unsure where to go next, she extended her hand to shake, offering a warm smile.

“I’m Holly! Holly Kujo!”

He still feels bad, and will probably worry even when he doesn’t say it aloud. But Wolfwood smiles and takes her hand in his.

“Nice to meet you, miss Kujo. I’m Nicolas. Nicolas Wolfwood. Sure there isn’t anything I can do to make  up for that?”

During her little adventure to see how living here would be.. she ended up bumping shoulders with this man, making some sort of squeak like noise as she stumbles back, beginning to apologize. “I’m so sorry, sir! I wasn’t looking where I was going!” She exclaimed, her face warming up with embarrassment. She really needs to watch herself more, she doesn’t know what this place holds - and is unaware of how anyone else is here.

Though he startles at the slight jostle, he holds up his hands, shrugs,

“It’s alright, no harm done. Are you alright, though? Sometimes I don’t know my own strength.”

“Eh don’t worry ‘bout it. I’m not one to let a cheap shot get me down. Been through enough of them that its not much of a surprise anymore.” Sure, that would be believable if the one with the kitchen knife laughed and pointed to Riku’s upper back and snickered once more. 

She just narrowed her eyes in response while continuing to eat her parfait. 

“Anyway it looks like its only one person, either they have more outside and won’t come in or they’re attempting to go solo. Hell if that’s the case they may not be a stupid attacker after all.” Which also meant they could either have a plan or something else.

He’d be more satisfied if it were just some heckler, who had a problem with Riku but wasn’t stupid enough to take action aside from some jeering. 

But they’re never all that lucky, are they.

He sighs, bemused.

“Why do I keep getting caught up in other people’s things?” Wolfwood, you’re such a popular guy.

Much as he doesn’t want to get involved, or aggravate the situation, when the guy seems distracted, the priest takes a toothpick that was among the things left on the table, and gives it a toss at him.

“Sorry no priest I’ve ever met as been trustworthy enough to hear about my sins. Although there was that one exorcist.” That’d be for a different time though. “Nothing against you personally I’ve just met my fair share of religious… Fanatics.” Although the information that he was a priest was also fairly surprising in general.

“I’m sure you’ve met one or two of them. The people who are really strong. They don’t always look it and they don’t act it- or at least the one I met didn’t. They’re there though.” Eizen returns the brow-raise back at him. “You telling me you’ve never met someone you’d call truly strong?”

Wolfwood almost wants to laugh, a hysterical note to it, but it keeps it in, stifles it with a smile. 

Buddy, he was trained by some. Worshiping fucking Plants.

“I know of some, I do. They’re there and they’re thorough when it comes to being sneaky, making people believe one thing...all I want is for people to believe in themselves...that they can help themselves.” 

It’ll keep them alive, maybe. 

“I know one man...the strongest man, maybe. But, somehow, he was as fragile as flower stem, too. But for other people.”

Promosis thought for a moment, and realized if he had to think it about it for too long then he probably couldn’t experience that either. Honestly he’d gone through similar questioning when he’d first met John, but still, it was worth a second thought. “I do not believe so. Thank you for asking though.”

In a way Wolfwood is glad for Promosis. Boredom can be a hell of a thing to experience, can make even the most take creatures become wild. He has a feeling it won’t be like that for Pro, but you never know.

“That’s good, its a good thing. And no problem-- thanks for all the help.”

Well, at least they got something. Eizen was sure if he helped the kids out there would be others doing the same. Hopefully most of them had found a place to settle in.

“That’s awfully kind of you. I don’t know if I could do the same myself. I have some bad luck streaks.” By bad luck he of course meant things like rockslides and buildings collapsing when they had no right too. He wouldn’t let a kid risk their life just so he could feel good about himself for taking care of one.

“Dying, huh… That would be preferable, if it was as simple as that. I’m afraid fate has a slightly different end set up for me.” For him death was a form of salvation, but he didn’t get to choose when or how. He lost the right to that choice a long time ago unlike the rest of his kind. “Humans shouldn’t think about dying too much, your time is already too short. At least, that’s how the strongest human I ever met looked at it.”

“Nah, it might just be cruel of me. But its alright, they gotta learn.”

That sometimes kindness is cruel, and cruelty is kindness. Not that they don’t know that already, the kids who had come from nothing before all this. Its more unfortunate for the ones who had loving parents and homes before. 

Wolfwood raises a brow quizzically at Eizen.

“Purgatory, huh. Well, if you’ve got something to confess, I’ll give ya a good discount.” Being a priest and all. 

“We think about dying constantly. That’s on the forefront of our minds while we scrabble to steal as much time as possible. Who’s really strong, anyhow?”

