Hiye I'm @splynter. Welcome to the insane unwell deranged rambling blog about the god of winter and her other half. She made me lose my mind as soon as she appeared and now I'm making it everyone else's problem. Someone come blow me up. Cult of the Lamb spoilers will be everywhere.

Due to the nature of my connection, I am Nonsharing with Yngya and I prefer not to discuss other romantic pairings that include her. I am not comfortable with other Yngya shippers - selfship or not - following or interacting with me

My Cotl oc/self insert is named Shaa (They/he). They are a batlike god with semi-incorporeal features and shifting galaxy colors. They adorn themself with ceremonial bandages, prayer talismans, and dangling jewelry. Upon their head is the pointed, angular Star Crown of Dreams. They are a little chaotic, a little nonsensical, very curious but pretty asocial. There's a bit of sadistic glee in their work. They are someone whose motives are enigmatic and misaligned with most crowned gods. Shaa offers comfort. Escape. Rest. Yngya offers her power. Her vast reach. Her cold, solidifying touch. They bound to each other with a ritual crafted solely for eternal entanglement, and their bloods pound with ice and sleep. They have a toyhouse too :]

Questions are allowed and encouraged lmao. I like yapping and I need the excuse to get used to talking about them

My specific boundaries are under the cut, please read them before sending me asks. I do not have a DNI, I just block whoever I want

Mentioning shipping/sexual content that involves her

More specifically: Making me aware of AU versions of Yngya. I prefer her canon design or the design I made. I'm a bit picky on certain ways people draw her in general, but it's not nearly as offputting as an AU version, you know?

Informing me about other Cotl OCs with a similar concept or appearance as Shaa

Making comments about Yngya that focus heavily on her being a mother, especially comments like “Mommy” or “milf”

Calling Yngya my wife. Conventional marriage doesn’t apply to us, and I prefer to refer to her as my half, my god, etc

Referring to Shaa and Yngya’s relationship as “Yuri.” Shaa is not feminine and thus using the term would be incorrect

Generally talking about Yngya as if you’re attracted to her. I’d rather not know that, thank you

Calling this a yumeship. No huge reason, I just don't vibe with the term and prefer selfship

Shaa's Cult, timeline highlights

The cult of eternal sleep is a unique kind of religion, with many of its devotees not even residing within the Labyrinth. Shaa's guidance was short and limited, focused primarily on maintaining only specific practices and rituals.

A cult leader, called the Head, would be appointed every several generations to lead the cult as they pleased, so long as the primary focus of worship remained as Shaa.

The timeline gets long, so I'm putting it under a cut. All of these are assumed to last for at least a hundred years or more

Early Era

This is the beginning of Shaa's rule as the vessel of dreams. The most involved Shaa had ever been in the cult, this era is talked about in legends and religious stories about the presence of gods among them. Shaa was very active in this time, working out the kinks of follower management and cult construction

Characteristics:

Led by Juntin (they/them)

Probably the most chaotic version of the cult

Only the most basic of rituals, mainly for generating worship or influencing followers

Juntin knew Shaa at their most "mortal." A young god who was learning how to be

Most follower friendly rituals and changes at this time were by Juntin

Not much structure but a lot of ideas

Met Yngya

This era of the cult had settled into its place. The ideas and basic concepts that Shaa had wanted from the beginning are more finalized here. The cult functions pretty seamlessly, and the lineage of the Heads has been established. Shaa's presence is minimal, busy with other things and meeting a certain god

Characteristics:

Led by Loth (she/her)

More structured, traditions and holidays have been established, rituals are more fleshed out

Loth is the one who started the "pilgrims walking around with teeny Shaa idols" thing that is a bit of a staple of Shaa's cult in the present day

She was interested in expanding the cult's population rather than strengthening the followers they already had

Loth does not learn about Torpor, this shit stretched out for AGES

Torpor's Alliance

This era saw an odd alliance with another god and her cult. They traded traditions and rituals, effigies and sacred items. Hibernation is an honor and lambs are welcomed, by order of the dream god themself.

Characteristics:

Led by Althy (he/him)

Structure was overhauled a LOT in this time. Althy saw it as a challenge of sorts

Focus pivoted again to the worship of different states of consciousness. Drugs, alcohol, and comas were much more prevalant

The addition of Yngya's influence meant a lot of what her cult valued began to be valued here

Shaa appeared surprisingly often, despite also being occupied with . Other Things

The God War and Yngya's Disappearance

In addition to the loss of winter, other gods were slaughtering each other during this era. To protect themself, Shaa migrated their cult even deeper into the Labyrinth caverns and did not show themself often. The seasons stopped changing, and time stagnated. Dreams began to fade from memory

Characteristics:

Led by Grelgry (he/they)

During this violent point, Grelgry decided to focus on keeping the cult secure. Lots of rituals to keep spirits up, things to keep people safe, etc

The coma ritual was very popular during this time, as it was peaceful and safe and the mortals didn't have to feel as afraid

Once they relocated their cult, Shaa never appeared again during this era

The Return of Death and Woolhaven

This era is somewhat set in the present day, while the Lamb killed the bishops and eventually revived Yngya's spirit. This cult had been set in its ways for a very long time, evading the violent wrath of the bishops with quiet patience.

Characteristics:

Led by Thulre (she/her)

Thulre had ambitions and wanted to improve the cult even under the threat of the Bishops

The cult experiences a surprising amount of industrial upgrades during this time

She tried to remove the long abandoned Yngya shrines in the Labyrinth but Shaa stopped her

She WANTS to make diplomatic relations with the Lamb, but she also fears the consequences of making the cult known.

There may be a time where the new god of death encounters Shaa, but that era has yet to pass.

Shaa as a self insert oc

The way I've developed Shaa is significantly distinct from other ocs—or even self inserts—that I've made before. Other self inserts were often just versions of myself with a few cherry-picked things that identified them as Me. They were more like idealized versions of me than anything else. However, with how important this stuff is to me, I wanted Shaa to be a much more intentional and personal developed character

Shaa is more me than any of my self inserts, oddly enough. They’re essentially an oc abstraction of myself, to live as their own person but to be directly linked back to me in a way that other ocs aren’t. I’ve given them pieces of my traits, my situations, my motifs, all in a way that like. When Yngya is bound to Shaa, it will also be me. She would find the same connection in me because of the links Shaa has.

Yet they're most definitely also an oc with their own thoughts, experiences, and personality. There's a lot of factors to keep track of, including the probability of Yngya seeing them as a suitable pair in the first place. It’s very important to me that Shaa’s existence is thematically coherent and understandable as the other half without interfering with what’s already there

Shaa has my scars, my freckles, pieces of my past and my behaviors. They’re representative of my best and worst attributes, a canvas given a place to grow and become someone else with my center. They have that room to grow where I’m still limited, which just makes exploring them as an individual with Yngya that more fulfilling to me

Black holes, sunsets, stars, dreams and sleep and the dark, the intensity of relationships beyond the typical understanding of romance… they’re poetry to me in a way

It’s difficult to properly explain the distinction Shaa has in my mind, but this is about as close as I can get
