in light of a four day ceasefire in Gaza being agreed upon, i am once again asking you all not to lose sight of the big picture. Biden and the Israeli Government are trying to frame this as a major democratic victory and as a favor respectively. they have no intention of a total ceasefire. they have no intention of stopping their genocide. remember - a ceasefire is the very first step. it’s not even the bare minimum.

the absolute bare minimum in this situation is 1) a complete ceasefire and immediate humanitarian aid in Gaza, 2) complete halt of all military foreign aid to the Israeli government, 3) the Israeli government being prosecuted for its war crimes in the International Criminal Court, and 4) land back and reparations for the Palestinian people. free Palestine means free Palestine, not just temporarily stop carpet bombing Palestine.

a temporary ceasefire is something, but it’s not even close to the end goal. we cannot let up pressure when things seem to be looking up. keep protesting, boycotting, spreading awareness, contacting politicians, etcetera. keep your eyes on Gaza. free Palestine.

Sometimes you plan on filling out that job application with too many questions and a video response

Idk where “Percy is an idiot” came from in the fandom. After rereading the series as an adult it’s remarkable how empathic and self conscious this kid is. You can tell that this is a kid who had to grow up early because he was always facing situations that involved him being punished for his actions. Most of which he can’t help due to his adhd, age, and being a half blood.

He was never carefree. Like ever. Every good day he had, he’s been treating as temporary like he doubts he’d get another one. Counting down till something goes wrong. Every interaction with another person is detailed with analysis of how he is interpreting their feelings and actions.

His impulses stem directly from feelings of injustice, either to himself or for others. He does things irrationally because he feels there isn’t a better choice in his situation than throwing himself in. Boy really hits the “I guess we’ll see if I die” button every time. It’s kinda concerning bc of how suicidal it is.

So no I don’t really see these headcanons of Percy embarking on shenanigan’s with Leo because most of the stupid shit he’s done has been with Annabeth, and the stuff he’s done on his own have been to sacrifice himself or help another person out.

I don’t see him encouraging it either. Especially when it comes to Estelle in the future. No way is he going to let her do half of the stuff he did bc in his head he was really ready to die when he did those things.

This is probably why he is so attached to Annabeth. He loves her rebellious side which is fueled by her pride and confidence, but at the same time is so close to her bc of the amount of times he’s had to save her from herself.

Their flaws are almost foils. His unwavering loyalty stemming from his own worthlessness coupled with her pride that drives her to prove her worth.

Just by reading all their interactions alone Percy has more reason to be stressed by Annabeth than Annabeth about him.

not to be too serious on main but the “Percy is an idiot” narrative came from two places

1. characters (like annabeth and chiron) who used to have what is read in the books as “another of those silent conversations” where they had a tonnn of information about the current situation and were therefore making informed decisions based on this knowledge without including other people (aka Percy who was almost always the reason behind the decision or the one who would have to enact the plan) in the decision

this eventually read as Percy not knowing anything because he was “too oblivious and not smart enough” to understand what was going on rather than “he’s a 12 year old kid that wasn’t allowed to know ANYTHING about their world until circumstances forced him to learn and therefore naturally would not know anything unless people told him”

also literally nobody ever told Percy anything. and that’s not even a joke. I’m pretty sure you can count on one hand how many times Percy actually got useful information before he was thrown into a (usually life threatening) situation.

2. because Annabeth is who Percy spends the most time with, naturally people compared her decision making style (meticulous planning, lots of research, logic logic logic) to his decision making (fuelled by emotion, very spur of the moment, save what he can and analyse later) the narrative got warped so that it made is seem like he wasn’t smart enough to get to “annabeth’s level”. and yes Grover was with them and sometimes thalia and blah blah blah but if you notice even in those instances it’s annabeth (or an “adult”) making the decisions. so unless percy is in a life or death situation (and therefore forced to make an on the fly decision) we don’t actually get to see his decision making process
