the really wonderful thing about nico's commentary is he can explain decisions and technical aspects of f1 that a layperson idiot like you and me can easily understand. he's not overly verbose or complicated. it's really good communication, and you have to remember English is not his first or even third language. there's commentators on sky who've been commentating for decades and I've left races without understanding why who did what, and nobody disagrees with crofty or provides a critical (not haterism) opinion

I don't think we talk enough about how smart it was that Williams gave Alex Albon, a known media hater, a podcast where he answers silly fan questions.

Like after years and years of him mercilessly critiquing the media teams' questions and the interviewers, they just gave up and let him chat with Logan. And it's ACTUALLY GOOD because he isn't hating every second of it.

nico, of all people, knows what it's like being a solid midfielder without winning that first race for so long and also recognizes the block it is for lando who hides behind self deprecating jokes and hypes him up. esp when you consider lando has been vocal ab drivers' mental health and nico himself did sports therapy and knows you can't survive in the f1 media circus while downplaying yourself.

it is super refreshing to see someone from the previous generation actually support the younger drivers instead of adding more pressure to it

I don't understand Lance Stroll fans on a good day, but how do you defend what he did today? Not in a "my bb is precious and does no wrong 🥺" way, but actually?

He wasn't paying attention/looking at the other cars, went into a hairpin turn way too fast, and sent another car airborne during a safety car/restart.

That's inexcusable at the Formula 1 level. This isn't the first time he's been careless, but it might be the most egregious. His lack of attention and care could seriously injure someone. That penalty wasn't enough.

Then he doesn't even have the ability to take responsibility, he just whines and tries to blame the person he hit. "Nobody's friends with poor bb Lance 🥺" - this is why. He's deeply unlikable, top-down. Without daddy constantly buying seats, at the detriment of other more talented/less wealthy drivers, he absolutely wouldn't be in F1. The other drivers obviously know this, and when you couple it with his "personality," yikes.

And an unfriendly reminder - disliking Lance doesn't give you an excuse to be antisemitic, ableist, etc. That just makes you a shitty person. There's enough to talk about without all that hate. ✌🏻
