Gay is gross

I remember being 12 and getting to go to Vancouver with my mom and her boyfriend to watch hockey.. we where there around the same time as a parade was happening I can’t remember exactly but it could have possibly been st. Patrick’s Day, they mentioned all the cool parades that happen and how big they are in comparison to my small town.. they mentioned how there was a gay pride celibration and it was foreign to me. Then, my mother’s boyfriend mentioned how gross it was because men let there “junk hang lose” and how disturbing the whole seen was. I was mortified, it seemed so wrong and I was confused why such a thing would happen.

The whole thing got me thinking but sadly my first impression was that being gay was gross, I can’t wait to move from this small homophobic town and see how normal it is and to finally be excepted to be myself.
