Reminder for Nonbinary Peeps

You can be amab (assigned male at birth) and still use the word trixic. You can be afab (assigned female at birth) and still use the word toric. Amab nonbinary people are not "men lite." Afab nonbinary people are not "women lite." Don't push nonbinary people into gendered categories by trying to gatekeep who can use those terms. Trixic and Toric are meant for every nonbinary person.

Mestric culture is thinking you might be mestric after thinking you were anattractional for so long (I still have no clue what sexual or romantic attraction feels like but I might experience it?) but finding almost no information about the diamoric experience because every nblm and nblw post is just an mlm or wlw post hastily tagged with that as “inclusion”. I’m sorry, but you’re not including me like that. That makes me feel like either a man-lite or woman-lite.

Anyway I might be nblm but I have no clue.

i don't know if you specifically identify as toric, but there's @toricenby and @toricpride who both reaffirm that toric/nblm includes all nonbinary people and is not mlm-light. i haven't checked out these blogs myself a lot though (but as a fellow nblm i probably should). i hope you find a home somewhere. 💜

As someone who thought they were asexual and somewhere on the aro spectrum, and coming to tumblr to try and figure things out, only to see people still treating our experiences as binary, I definitely empathise with anon.

Nblm and nblw are not the same as mlm or wlw, but some non-binary people may relate to these labels or experiences. But only some. This is unfortunate for those who don’t relate at all and get grouped together. I also believe the people who are strictly mlm or wlw just tag nblm or nblw to reach a wider audience, which is honestly… not cool. I feel negatively about that.

To be transparent, I am nblm and transmasculine, so I do relate somewhat to mlm too. I also discovered I’m nblw as well, though I’m nowhere near being wlw. My own personal experience doesn’t mean that every nblm is a little bit mlm, this is purely because I’m transmasculine, and not every non-binary person is. Many are transneutral or transfeminine, and it’s so important to realise that when talking about non-binary people’s attraction to men.

all of this very much. also you don't even have to fall into any of those categories and be nblm. an afab nonbinary woman can be nblm and it's not "basically straight" (although it may be for some), and many nonbinary people may fall outside of femininity, masculinity and neutrality altogether and be nblm. all of those experience matter so much. i'm nblm myself and in a relationship with a guy and people either want me to be straight or mlm and it's just not happening. gay, sure, but not the way you (general) think.
