It’s been more than a surprise when the men came into Oliver’s domain. Months have passed and truthfully Oliver half expected him and his son to be left in the city while everyone had flee’d for the country. No doubt it’s safer to be out of the city and Oliver should have long left as well with his son.
However, as the time passed, Oliver didn’t see a reason to do so. It’s hard to travel with his boy and returning to the city for food and medical needs. Why leave, when he had everything he wanted or needed. Ammunition has been stocked and other items to keep the two safe. Benjamin was happy enough with the bed and makeshift tent surrounding the mattress.
He wanted to cringe when they did go into the stairway. His late partner had gotten bitten and Oliver couldn’t part so easily… he’d lure survivors and turned his lover into a weapon to get his own way. Later he decided it was a danger when it came to his son.
While he didn’t want to think about it, he turned his focus to his son. The small boy with the brightest blue eyes he’d gotten from his mother. It served as a reminder, but he did love his son more than anything. He watched while the boy struggled to find a way to free him. It was incredibly charming. The moment was interrupted when one of the men came to talk with Oliver.
He glanced up to glare at the man and offered a shrug.
“Doesn’t it speak for itself? They wanted to do exactly what you’re doing. I only want my son to be safe and… well it was the only way to make sure they wouldn’t come back.”
"What am I doing?" Robert asked, genuinely curious. He could make a good guess on what this man assumed and that would be to take what they could carry and leave them. Which wasn't what they were doing. No, Robert planned to bring them back with him. The major cities weren't safe for anyone anymore.
They've been given a warning from Russia three weeks prior stating that all major cities would be 'flattened'. A rough translation, but they got an idea of what they meant. Now they were doing their last rounds, combing throughout the city before they move camp to a safer location. No one knew the range of these bombs or if they were radioactive, so they planned to head south and they will settle. In Brighton or Somerset, they hope.
Robert filled him in, in-length, leaving nothing out.
"--it would take us about a week to get there. There's roughly sixty of us and there's always room for two more. I'm sure your boy would like to be around more people, specifically those around his own age..." Robert glanced over to said child, who was now busying himself with an ATM and a small stack of gift cards.

They found him in a Tesco, of all things.
It was a brilliant idea, no doubt about that, and their camp could use that kind of ingenuity, but it... The way the building was bordered and reinforced like a fortress, Robert and the rest of his team had assumed that there would be more survivors inside. But there wasn't. It was just a man and his son hiding inside.
The boy didn't seem to mind the intrusion. Most likely more ecstatic to see other people than to worry if they were only there to take their food or supplies. The man on the other hand had to be subdued and cuffed whilst they took a look around. Robert could understand that anger and could admit that he would've done the same. Defend his family and home, that sort of thing.
From what they found and salvaged from the freezers the food would've been enough to feed a group of, at least, twelve people for half a year. Perhaps more if it were to be rationed properly.
One of the men whistled appreciatively from somewhere in the back, apparently finding the canned and picked foods. "They had it good. Is it just those two here?"
And no, it wasn't always just those two hiding here. Near the toilets there was a door that led to the roof of this place and on the walls leading up the staircase told Robert a rather disturbing story. Nail marks, mismatched shoes and black stains-- there used to be more people hiding here.
Robert ordered them to start loading up what they can and then went to go talk to the man cuffed to the automatic check-out. It was a rather comical sight; a tall man seated on the scanner while his son tried to buy him, under the impression that he could be freed if he had enough money.
"What happened in that stairway?" Straight to the point. If he was going to bring these two back to camp with him then he needed to know if it was safe.

Oh, now that’s right. The two still attended classes— which the young info broker seemed to have forgotten. Lately his phone has been busy with messages from Michael. It would seem he wasn’t going to be around to deliever the documents. Instead he was more charmed by Robert— school was important after all.
He glanced back at Robert with a coy expression. ”I might be, I’m extremely busy with studies and my job after classes— however, that all depends on what you want.”
"Tell me something I don’t know."
He didn’t bother to react much to the lean. It’s how he liked to keep things— most of the time. Right now, Oliver should have been busy with work and trying to out rank other information brokers that stood as a threat to him, but he did make enough time to fool around with uni kids like Robert.
Robert huffed a derisive laugh and licked his lips. He was pleasantly surprised to see Oliver walk before the lecture started. Robert didn't think he'd make it on time seeing as they were both rushing to get out of bed only forty minutes ago. Could only imagine how he must've looked running to get back to his dorm for a change of clothes.
"I know it's too early for this, but are you free later?"

