More on ‘Jade Helm’. Just what is our government up to?
From July 15th to September 15th of 2015, the U.S. military will be conducting a massive military drill throughout 7 states in an operation entitled Jade Helm. This rather alarming drill across the entire American Southwest will include the US Army's Green Berets, US Marines Special Ops Command, US Navy Seals, and US Air Force Special Ops Command. The stated purpose of the drill contradicts how this unprecedented exercise will actually be carried out. Combine this with the document labeling entire U.S. states as 'hostile' leaves one with a sinking feeling.
I always try to avoid wearing my tinfoil hat (NO....that's not why I have tinfoil in my bugout bag...smh) but with all the attention this is drawing across the US it makes me wonder what your thoughts on the subject of Jade Helm are? I have my theory; what is yours?
I’m not trying to sell security cameras but if I find a good product for a fair price and I am satisfied with the quality and performance, I will certainly pass along the info to anyone who may be interested. The Uniden Guardian 955 system is outstanding. The system was easy to install and operate and I was able to have it up and running in a couple of hours. If you are in the market for a good system you really need to check this out.
I believe a smart and loyal canine companion is a valuable tool in an emergency or survival situation. Huskies are excellent for this purpose, they are extremely intelligent, protective and always on high alert. A great addition to your family for companionship and security.
And, this is why we prep....
We have lost our way as a country...
It's a shame what our country has come to, smh. A government which has lost it's way in this country and the world. Citizens burning their communities and 'so called' citizens spitting on and trampling on the United States flag. I realize this is a difficult time and I believe in the freedom of speech, but we have to have a REAL change. There are hundreds of thousands wanting to be a citizens of our country and I believe they would be better than some I have seen on the news over the past several months. Yes, things have to change and I feel it is only going to get much worse. Thank God for Faith, Family, Friends and Freedom and I have no pity for anybody who tries to take those things away from us. If you do not prep, you should be; we are getting ready to have a SHTF moment in this country.
The 10 Cs of survival....good stuff to remember!
Did you choose to prep or were you raised as what you consider to be a prepper. Growing up, I was raised doing exactly what I do now, but it wasn't called prepping then, it was simply called everyday survival. Thanks to the people who taught me....my grandparents, the original preppers.
My take on personal protection from my blog. Please, check it out and let me know what you think; you can comment there. Thanks! Finally, we have a chance to discuss my favorite topic, personal protection. This is one of the six survival essentials which I feel are vital in an emergency or survival situation. As I have state...
Please, feel free to check out my survival/prepping blog. I really need a number of experienced survivalist and preppers to share comments, ideas, tips, techniques....etc. Preparation is your key to survival!
POSITIVE SURVIVAL ATTITUDE!
So, you find yourself in a TEOTWAWKI situation that you have prepared for over the years; you have your family together safe and you have all of the necessary tools and supplies that any prepper should. As you begin to evaluate your situation, you find it apparent that everybody is in panic mode and basically freaking out. Members of your family are upset as they begin to realize the severity of the problem going on around them. As much as you prepared for this moment in time you failed to consider that members of your family or survival community were going to be in an extremely emotional and mentally fragile state. This isn't the kind of situation that most people will get over with a good cry and you will certainly have to deal with even more raw emotion as days turn into weeks and possibly weeks into months. As time marches on and your family or survival community members have to deal with the seriousness of survival day after day, their fragile emotional and mental state will only get worse and this will begin to take it's toll on the group as a whole. There are going to be serious survival issues that you, as the head of your family or group, will certainly have to deal with each day that passes. It will be your responsibility to make sure your family has food, water, shelter, fire, first-aid, and protection at all times. The stress you will have from that alone can be tough, but add the fact you have to deal with other members emotional, mental, and physical conditions and you may reach a level of being totally overwhelmed. This is the point where the attitude you have is going to be crucial to you and your family or community's survival. A positive attitude is vital in order for us to succeed in any situation but especially when the decisions you might be forced to make in order to survive must be made rationally. A negative attitude clouds our judgement, causes us to second guess ourselves, effects feelings of self-worth, and can lead to depression. Simply, a negative attitude can lead to our demise in an emergency or survival situation if we let that attitude linger within us, our family, or our community. Not only is it crucial for you as the leader to have a positive mental attitude, but it is extremely important that the others under your charge do so as well. So, how do we combat the negativity in a group? First, the leader sets the pace for the rest of the group. As the head of your family, you have to exhibit a positive attitude at all times. Positive attitude is contagious and if you present a strong positive attitude towards your family or group, they are extremely likely to follow suit. Second, delegate