Errors Accessing AO3

We are investigating reports of errors when trying to load AO3, including errors saying that AO3 is down, which seem to be related to the previous incident. We will update when we have more information!

AO3 is now fully down. After performing a software upgrade a few days ago, we've been unable to keep our server cluster healthy due to what we believe is a bug or issue with the new release of our database server software.

We're working with our vendor's support team to understand the cause and whether reverting or upgrading further will best resolve the issue without continuing the cycle of up and downtimes.

We do not currently have an estimated time for when we will be back up, but we expect it to be multiple hours at minimum. We apologize for the inconvenience and will update you when we know more.

My trip to Vegas is being overtaken by passive aggressive hostility, finger pointing, financial issues and a Christian dad.

Long story short I’m not good with money. Not in the way you think. I could be given five ones and I’d end up a penny short. There’s no way it could happen except with (My Name) Logic. I am also the oldest of four and an adult child of alcoholic and emotionally un-intelligent parents (whom I love dearly). So that means I take care of a lot of their electronic and virtual concerns including bank juggling, hospital, Benmo, airfare, and hotel reservations.

If I could only put names where things need to be or organize passwords I’d be smooth sailing as #1 Child. However, my parents try to make me pay for things and give me their portion yo satisfy the car rental and hotel. You would think that would be fine. (My Name) Logic enters the building.

My Bank: $502

Mom and Dad Bank: $502

My Credit Card: needs $1,004.00 for car and hotel and gas $500 on it already.

But mom only sent me $210.00 day before I needed to have the Credit Card post by day of. Which means I needed it four days before to post in the clear. Then she paid me the remainder $242.00 day of.

I transferred my half onto my CC and kept my spending money on my Debit early, so I could pay half on my CC and half on my Debit at the hotel, right? Wrong. The hotel can’t split payment until checkout and needs one card in the total amount PLUS incidentals on check in (totally understandable and reasonable). EXCEPT

CC: $502

Debit: $502

AND I CANT MOVE cash in two minutes instantly!!!

So mom and dad pay on their debit card and now are out of spending cash.

So then I Benmo mom and dads half back and I have some confusion (until typing this out) on how much owes who. So mom and dad transfer Benmo instantly BUT IT WONT POST UNTIL AFTER WE GET HOME! So now they’re broke and I have $600 of my spending money. EXCEPT my bank doesn’t show $502 being sent to Benmo so I really only have $98 to spend after.

SO THEN I shuffle $502 to my 2nd Debit for them to use until their bank can post (hopefully instantly) and use my CC for spending. Which now has $320 because I’ve already spent for stuff. MEANING:

My Bank: $-527.00 (+$25 over draw fee)

2nd Debit: $502 (mom and dad use)

CC: $320

Mom and Dad bank: $0 (ghost money of $502)

I live with my ma and dad, right? And they hardly ever get out of the house together, by themselves. Well, my ma is really good at emotions manipulation and we all know that. Right?

So, her and dad are getting away with the camper for 2 weeks. My siblings and I are like “right on, sister”. Then she just said to me this morning that “man, I wish all’y’all could come with us!”

IMMEDIATELY I thought about how to get two weeks off of my job to go. I tried to clarify thrice why she wants us to be there (because bad communication all around) and she’s all “because I’ll miss y’all while in my 2 week date”. I kinda got mad and said why would she want us at her date? “Because I’m gonna miss y’all and am trying to convince myself this will be a good thing for me” *sad face*

Boy, when I pointed out how the way she had said that made me feel bad and why she just threw her hands up and said “Jesus Christ! Don’t be so sensitive!”

Me: you literally said this is a trip for you and dad. And your sad to leave us ADULT children behind?

Ma: yes. Because I’ll miss you guys

Me: this is the emotional codependency you learned about from your therapist

Ma: IKR

Me: so don’t try to make me feel bad. OR try to remember to say it differently

Not like I don’t have this kind of word vomit like she does. Except if like to think mine is because I’m spicy neurodivergent and she’s got her own c PTSD.

The funniest thing ever that happened to me lately was when I was asked to do the fourth decade of the rosary at my cousins funeral. I’m a satanist. My mom knows I don’t believe in her god (and she’s okay with that). My younger sisters know this too and couldn’t help but fight their laughter.

In my culture, we don’t have words for “please” or “thank you” or “I love you”. They’re expected. Understood on an unconditional level. Now that we’re “civilized” and “modern”, we have these words, but don’t express well. We love in quiet ways our souls recognize and struggle to conform to social norms. I love my family, I tell them as often as I can, but my more traditional family members don’t tell me the same or repeat it back. It hurts because I expect it to be there. But I know that when a soft hand touches my shoulder, or a smile is thrown my way, that is their love language.
