It’s been like, what? A week? Probably less than that since the events back at Rome and here she was now in New York City. Villanelle had never even step foot in United States so traveling all the way from Europe certainly took a toll on her. Gosh, she loved travelling from city to city, from country to country, exploring new places, but most of that time her handler would travel with her, most of those times Konstantin — who now probably was having a margarita while spending time with his family at some exotic beach, or maybe.. hiding to make sure she wouldn’t find him and his pathetic family. Either way, after the murder of Raymond — her former handler, she was more than sure the Twelve will send someone else after her, because frankly? She has risked everything to get Eve to go with her to Alaska and well, it did not work out that well and now days after someone send her a cute looking post card — her new target.
Dylan Torres — one of the most famous CEO’s in NYC. This one had to be extremly important for her to head to different part of the world only to kill him. Maybe the Twelve don’t want her back in Europe, maybe it’s their way of giving her one last chance? Or a set up. One way or another, she had to be ready for anything that might occur during her time in foreign location.
The time has been set, the right outfit picked out beforehand. Villanelle usually preferred to choose her outfits on her own since she was the only one with a decent taste in fashion, though in this case, she would have to wear a very boring and formal looking secretary outfit in order to blend in once she slipped through the security with the use of her new ID card according to which today she was Sara Hayes - rookie secretary who moved from Los Angeles for her dream job.
Sara’s backstory wasn’t very appealing either and it only forced Villanelle to roll her eyes. On the bright side, this assassination in particular seemed to be rather important and would get her an impressive amount of cash — that if she was careful enough as a professional that she was — there was no doubt she would be enjoying the night life of New York that evening and she was most definitely looking forward to it.
It was almost time. Almost time to leave the hotel she booked for a day. The view in the mirror reflection wasn’t too bad after all — she did look decent in that navy blue suit skirt along with her shoulder-length black wig. Villanelle did go through the instructions which were very clear about this mission. Poison. Boring. Boring. Boooring.
Minutes later Villanelle arrived to the company building of CEO Dylan Torres and made sure to show her ID card while giving the most fake smile she had ever created, right before casually heading inside. Everything looked exactly like in any other formal institution she had visited before. Now all she had to do was to reach 11th floor, find Mr. Torres office and finish him off. How? The options were limitless. The one idea that already popped in Villanelle’s head was the scenario where she’d help Mr. Torres reach the first floor with no lift or stars involved. The scene would have to look epic once she’s done with him.
She continued making up ideas while on her way to the office, taking her sweet time in order to look very casual, as if she was taking a damn walk through the building. One. Two. Three. Double Knock. No answer. Villanelle repeated the action once more but no one seemed to care to open the door or at least give her permission to enter. Oh well.
Deciding not to waste more time than needed Villanelle entered the office only to lay her eyes on what looked like…. choking Dylan Torress who desperately was trying to get to her to get some help. Raising an eyebrow due to the scene Villanelle also spotted another figure in the office who clearly was responsible for whatever serious dyspnea. It only lasted a couple of short moments and here he was… on his own “fancy” carpet, his eyes fixed on her figure as if the last drop of hope.
― ❛ This one.. was supposed to be mine. ❜
That’s all she managed to mutter out in low tone sounding rather disappointed while staring down at the dead corpse of the former famous CEO. She had other plans for him, but the fact remained. He was HER target. So who was this other chick and why she replaced her in killing (poisoning) the guy?!―
this contract had been very, very specific. usually they just gave her a name, a little background information and where they’d be found ----- all there was left for her to do was to kill the sucker. though, this time was very different. not only did they give her all of the above, but they also gave her a preferred killing. poison. not her .... usual way of killing a target. in short, juliet preferred her knives or gun. those were her weapons that she was most familiar with. so, she’s a little disappointed on that front, but hey. they offered a big chunk of money for the killing. she could deal with the changes for that ( not that her whole life revolves around getting rich. but she would be a liar if she said it wasn’t a nice bonus ).
the fun part? besides killing him, it was figuring out how on earth she was going to get into his office. there was a million options to go through ---- but he was a very successful man, who probably made it hard for anyone to get a meeting with him. so, juliet calls a few of her connections within the underworld just to make sure her cover goes without a hitch. not that she’s had problems in the past, but she wouldn’t want it to start this time around. it’s from there that she makes the perfect cover and secures a meeting with the man himself. as far as he’s concerned, she’s a very successful company owner that has been impressed with his work, and would like to set up a meeting to talk about a potential partnership towards the two. it may have helped that she added a bit of flirting in the conservation. men were always suckers for flirting.
while she would love nothing more then to show up in high waisted jeans and a cute crop top, she knows as well as acting the part, she needs to look it as well. so, juliet finds her best clothes that just scream successful and business woman, and waste’s no time changing into it. if she unbuttons a few buttons on her top, then it’s for a purpose. the look clearly works, as she breezes past everyone in the building without a second glance ( and if they do look again, it’s because she looks good ). the secretary ushers her into his office with hurried words and a sickly sweet smile, then the door is shut and it’s just the two of them. fingers twitch as she itches to kill him right on the spot, but then she remembers ---- right. poison.
she chats it up with him, waiting for the right opportunity. and god, does she wait. juliet bullshits her way through the conservation, with a smile that could leave a heart a flutter and flirting heavy, enough for him to leer at her and her on display breasts. the conservation goes on for so long that she’s starting to think she won’t get a chance and will just have to slit his throat, or whatever, when she finally gets her opening. the bastard finally goes to get a drink for them, which is obviously alcohol, and her smile feels tight as he hands her a glass. she waits patiently, hands tight around the glass and the second he turns to find some papers, she’s quick in taking out the poison and slipping it into his own glass. legs are crossed over another and she looks innocent as he turns back around, and she pretends to drink from her cup, dark eyes watching him over the glass. it’s not long before he takes a drink from his cup and it’s instant. the facade crumbles once he starts choking and she sighs in disinterest as he looks at her shocked.
juliet is so into the fact that now thirty minutes into this boring meeting, the man she’s hired to kill is finally choking to death, that she doesn’t realize the door to his office has opened. it’s only when she hears a voice that her eyes widen slightly and she turns in her seat, eyebrows furrowing. the woman ... she’s not recognizable. but that’s not what confuses her. it’s the other’s words.
‘ i’m just going to assume that you mean yours to kill, or i’m in a very awkward position. either way --- he’s dead. doesn’t matter who killed him, you or me. ’