responsibility and authority to family or group members. Everybody wants to feel a sense of purpose and helping the group in a survival situation will certainly give them that feeling of worth and importance. Each and every member, who is physically able, should have a task to complete every day which is vital to the well being of the group as a whole. Teenagers, who are innately rebellious, react very positive to responsibility roles so this is a win win. Be sure to emphasize the importance of each member and every task which is being assigned. We love to be praised over our accomplishments so be sure to compliment every successful moment, no matter how small it may be. Third, don't dwell on the negatives. You are in a situation you have never been in so sure you will make some mistakes. Like any other situation, you should learn from the mistakes and move on. Note: We plan, prepare, and practice for certain situations to eliminate the chances of making mistakes. Remember, you are in a survival situation and mistakes can hurt the family or group as a whole; mistakes can actually put us in a life or death situation so it is vital we minimize the effects of mistakes at all possible. Forth, and possibly the most important, make time every day for the family or group to join in some sort of activity together besides eating meals. The time we spend together in fellowship allows us to communicate our thoughts and feelings, and contributes to the emotional and spiritual well being of the entire group. Think of it as 'group therapy' for the soul of the group. Lastly, operate as close to a predetermined schedule as much as possible and keep everybody busy. The more we stay busy doing something beneficial to the mission of the family or group, the less time we have to allow negativity to enter our thought process. REMEMBER, as the head of your family or group, you have a responsibility to their physical, mental, and emotional well being. BUT, survival of a community is not a one man job, it takes the combined effort of the group working together as one. Now, when it comes to survival attitude the same rule applies for it as any other survival resource. It is something that has to be planned, prepared, and practiced BEFORE you are in a survival situation. Start right now beginning to implement these ideas into your prepping and survival skills now and don't wait until TEOTWAWKI. Remember, prepare for the absolute worst and you will be able to tackle any emergency or survival situation. Stay prepared, be positive, stand strong, and live long!
Survival Essential: First-Aid
As you probably know by now, I believe there are six essentials that are vital to survival in any emergency or survival situation and First-Aid is certainly one of those six. Personally, I don’t rank any of the six essentials higher than the others; I believe they are all of equal importance. Based on the situation one may find themselves in should determine the resource priorities. Understandably, if you are freezing to death then fire or shelter may be your priority over First-Aid. However, if you are bleeding out then you might not be quite as focused on staying warm. We all hope if we are in an emergency or survival situation that our problems of staying alive aren’t compounded by an injury or illness, but accidents do seem to happen at the most inopportune time. I like to think of my First-Aid kit as insurance; I might not have to use it but at least I have it just in case. Let me say right here, First-Aid isn’t just what you have in your kit, but it is also knowledge. To be absolutely honest, the kind of injuries you are likely to encounter in an emergency or survival situation probably won’t be fixed with a band-aid and an aspirin. More than likely, it will be an injury such as a broken bone or deep laceration that requires immediate medical attention, and if you are the only person available then you will be that medical attention. This is where proper knowledge of treating traumatic injuries will be a valuable asset. Believe me when I say that First-Aid should be something that is planned, prepared for, and practiced rigorously. I cannot emphasize enough that practicing for emergencies in the field is vital to insuring you will be properly prepared mentally and physically for any medical emergency that might arise. If you know basic life-saving skills then that’s great, but you need to know more. If you know how to perform CPR, great! If you don’t then learn it and practice that scenario until you feel comfortable about using it in a real situation. Know how to diagnose, set, and splint a broken bone. You should know how to apply a tourniquet in the event of a seriously deep laceration. You should also know how to treat for shock since that usually follows a traumatic injury. And, lets not leave out head injuries; a head injury in the field can very serious. All of these things are very serious and should be treated promptly and calmly. Sure, there are some really cool First-Aid kits available to anybody who might find themselves in an emergency or survival situation, and they are great if you have a blister or a headache. Remember, the choices you make and the actions you take in an emergency medical situation may be the deciding factors in life or death for you or someone close to you. Always plan, prepare, and practice for the worst case scenario. Do this and you will always be ready for anything that may happen in the field and you can be confident that you are the most important tool in your First-Aid kit. Stay
I am a firm believer in first aid and modern medicine, but I also like the simplicity of what alternative forms of healing can do for us in a pinch. Herbs and their wide range of uses and benefits are something that has amazed me since I was just a kid. Granny had a herb for everything and it always seemed to work. Besides, you don't know it works until you put it to some practical use in the field. Stay prepared, stand strong, and live long!