“These sick fucks?” Eizen supposes he meant the scientists- he hadn’t even considered that. “Ah … I see” Of course, it only made sense. They were exactly what they were called, scientists. “Taking an old man or two from a world shouldn’t matter much. I suppose I’m not surprised they take kids though. Do they at least give them a place to stay?” He thought about his little hut they had given him. “Someplace decent anyways?”

Well really he didn’t think anyone should for the most part. There’s just something always extra heinous about such actions towards kids though. That could just be his big brother instincts resurfacing again though.

“Huh, I don’t think I’d ever use something as confining as a bucket list. Tunnel vision is a terrible thing, can ruin a life.” Granted you had done your fair share of it recently.

Some kids are luckier, actually. They’re already used to being alone. Or some follow, like moths to a brilliant light, to someone particularly shiny. Not always good, that.

“They give them at least that. And food, for a bit. Until they can figure out what to do. S’where I come in, sometimes.”

There are times they don’t need it, don’t want it. Don’t react well to it. 

“You think its confining? Maybe with a time limit, if you’re dying. But we all are, so...real exciting, ain’t it.” 

The word you’re looking for is depressing, Wolfwood.

“Oh…” Eizen was mildly surprised by this fact. It’s not as if he knew the man on a personal level but he certainly didn’t take him for one that would care for orphans. “Maybe I misjudged you, I thought you were the rough and tumble type. Are there a lot of orphans here?”

Got everything done? Hardly there were still uncharted seas, adventures with his crew, seeing his sister again- he and his companions had helped saved the world now he needed to do his part in keeping it that way. Life would always give you new jobs to finish.

“I wouldn’t quite say that. There’s definitely a few more things I need to accomplish- and im sure once I get started on those even more will pop up.” He let out a sigh. “But I suppose you could say I got to cross a few major things off the list. Things I’m very happy I got to resolve.”

Another round of laughter, soft, bemused. Maybe somewhere deep down a little self depreciating, too. Well, a lot. Right at the surface. Like skimming swamp scum or something. 

“There are a lot, yeah. These sick fucks here brought plenty of kids here, all alone. They could do a lot better than me checking in...”

Seriously, kids are tenacious. They’re amazing. They can survive so much. 

“Bucket list just waiting for you to finish. Sounds nice.”

“Good, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

He mentions one less mouth to feed- did he have kids? Or maybe he just meant in general as in he wouldn’t be here anymore. The prospect of a man like this having children was much more entertaining though.

“A mouth to feed?” Eizen says feigning little surprised. “You don’t… Seem like the parent, familial type.” Was that rude? He wasn’t really sure.

Something things to take care of huh? He could understand that for sure. Unfinished business aplenty.

“But I know what you mean, if I hadn’t finished certain things before getting pulled here.” Eizen balls up his hand into a fist in front of him. “I would hate to leave something half-done.” He lowers his fist as he finishes talking. He hadn’t thought about that in awhile, it was certainly odd to think of him.

It’s rude, most people would be offended. But Wolfwood finds that genuinely hilarious, snickering until his face feels warm with that laughter.

“No, I don’t have kids...but I grew up in an orphanage, and I’d like to be able to help the younger kids...that sorta thing.”

God, him, a father...that’d be fucked up. Even though he’s definitely adopted so many kids here.

“You’ve gotten everything done? That’s actually impressive....most people are in the middle of everything, yeah.”

Eizen chuckled. “Yeah, yeah they are.” He had seen his fair share of ‘humans with power’ and how they acted with it.

“Fires…?” He stopped walking for just a moment. He hadn’t considered that, of course there were crazy things happening here. He wasn’t the only outsider, this man next to him was proof of that- the other people he’d met so far. How many others were from different worlds? What kind of powers did they have? What were their stories like!?

“You know, I think I will enjoy moving around here. It’s got a lot of potential- for pretty much everything.” He looked towards the man again. “So your own world didn’t sound that fantastic but, I’ve got to ask would you go back?”

“Fires, death hounds, being turned into magical girls-- just to name a few that have happened lately. At least those are out of the way.”

He doesn’t know if he envies Eizen this excitement of what’s to come, the possibilities in the near future. But....it must feel so much more different than the indifference, or the expectancy of what he feels every day from this place. 

“You’re in for it, that’s all I can say.” 

Would he go back? That’s a silly question. Wolfwood chuckles.

“In a heartbeat. As much as it sucks back there, and it’s one less mouth to feed....I have some things to take care of.”

“Think you’re real damn cute, dontcha,” he says, rolling his eyes skyward. Please, Lord in heaven, have mercy on this incident.

“I can’t speak for weirdos like that, but I got an honest paying job. What about you?”
