Realistically i know homosexuality was probably banned in the Legion from early on but imagine it’s only banned after Joshua Graham and Caesar’s divorce Joshua Graham gets thrown off the Grand Canyon. Á la Roku and Sozin from avatar. Like
so ridiculous. anyways

ME I DO
I think the issue I have with people saying that the Ichiban Saga was the beginning of the end for RGG is that they imply (whether directly or not) that Ichiban is the reason that Yakuza has less all the things that made it good and it's pretty frustrating because I think the issue is less about Ichiban and more the fact about how RGG makes all characters revolve around Kiryu.
Like A Dragon was a fantastic introduction to Ichiban as a character and how he differs from Kiryu on the fundamental level. He's warm, cheery, openly emotional and expressive and isn't afraid to lay down his life for his friends. Like Kiryu, he is motivated by his past traumas but also motivated by the hopeful future. When Ichiban stands on his own as a character, he really shines just like he did in Like A Dragon.
The reason Infinite Wealth and Pirates were so mid (at least to me) is because the writing made Ichiban and Majima revolve around Kiryu and it kneecapped both characters in the process. Majima especially seeing as, like Kiryu, he's a long established character and at this point should have more motivation outside of Kiryu. Ichiban is a bit worse in my opinion because we've seen him shine on his own as a protagonist and in IW he was relegated to half a protagonist because he had to share the spotlight with Kiryu and it made the game feel awkward.
Yakuza got popular in the west way too late and now they're trying to bank on Kiryu instead of just moving forward with Ichiban. It's been 6 years and we haven't gotten word of a new Ichiban installment because of it. And people going "Oh but Ichiban just had a game!", Kiryu has TWO DECADES WORTH OF GAMES. He doesn't need another Kiwami Remaster.
Ichiban was never the problem. It was Kiryu and RGG refusing to move on from the past.
