Hey, isn’t that TORIN O'CONNOR. I thought they went away for the summer? Did you hear they might be a HUMAN ? What I do know for certain is that they’re 39, and they’re LOYAL and CORRUPT. They’re originally from FENRIRSWOOD, and have been in FENRIRSWOOD since BIRTH living in WOOD ROAD. I wonder if they still work at FENRIR POLICE STATION as a DETECTIVE. Best if they stay safe for now.

as much as she wanted to poke fun of his detective hunches, dilara knew better to do so with everything happening in town. people were working hard to solve these crimes, and now there was a curse on top of it? of all things? great. she wondered if everyone had been marked, but it seemed to be too soon to tell. “i don’t always run…” she shook her head, but was quick to continue. “but with everything that’s happened, i felt like yoga wasn’t going to be enough to get mind mind off things.” taking one step closer to him, dilara tilted her head, as if trying to read his body language. she had learned how to sympathize with torin. his father was a complete asshole, who definitely didn’t deserve to have someone like torin in his life. sometimes it happened… sometimes, controlling parents didn’t deserve their kids. “how are you holding up, detective? could i bother you to some tea?”

"hmm." torin hums keeping his expression blank, he wasn't one to give much away by his tone of voice or whatever look might cross his features in fleeting moments. "they say exercise is good for the mind as much as it is for the body." he adds as a final glance is taken back at the words on the wall in front of them. perhaps he should take a break, he wondered. a hike or brief visit to the gym might help clear his own mind and work through things, however with his father breathing down his neck often he'd surely have some complaint if torin wasn't constantly working, or at least working in favour of the Fenrir pack. better to not let his focus slip from the case in order to keep his father happy. "fine, yeah..." he mumbles through with a little nod of the head in response to her question, blue eyes moving back to meet hers. he was sure he was holding up better than others, so a short answer was all anyone would receive on his end. "not much of a tea lover, wouldn't mind a coffee though." he explains. but the hip flask hidden away inside his jacket pocket was the drink he craved.

“You’d think there has to be, right?” Tariq agreed easily, eyes narrowing a bit at the writing. “Those are connected, I have no doubt in that regard, but…Is this?” He gestured vaguely towards the message. It was only natural at this point to assume everything was related; it had gone up during the vigil, which felt targeted.

But maybe it was coincidental. Maybe it was just a prime opportunity to make their stance known and it had nothing to do with the vigil itself, just that everyone was distracted.

Either way, Tariq couldn’t make much sense of it. “You know anything about a curse?” He finally inquired, turning his gaze back towards Torin and raising an eyebrow. “Or is this just some red herring and we shouldn’t bother with because we have more pressing matters to attend to?” He lifted the cup of coffee to his lips, musing over it with his hands cupped around the heated beverage.

torin casually shakes his head in response. “i figured it’s probably asking too much for it to be someone messing around with a bit of paint, but what else could it be.” torin speaks before clearing his throat. “that would be the easiest option for us, and besides...” - here come the lies - “it must be some kind of joke. they’ve probably watched too many movies about curses and thought that this would be funny.” he says as hand is pulled out of his pocket and gestures to the wall in front of them, sounding irritated with the whole situation. “probably a red herring. delinquent youths interfering and pulling us away from what should be our priority.”

  something about timing always seemed important and she for once hoped her arrival aligned with this chaos meant nothing… just a coincidence. with that hope she focused on finding more about her kind, the town, maybe even her family. the yamans never spoke about leylas last name but a library in a town like this surely would have records or something. yet her hour spent there was no help, on her way out she heard the mumbles from the stranger. “what’re you a detective or something?”

head turns towards the other, one brow raised questioningly. “yeah.” he answers with a flat, unimpressed tone. was everyone in town supposed to know who he was? - no. and truthfully he’d be thankful if most of the didn’t. if he had it his way he would be a nobody, sat in the quiet spot of the quietest bar in town keeping himself to himself. but this was his fathers wish for him, detective constable, a title which didn’t mean much to him but it meant a lot to his father. not because his father wanted him to have a good career, be successful and happy or anything. no, his father wanted someone on the police force in his pocket and who better than his own son. “just trying to catch the kids that did this last night.” he nods towards the words painted on the wall in thick red letters. if anyone asked, that was the story he was going with. kids playing a prank. that’s all it was.

