Late night pondering...
You know what bothers me the most about racism?? Its that people forget that we are all just human. I might personally not be a fan of religion, but I feel most people just want to live a peaceful and fulfilling life. To hate people for how they were brought up and raised is ridiculous. Only though compassion and education can we become better as a species. The coming together of many people from many backgrounds is the true American way.
The saying that you have to love yourself before others can love you is really kind of BS.
I was out sitting by the water on this wet and rainy day and it got me thinking about all these quotes about relationships and finding love. Too many times I have seen this particular one come up and frankly it is a load of crap. I guess for those that are constantly trying to remake themselves this would apply, but for the most part I think most people like who they are. Also it should be clear that remaking ones self is not the same as working to better ones self. So for the most part, I am going to say people love themselves. I love who I am, I just do not want to be the only one to love me. And there I think therein lies the problem. Perhaps the better quote (and practice) would be that you have to let yourself be loved before others can love you. In this world of instant gratification, I think most people expect some magical spark to happen or something overnight. That is not how love works. You do not spark in love...you fall in love. It might not happen over a week, or a month, or even a year. It takes time to get past that initial barriers since we all have an image we let the world see that is usually not exactly representative of who we are inside. Some people protect themselves more than others also with this. Perhaps we all just need to spend more time with and around our fellow humans. Stop holding back and just have fun with people and let yourself see who people really are and never judge a book by its cover.
How to make life more rich...
- Be less critical. - Expand your imagination. - Do not be a glass half empty sort of person. - Understand you do not need to set overly high exceptions to maintain your standards. - Reflect more on yourself and less on others. - Stop giving a shit what other people think.
Conundrum...
So, I am a person that has minor allergies so I sneeze a few-ish times a day. Yes it is annoying, but what is more annoying is when someone says “bless you” to me. Sorry, but as an Atheist and someone who is very much against Christianity or any religion for that matter, it makes me uncomfortable to say “thank you” back since I really do not want to say that but at the same time I do not want to come off as a dick. I think I will just stop caring and just say nothing from now on.
It is time.
From this point going forward, we need to teach each new generation that it is their responsibility to leave this planet in a better state than when they entered it.
Bad shit DOES NOT happen for a reason...
The recent shooting in San Bernardino, Planned Parenthood, and events in France gave me much to think about and it made me sad seeing people posting about praying for them them or that bad things are “god’s plan.” I am sorry, but I cannot be on board with that. The world is a shitty shitty place and these events are just further evidence of this. I cannot help but feel extreme anger at religion in general and it boggles my mind how people can “pray” for the victims when the deity they are praying to (who more than likely does not exist) clearly does not give a shit. I just hope the world is able to more quickly move to a more secular position soon or we are a species are doomed.
When the Spark Dies...
Relationships in my life tend to be akin to fire. A new relationship is like when the fire gets massive and burns very hot. To keep that relationship strong it takes continual maintenance. When one falls out of love typically the fire dies down to just coals waiting to set something new on fire...except if you are me. Sometimes it feels like the spark dies completely and I wonder if it will every come back.
Yeah I know how utterly depressing that sounds and here I am writing this at 3:30 in the morning, but I have to wonder if there is a problem with my ability to tend a fire or my ability to keep one going. I sometimes wonder if I should just just burn a bunch of small pieces from many different trees for awhile, or maybe I should just sit in the cold a bit, ski season is coming and all.

When someone tells you they are feeling nervous, the best thing to do is lighten the mood an make them laugh a bit. Here is what I say:
“So...what are you feeling nervous about? Sucking? Because you already do that all the time anyways!”
Try it! Guaranteed to either make them laugh, shock them, or tick them off a tad.
Interesting moment the other night...
So the other night, I was outside the bar being my normal silly and outrageous self. A friend commented on some attractive ladies about to walk by so I felt this was a good time to jokingly ask if I should lure them with the abs and proceeded to display said abs for the world to see. I know what you are thinking and just so we are all on the same page...I already know I am a bit eccentric. Well back to the story...one of said ladies overheard this and felt the need to comment. She stated that “nobody cares about your abs.” This was not really that harsh of a statement and I was being a bit of a fool, but me being me, I was not about to let her off so easily. As she was walking past me into the bar I decided let loose one of my classic comebacks: “Yes, and I am sure guys are attracted to your personality also.” I must say the look on her face soured significantly but hey...don’t dish it if you cannot take it.
