In 2010 I received a message on YouTube when sending messages on YouTube was still the norm.
It came from a man who called himself, “Mike.” He praised me for my channel, and offered support for the upcoming Otakon. I was elated to say the least, and I couldn’t imagine who this person would become in my life over the next 5 years.
Michael is loving refereed to as Mr. Gold in our group of friends for many reasons. Notably he cosplays as Mr. Gold from the live action show Once Upon A Time, but I like to think we call him Mr. Gold for deeper reasons.
Mike has always been someone who creates magic. He’s given myself and my friends countless opportunities in the con world that without his help we wouldn’t have had other wise. He’s helped us, supported us, and cheered us on before most anyone else did. As some of you may already know though… all magic comes with a price.
Mike is selfless and self sacrifices quite often to ensure his friends/family are comfortable, happy, and safe. Mike is now the one in need of some magic, and I implore you to read his entire story on his GoFundMe.
People in our community throw money at cosplayers/anime convention goers to complete a HOBBY. This situation is dire, and my friend sincerely needs this help in order to continue to properly live. ANY amount you can offer is greatly appreciated. If you can’t offer a donation, I simply as for a reblog/signal boost, as that would also make a difference and help as well.
I /never/ promote things that involve the transfer of money but this person means too much to me not to ask you all for help.