Robert's eyes followed Oliver all the way to his desk. He likes what he sees and he was practically making a whole show of it too. When the younger male was close enough, Robert leaned forward with a grin.
"I like your suit. 'Hugs in all the right places."

The shifted quickly when Oliver was met with Michael. The playful body language turned into one that was hostile. His lip twitched in annoyance, but he kept to a professional approach. It wasn’t any news that Oliver feared Michael, but he could fake his flare of confidence in the company of this crime lord.
”What are you doing here? I thought Robert liked to keep his company clean?”
Michael's eyes drifted down, gauging Oliver's body language and the corner of his mouth twitched up in response. This was an interesting development. He was told that this man, Robert Grant, was nothing special. Divorced, middle-aged man with two children, a boring job and an equally boring day-to-day routine. Perhaps just a passing fancy for Michael's informant--until things stopped adding up.
Oliver couldn't be arsed to fuck with the local hitman for more than a day, so what was so special about a boring, old accountant? To put it bluntly, Michael sensed a threat and his senses were rarely wrong. So he has another informant on the job now. Michael only came here to have a look around; glimpse at the man that managed to hold Oliver's attention for so long.
The book in his hand snapped shut. Michael only ever answers what he wants to answer, Oliver knew better than anyone than to try make demands.
"Oh?" Michael questioned, eyes narrowed. "And how would he know that I'm not 'clean'?"

Was it rude of him to make himself at home in this space? Well it wasn’t like he cared if it was rude or not. Robert should just be happy that Oliver was ever going out of his way to meet with the older gentleman.
"You could hardly blame him, he's a creature of habit after all." Michael was standing before Robert's collection of books with his fingers dancing along the spines. The crime lord didn't seem surprised to see Oliver there.
He picked a book off the shelves and turned, facing Oliver whilst flipping through it. The book was about Psychopathy. "He's got an odd taste in literature for an accountant, don't you think?"
As soon as the door shut, Oliver found himself sitting on the bed and he could feel the tears streaming down his face. It wasn’t Robert’s fault— no. It was Robert’s fault, but the Informant did need to cut the man some slack for staying at his side this long. He knew he couldn’t deal with anyone in his current state. He’d grow bored and move on with something even more interesting.
Funny how things worked out.
The anger bubbled up and so did the sadness conflicting as well. He hated how this second personality continued to linger when Oliver wanted control. He didn’t realize he was sobbing at this point.
How long has be been doing that? Could Robert hear him?
Pausing to glance over at the door. He wanted to call out for Robert. As much as Oliver didn’t like it— he still needed Robert. He needed the very man that managed to break Oliver Lancaster. Stubbornly he threw himself on the bed and reached out for one of his pillows to clutch at tightly. Pressing his features into the pillow and sighed.
Robert was seated at the dinner table. His suit jacket was slung over the back of one of chairs, navy blue and white tie hung loosely around his collar and white shirt sleeves rolled up to mid-forearm. He had his hands tucked under his chin, outwardly he seemed calm and patiently waiting, if not for the crease in his brow and his leg bouncing under the table.
Indecision and worry plagued him, his mind coming up with scenarios and their outcomes ranging from tame to outright outlandish. Since Oliver's muffled cries have quieted, the silence seemed to amplify his raging emotions. Silence could mean anything, especially from someone as unpredictable as Oliver in his current condition. The informant could be in a homicidal rage and trying to lure Robert into the bedroom, or he could be contemplating suicide--perhaps already tying a makeshift noose around his neck, or he could have exhausted himself and simply fell asleep.
All of this could happen, maybe something worse--yet he couldn't stop worrying for his informant's well being. Is he fine? There was only the one way to find out. He's had enough space, whether he liked it or not.
Robert's knuckles wrapped lightly on the door twice before he let himself inside, utterly relieved to find that Oliver ad not locked the door. The room was dark, the only light source came from the open door, making an aggressive contrast and just a bit over-dramatic in Robert's opinion.
Brown eyes immediately zeroed in on Oliver's form on the bed, curled into a defensive ball and clutching at a pillow. His eyes softened and he came to Oliver's side, combing his fingers through Oliver's sweaty curls.
"Oh, Sunshine," he whispered and sat at the edge of the bed, pulling Oliver close until his head was pillowed by Robert's lap.
"How are you feeling?"