“I hope they take it down soon,” Topher said, when the answer was received. Least they could do, to stop people from having to remember. “I was,” they said. “I didn’t see whomever painted it, I think it must’ve happened when most people were inside. There was food, and such,” they said. “Is it blood?” they asked. “It must’ve been after the rain yesterday, it was rainy almost all evening.”

not only did it make the place look untidy, but having the words on the wall of the library still seemed to leave most of the town unsettled. that included torin. he knew that this wasn't good, and he had an awful feeling in the pit of his stomach that this might be the start of something bigger, something beyond him. "i hope so too," torin agrees with them. there were at least a handful of people that he remembers seeing at the vigil and noted that they were inside at the time, or the approximate time, that this was done. "no-no." he is quick to answer with a firm shake of his head. "just paint. probably just kids playing a cruel prank given what's happened lately. i'm sure they thought it was funny at the time, even if it is a little bit insensitive.  this is nothing to worry about." casually shrugging it off, the least he hoped was that it was a prank, then this would all be a lot easier for him. "it might wash off with the next lot of rain but if not, i'm sure it will be taken down soon.

“Right? If only…” A sigh escaped Malee’s lips as she glanced up at the sky. It would be the perfect place to be right now with everything that has happened. A little escape from all the chaos. At Torin’s advice, she tensed slightly as it was a little too late for that. Even if it were a familiar place, she still had to remain vigilant—especially with what happened a couple of nights ago when she had closed Rune Ink. ‘Set the strugglers free.’ echoed in her mind, if only she knew what that meant and how that indescribable force paralyzed her completely. Shaking away the thought, she looked back down at Sora and smiled, “Yeah…He’s a keeper.” she replied with a gentle tone. 

“It must be non-stop for you.” Attaching Sora’s leash, she nodded in the direction of the nearest cafe. “Come, my treat. You deserve a break from…all this.”

mans best friend. that’s what he’d heard them say about dogs, but for torin there were enough animals to keep tabs on, never mind one which would depend on him solely for food and shelter. at least the animal around here, for the most part, weren’t always animals. “have they got a name?” he asks as he watches malee place the leash back on the dog.

“nonsense, its my job. and there’s not much rest for the wicked and all that.” another useless saying he’d heard somewhere at some time throughout his life, not even sure where it came from. “but if you’re sure, and don’t mind it being a quick one.”

Topher frowned at the words, they were back for whatever reason, probably because they wanted to see the words in the light of day, wondering if it had been a dream. They looked less scary, but still present, like an ugly scar on the building. “Are they not removing it?” he asked the other, crossing his arms. Perhaps a dumb question, for all he knew, this person had nothing to do with that, but it was in the way he said it: that this was going to be complicated.

“huh?”  as the noise leaves the detectives mouth his head turns towards the other posing the question. just then he realised he had spoken his thoughts out loud, not intending for anyone else to hear him. his eyes glance back up to the words on the library once more before glancing back towards them. “no.” he says with a quick shake of his head. “not yet anyway.” torin adds before taking a step closer to the library as if he’d get a better view of what he’d already been staring at. what did it mean?  he wondered. “where you at the vigil?” he asks suddenly, eyes still on the writing on the wall.

it wasn’t often that dilara would go out early in the morning for a run. running, she would simply leave it to her wolf form, but, given then whirlwind of emotions that were still going through her chest and she didn’t particularly know how to deal with them yet, running was her best choice that morning. she had just stopped to catch her breath when she realized she was by the library again, a pang of–whatever that feeling was, hitting deep in her gut.

“rough morning already, detective?” dilara asked, rather absentmindedly as she ran her fingers through her hair, untying her wavy strands, only to tie them into a ponytail again. wood road would have made them closer–if either of them had given the chance.

“something like that.” the response is spoken as fingertips run over rough stubble along his jawline. he stops as his arms come to cross over in front of him before his eyes finally move away from the words that were leaving him puzzled. only then did the detective turn towards the voice that had spoken, eyes landing on a neighbour and member of fenrir pack alongside his father. 

“dilara,” he nods in greeting towards her, noticing the running attire. “do you always run out this way?” he asked, head nodding towards the library as he wonders if this is her normal route.

Hearing the familiar voice, Malee dropped her guard and sighed in relief once she saw Torin come into view. At least it was someone she knew and not some stranger questioning why she was not paying attention. It’s been a rough couple of days with everything that’s been going on, therefore she felt as if everyone in Fenrir’s Wood deserved some sort of break. 

