Yes, like sure he’s nice to Les, but that man is rolling his eyes at anyone who annoys him. He also (like jack) is super headstrong once he has an idea- dude is doing it his way or bust.
Newsies Headcanon:
Davey Jacobs was reading literature from the Jewish Labor Bund (founded in 1897) even before joining the newsies, which is how he knew so much about striking.
He continues this during and after the strike, becoming one of the most radical newsies.

in all seriousness though here's all the canon information the uksies cast shared, hope you all enjoy etc etc, a lot of people were stressed af trying to find all of this out (special mention to alex christian, what a king) so i'm very happy you all get to see it!!!!
if i can ask one thing though, if anyone uses a chunk of this in character info posts or anything, please link this post!! like i said a lot of this we had to squeeze out of cast members, some of it was made up on the spot specifically because we asked, and for henry mush he specifically trusted ellie (creator + overlord of the trading cards) to create a canon name + backstory + personal item for him so, we would really appreciate it if you just linked the post in small text somewhere if you're using a substantial amount of it :)

in past productions we’ve had a black jack kelly, a latino jack kelly, a black katherine, an asian david, a racetrack who isn’t always happy go lucky, a crutchie whose actor is a disabled in real life. newsies have been genderswapped because gender doesn’t dictate the character- take uksie’s spot, who is a black woman, for example; spot is the same powerhouse of a character regardless of who’s playing them. these characters are who you make them and you do NOT, and should not, follow the path of making every newsie White Guy #17. this is fiction these are characters you can give them diverse identities! diverse cultures! diverse religions and diverse countries of origin and diverse lived experiences!
also stop making them stupid. for the love of GOD stop making them stupid. maybe most of them don’t have a “formal” education but they’re street smart and quick on their feet and resilient and they should not be reduced down to an accent for shits and giggles. not every newsie has to be a white cisgender man. get real with it. you agree. reblog.
