My simple change today was putting on some red lipstick. Even though it was so small, I caught myself trying to hide my lips all day..,like I was being a little too much.
My beautiful roommate had a show for her dance company tonight and instead of liking her instagram post that I am sure is to follow, I gave her a few likes in person :)
My embarrassing object are my two front teeth. Ever since I got my adult teeth all I ever wanted for Christmas was my two front teeth...to be closer together. I had braces all of my junior and senior year of high school but as soon as they came off I was right back to square one. Now that I’m more of an adult I’m less bothered by my smile but it will ever be my most embarrassing object.

For my “Body In Place” art assignment, I used a picture of myself from last year as there was no snow on the ground here. Snow is something that is a link to my childhood and my home back in Cleveland, Ohio. This picture was taken freshmen year when I was homesick and wishing for something familiar, and then it snowed. :)
For my “Whats Your Problem?” Art Assignment, I asked a friend for her advice and how to better connect with my long-distance boyfriend over the phone. Her advice was to push deeper past the usual “How are you?” “Good, how are you?” and make sure we both know we are comfortable hearing and sharing the good, bad, and the ugly from our days. During our nightly phone call, I asked my boyfriend how his day was and made sure I pushed past the pleasantries and made sure he knew I was okay hearing the hard stuff too.

Among all of the states, standards focused on facts we wanted children to know (kinds of colors, kinds of shapes, what happy and sad mean, etc.). Though the Basic Concepts article references how these standards are appropriate for the social and emotional growth of the child, there are no explicit standards to address anything but academic development. This focus suggests that we want to assure competency in academic content areas throughout early grades and that social, emotional, creative, and intellectual development is something that can occur without standards, or is not a focus for educators.
I do think that academics should have the primary focus but I also think that the four other forms of development are vital and through focus on them, children can more easily reach academic goals. Therefore, I think there should also be standards for things such as how well children conserve, understand and handle emotions, and express creativity.

To help Casey with her linguistic and academic development, I would want to work with her on her letter sounds and with her conversational skills. For conversational skills, I would try to scaffold Casey’s learning by giving Casey examples of further responses to other students or examples of how she can initiate conversation with her peers.
In order to scaffold Casey’s learning, I would first want to observe more to determine what Casey can and cannot do as it relates to conversational skills. Then I would provide examples for her to obverse slightly more complex conversation (multiple back and forth responses, asking questions, using details etc.) by either having conversations with more advanced students or another adult. Then I would encourage Casey to communicate with me using these strategies and then continue on to observe a conversation between Casey and a peer and give Casey reminders on when to respond, ask a question, or provide more detail.
Nameless figures
potential triggers
creeping in motion undiscovered
it feels as though they know whats under
empty faceless dolls
they know what makes me fall
they know what make me falter
they crave my silence as they alter
left my mind a maze once departed
i’ve lost my brain I’ve lost my heart in
whatever was left behind
whatever they felt was best to hide
these faceless demons
that steal your meaning.