“I wish…” replied the witch as she huffed a sigh and accepted the ball back. “I feel like if clouds were tangible things, they’d be comfy as fuck to lay down in…” Shaking her head, Malee shrugged and clarified by adding, “You KNOW how it is around here…Everyone’s not sure how to act other than being vigilant of their surroundings…” Meeting his gaze, she then asked, “Are you on the clock right now, detective?”

after handing back the ball he dropped his hand back down by his side, a short-lived chuckle passed through his lips at the mention of clouds being comfy. “sounds heavenly.” he comments, smile pulling up at the corners of his mouth causing the sides of his eyes to crinkle slightly. “that is the best thing to do right now. and don’t go anywhere unfamiliar alone, but i you’ll be alright with this one protecting you.” he nods towards the akita inu, and although it was a necessary suggestion, he kept it light, his best way to keep anyone in town from worrying too much whilst still remaining alert to the presence of something dangerous in their town.

with a subtle nod he answers briefly. “always.”  with three murders and the graffiti on the walls of the library torin couldn’t afford not to be on the clock until this was solved. “i’d skipped lunch, but was in dire need to coffee so i was just going to grab some.”

“You’re tellin’ me,” Tariq grumbled, approaching the scene with fresh (ish) eyes and a coffee cup in hand. The words had been turning over in his head all night long, kept him up for hours as he attempted to puzzle out what the meaning could possibly be.

Let the curse end. The curse? What curse? Curses…weren’t real. At least, he was rather certain they weren’t. He would’ve heard far more about such things before now if they were. Plus, their home wasn’t exactly anything special. If curses were a thing - wouldn’t it be on the big cities? London? New York?

He wasn’t made for this shit. “Even before all this,” Tariq gestured vaguely at the graffiti, “three obvious murders was…complicated enough.”

for a moment his eyes move away from the library where they had been fixated for some time. eyes land on tariq approaching and torin knew he would have to try and direct this away from the fenrir pack, or else he’d have his father breathing down his neck. nothing new there.  but he was used to walking the thin line between what was right and what he considered a vague grey area of the law.  whilst he wished life was more simple, that werewolves weren’t something that exist, he simply had no choice but to accept that he did. some might say he had a choice in aiding the fenrir pack but torin would disagree. he was loyal, even if he wasn’t part of the pack his father was and that narrowed down his choices in life greatly.

 “mhmm” he mumbles in response as he drops his hand away from his chin and shoves it into the pocket of his jeans.  “there must be some connection between the three victims. we need to find that connection”  although torin is stating the obvious, it helps to work things out by speaking it out loud.

this vacation also gave her the ability to enjoy a few glasses of wine outside of the comfort of her couch , where she was usually donned in her cotton nightgowns and enjoying her favorite Netflix show. there wasn’t a lot of time for that either as of late, the pack meetings were a daily thing now it had seemed. not minding it at all , they were her family. family protects each other , especially during scary times such as now.

as she sits at the bar , the dark mahogany bar top caught her eye. gnawing at the inside of her cheek , tilting her head. “ you know what kind of wood this is made out of , it’s mesmerizing. ” slightly intoxicated eyes looking at the bartender , whom looked at her with a quizzical look and a shrug. “ what about you ? ” lunara now staring at the very familiar face two seats down from her , not hiding the fact her eyes go wide with surprise. the two had complicated history. 

“ i - ignore the question , detective o’connor. ” tone filled with some satire , not even attempting to hide it. “ unless you can use your sleuth skills and figure it out for me. ” hands delicately grabbing the glass of whit moscato and putting it to her lips.

sat in his usual spot at the bar, the place he could be found most nights at the end of a long day. after a few vodkas  he would soon be on his way home, where he would again sit with a bottle of vodka or whiskey whilst def leppard played on alexa.

as he places the empty glass back down on the bar a familiar voice is heard, one which he wished he hadn’t and wasn’t quick enough to get away from. he looks at lunara with an eyebrow raised questioningly before he looks down at the area of the bar in front of him. choosing not to ignore the question, a closed first knocks on the bar top a couple of times as if that would tell him something. he had no idea really. “looks like walnut.” he said with all the confidence of a carpenter familiar with various species of wood. fingertips trace over the lines and grooves of the dark, rich coloured wood surface, admiring the knots and ridges of the natural surface top.  “it’s nice.” he comments with a dry tone before making eye contact with the bartender and nodding, signaling for another drink.

One thing that Malee found convenient about Rune Ink’s location was how it was close to businesses and recreation areas. Without a doubt, it was a gentrified area, but because she frequented the place, it was easier to do her day to day errands since she was already there. After leaving Sora with the groomers at lunch, she finished up the rest of her shift before picking him up and decided that it was best to walk him at Grant Park. For once the weather was cooperating and so, it worked out for the both of them as Sora could do his business while being active. 

