@babyphat05 was one of the first blogs I found on Tumblr that really spoke to me. She’s anonymous but projects confidence from her every word. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, based on her big Tumblr following and empire she’s building with her official blog, book club, and Patreon.
I’ve learned a lot from following her content online, and thought I’d share some of the things I’ve learned. This is by no means an extensive list, but I thought a super long list would be difficult to read on a micro blogging platform like Tumblr.
- Be private. Raise your hand if you were one of those girls posting all over social media and blabbing about your private life to people you barely know. Ugh! I’m embarrassed to admit it used to be me, but I know better now and will be keeping my private life… private 🥰
- Get off social media–or at least, change the way you use social media. Similar to the last point, but it merits its own paragraph. I can’t believe how much time I wasted following the lives of people I don’t even care about, or worrying about what other people thought of what I would post. I still use social media in an educational way (eg. my Tumblr) while also putting limits on my social media use because it can suck up a lot of time.
- Be confident. I’ve never caught her slipping on anythinggg. She’s always brimming with confidence about her looks, her intelligence, her ambition, her music taste, her humour, her ANYTHING. The easiest and hardest thing about confidence is that it comes from within–all it needs is you believing in yourself and your abilities.
- Surround yourself with positive role models. One example of this is being a woman of colour. Her blog has a lot of beautiful Black women who are living their best and bougiest lives. Similarly, I’m looking for Asian women so I can see examples of people who are living the life I want to live (nowhere in mainstream media are they giving us this).
- Your standards for the people around you need to be higher, whether it’s friends or men (but ESPECIALLY men!). To do this you can’t be afraid of being alone, and the only way that can happen is if you’re alone and you are okay with it. This could be a separate post in itself tbh. (Have y’all read her blog and seen the asks she gets about men… 💀)
I highly recommend everyone read @babyphat05‘s blog. She is a positive role model for everyone who is interested in being educated about various important topics from productivity to style to fitness to school to finances to ANYTHING. She’s been a big part of my glow up journey, and I know she’ll be a big part of yours too!
