Rewatching MHA is a delight when you have context of Katsuki's development. When I first watched the show his explosive personality eclipsed every other detail about his character. But now? I find it funny how despite his apparent rejection of Izuku he actually pays attention to the green bean. Like, a lot. He wondered how Izuku did in the physical test, followed him (I'm assuming this one because he might just accidentally walked nearby but yep who am I kidding) when Izuku had The Talk with Shoto, noticed the connection between the boy and All Might, and listens (albeit unwillingly) when classmates flock to Izuku's desk to talk about stuff.
After the ground beta fight, it felt like he finally had been allowed to return-wiggle his way into Izuku's life and he LATCHED onto the opportunity. He helped out with Izuku's training, paid attention to everything All Might was saying about the past wielders, and is simply hyper aware of everything that happens with Izuku. If he was paying attention but trying his best to deny it by rejection before, he is now openly showing that he's watching.
It only gets better because he wants Izuku to watch him too
And you know what, good for him