Staring aimlessly into the open space, she was playing fetch with her dog and got distracted by being deep in her thoughts. It’s been a couple of days since the vigil and she’s been trying to keep busy, whether it be with work or helping out the coven with their grievances. Overall, she remained vigilant as she wanted to prevent another loss of their own. Snapping out of her blank trance, she noticed the akita inu sitting and staring back at her, but with no ball in sight. “…PLEASE tell me you didn’t lose it, I JUST got you that toy…” Mal’s voice trailed off before she could continue her lecture after noticing an individual approaching and holding Sora’s ball. “Oh, that’s where it went…” Pausing, she gave her dog a disappointing head shake before returning her attention to the other. “Sorry about that, I should have paid more attention when I threw that. Thanks for returning it!”

there hadn’t been a moment of rest for the detective since the murders, but coming up short and working late into the night had started taking it’s toll. tired looking eyes lifted up from the computer where he sat at his desk. lunch had been skipped and the machine at the station had ran out of coffee sometime after the morning briefing. perhaps fresh air and hot coffee might help get his mind in the right gear to focus and so he hoped that taking a break would allow him to come back feeling refreshed as if he could work through the information he already had with a new pair of eyes.

it wasn’t long before torin was walking through grant park, hands buried into pockets as he used the park as a short cut to get to the nearest coffee house. before he had chance to react a ball is heading in his direction, and with hands remaining in pockets he simply swerved to dodge it, making no attempts to catch the ball. blue eyes drift over in the direction it had come from, seeing the akita inu along with the owner, a familiar face. malee? it was at this moment he realized just how tired he was, and how desperate he was for a little fix of caffeine to perk him up, since he should be able to remember a name. deciding to pick the ball up and hand it back he strolls over with ball in hand and an amiable smile on lips.  “no worries” torin speaks holding up a hand as if to show an apology wasn’t necessary. “looked like you had your head in the clouds there for a second.” he says on approach as he extends an arm out offering the ball back.

LET THE CURSE END.  the words that he had been staring at for at least the last fifteen minutes.  he’d hoped that the third murder would have been the last of them, but of course he knew better. he knew that until they’d caught whoever was behind this that things would continue to go from bad to worse.  however, now torin was thinking this was a what more than a who.   “let the curse end.” he mumbles the words as an hand comes up to rub over the scratchy stubble on his chin. “didn’t expect this to be easy but this just got a helluva lot more complicated.” torin grumbles, permanent frown etched across tired features.

Born and raised within Fenrirswood to Killian O'Connor (werewolf) and Amelia O'Connor nee Greene. When Torin was 11 years old his father made the decision to give his wife the bite, however before their eyes Amelia did not survive, skewing Torin's view on werewolves and becoming one which his father always intended. However, from this moment on his father changed into a cold, harsh man as he grieved and never fully recovered from the loss of his wife. Killian would often take the brunt of his anger out on Torin, emotional abuse mostly, but there was occasions during the full moon where before he'd shift he would be more physically aggressive towards the young Torin. His teenage years were quite a struggle living under his fathers roof and counting down the days until he could leave, but his father had plans for Torin to remain, eventually for him to be bitten and join the Fenrir pack which his father was part of. During his late teens Killian tried to influence Torin by befriending another wolf within the pack who was a similar age to Torin. In Killian’s mind he thought that if Torin could love another wolf he'd be more likely to join but this only pushed Torin further away as his mind was set in stone. He would not, and never would allow his father to give him the bite that would either change or end his life. Despite this, he was forced into social situations with the other young wolf (Lunara) and initially he resented her as he thought she was going along with everything his father wanted. The pair had a faux friendship for a time simply to stop the abuse of Torin received from his father. Moody, distant and angry with his father Torin began drinking from a young age, his own way of escaping by finding fun in the nights out at the local bars and pubs. As the years passed without realizing he had become dependent on drink, and now in his late 30's as a functioning alcoholic Torin is barely hanging on by a thread however hiding it well.

ex-girlfriend - preferably human , they would have been together for at least a few years, a fairly serious relationship but torin never took any steps towards commitment. the ex-girlfriend would have been one of the only people to discover who dependent he is on alcohol and this may have been the reason for their break up , however it can all be plotted.   [0/1]

current fling - whilst his father has always pushed for him to be with a member of the fenrir pack torin has done everything he can to make sure this doesn’t happen.  this current fling is just that , more to prove a point to his father than anything else. they would have no affiliation to werewolves.  torin will not commit and this would be a fling that will end - please be conscious of this before taking up this connection.   [0/1]

colleagues - anyone who works within any area of the police force / law sector. torin is a little corrupt. often asked by his father to help when the fenrir pack gets in trouble with the law , torin may be the reason evidence mysteriously goes missing. perhaps a colleague who is suspicious of him, or questions why the evidence is missing but doesn’t suspect his involvement.   [0/?]

witches that aid fenrir pack - witches who could be allies , at first torin would have been reluctant to work alongside them as he is reluctant in having anything to do with the fenrir pack , but over time he could have learnt to trust them or not.    [0/?]