SURVIVAL ESSENTIAL: WATER
We all can recognize the importance of staying hydrated in any emergency or survival situation and water is the best source of replacing loss of liquids in our bodies. If you find yourself in a situation where you are fighting for survival, you will most certainly be expelling liquids through sweat and other bodily fluids. It is extremely important to replace that loss with whatever means of hydration you can possibly find. However, when it comes to water you have to be very careful and use your better judgement. Sure, if you have a way you can store enough potable water for your group for 3, 6, or 12 months that is great, but that really isn’t practical or realistic. Remember, a person should have approximately 1 gallon of water in a 24 hour period to use for consumption and hygiene purposes. So, you have to be able to find a water source at all cost. You need to be sure you have a water source which is readily available if needed. You have to realize that regardless of the situation you may be in, or the environment, there is always water available if you know what you are doing and have done your homework. By surveying the area you are in and using a little common sense you can find a water source to replenish the liquids and nutrients you are losing. When you have found yourself in a survival situation and begin to get thirsty you will better understand the importance of staying hydrated and you will certainly be driven by that need. However, I believe you shouldn’t wait to that point. Ration your water resource as much as you can and replenish the water you have stored by at least the same rate of usage if at all possible. Do whatever you have to find, collect, and store as much water as you possibly can. You CAN find water, but you can also collect water by using a variety of methods. Use the tools, resources, and nature to your advantage. Collect rainwater even if you have plenty of water; like they say, waste not, want not. Learn the valuable skill of collecting water through condensation/collection techniques, so if you are unable to find a natural water source, you won’t have to succumb to thirst. But, I said before, there ARE valuable water resources available if you simply search and use your head. Remember, wherever you may be, there are also animals within that area that must drink. Follow the game trails, and understand the physics of how water travels and you WILL find a reliable water source. That might be a pond, lake, stream, or river but you have to have it as clean as possible. Remember, the last thing you need in a survival situation is Dysentery, Hepatitis, or any of the many waterborne illnesses caused by consuming unclean water. WATER PURIFICATION IS ESSENTIAL!! Water can be purified by a number of means, and we all know there is always boiling of course. Also, there are water purification tablets and many compact filtering systems on the market. Keeping a few bottles of Iodine around is always handy, just a few drops will kill any bacteria in water and it is safe to consume. Keep in mind that if all of these water filtration methods are unavailable, you can make filters by using easy to find items in nature. A simple water filter can be made using sand, charcoal, and cloth. Take time to learn these methods and you will find water purification a simple, but necessary task in the field if it is ever needed. So, now we know the importance of water and staying hydrated in a survival situation. Also, we know that water sources ARE available to us if we use a little common sense. Finally, we know that we absolutely have to consume nothing but purified water to avoid illnesses. Knowing these things will help ensure your survival. REMEMBER, study all the techniques and tips you can because planning, practicing, and preparing equals survival.

ISIS targets service members...
Everyone should be asking themselves, "Am I prepared for this to happen in the US"? Isis is using social media to target service members and their families and I believe the threat is already here, and should be taken seriously.
