Himeko let out a sigh of relief as Luchia said she didn’t mind covering for her – but when Luchia mentioned she could’ve stayed at her house, Himeko suddenly felt the need to explain herself. “O-Oh I know, Luchia-chan! And I would have, truly! B-But …. I really wanted to see Kaito-kun…” She added softly, brown eyes aimed towards the mug in front of her.
As her friend went on, Himeko took sips of her latte. She knew what Luchia meant about his instability and while Himeko did realize Kaito did have a tendency to be, well … unpredictable – she was also pretty confidant that he’d never do anything to hurt her. “I know, but … “ The girl sighed, shrugging her shoulders. “He’s done bad things but I don’t think he’s a bad person. And … I don’t think he’ll do anything to hurt me.”
“Even so, do not let your guard down,” The girl insisted, at the very least, “The same would go for any man- men are generally untrustworthy anyways.”
The last thing Luchia wanted was for her friend to be taken advantage of by someone, and while Himeko was not always the most attentive to certain things, her pressing on despite Kaito’s past tendencies shows that perhaps there was more to the man than Luchia was willing to learn about. Though even if Himeko was, it would not stop her from worrying.
“But either way,” Luchia continued, “How did the night go? Did you happen to... sleep in the same bed?”
purewaterprincess:

She watched, quietly and a little stunned as Luchia took the drinks from the table and ordered a set of new ones. It didn’t slip past the girl how her best friend was clearly not impressed with this news – but Himeko truly didn’t think it was anything bad. Other then lying to her father, of course, which was something Himeko had never done. She tried not to lie to her parents.
When Luchia came back with new, hot drinks, Himeko picked up her raspberry latte, taking a soft sip of it. She watched Luchia over the rim of the mug. She could’ve disappeared into nothing from the way Luchia looked at her. Himeko knew she didn’t like Kaito, but hoped to make her see how good he was to her. The meaning of Luchia’s words, however, went completely over Himeko’s innocent little mind. The girl just sat there, blinking for a moment. Luchia’s threat was hard for her to process.
“M-My dad was arguing with his girlfriend last night so I called Kaito-kun to come get me…” She said softly. “He did, too! He came so quickly, I was surprised.” Himeko softly giggled, remembering how he pulled up in that red jeep of his with nothing but a pair of sweatpants on. He truly came to her rescue. “I-I spent the night with him so I didn’t have to go back to the fighting..” She played with the handle of the mug as she spoke. “Kaito-kun was really sweet about the whole thing, truly!” Himeko wanted to convince Luchia that he wasn’t going to hurt her or do something drastic while they spent time together.
“I do not mind covering for you, however... You know you could have stayed the night at my home as well,” Luchia sighed, “I could have had a car sent out for you if need be.”
While the handling of a man like Kaito was of no issue to Luchia, a girl as naive as Himeko could be easily fooled by the cunning tricks of a former yakuza member. Of course, this was not something Luchia expected, she did after all have her own feelings towards Kaito in the past, and knew he did not always mean harm. However, she knew what he was capable of.
“Kaito is... fine, I suppose, but I do not... trust him as much as you may,” She continued, “Like I have said before in the past, I do not necessarily dislike the man, but his instability worries me.”
“I just care for your... safety is all.”
purewaterprincess:

“Oh, that’s alright – I’m sorry you had to waste it, I’ll pay for the new one!” Himeko said confidently, ready to order a new one before Luchia cut herself off. She looked a little shocked as Luchia paused, her eyes glancing over her before questioning her. Himeko’s cheeks remained flushed pink. Naively, Himeko hoped it would go unnoticed that she wasn’t wearing her usual type of clothing or how bare her face was – but those type of things would never slip past Luchia, not on a normal day and certainly not when it came to Himeko.
The girl gave her best friend another sheepish smile. “U-Uh, I came from Kaito-kun’s…” She said softly, wiggling a bit in her seat as she looked down at the chilled latte. Himeko had nothing to be ashamed about, really. She had gone to Kaito in a time of need and he comforted her – like a good boyfriend should. She just also happened to stay overnight.
“A-And about that! I told my dad I was going to your place last night, so…” Himeko had almost forgotten entirely about that and she knew it wouldn’t be good if her father found out she had lied and slept over at a boy’s house.
Luchia raised a hand as her friend trailed off and proceeded to lift herself from her seat. Once standing, she took her tea and the raspberry latte from the table and brought them to the counter. After handing the cold drinks to the barista to dispose of she took her card from her wallet and ordered a new set of drinks. Less than a minute later she returned to the table with the drinks. Luchia quietly sat herself back down at the table and slid the hot latte over to a very pink Himeko.
Taking a sip from her new, hotter, tea, Luchia set the drink down and folded her hands together and put them to her lips, “And why- pray tell- did you spend the night at Kaito’s despite telling your father otherwise?” She set her hands back down onto her cup, looked straight into Himeko’s eyes, and lowered her voice, almost hissing, “If he did anything to you I’ll have him killed.”

Spending the night at Kaito’s for the first time, though nerve-wracking for her ; had been relaxing. Sleeping beside him in bed, snuggled up in his arms – it was beyond easy for Himeko to oversleep and that was exactly what she did. With a surprised squeal and a good morning kiss to Kaito, Himeko shot out of the bed, throwing on the change of clothes she had brought with her which only constant of a pair of white jeans, a pink t-shirt and the hoodie she had worn the night before. She completely forgotten she was meeting Luchia for coffee at the cafe that morning, so she didn’t pack any of her makeup nor any of her jewelry. Grabbing her purse, Himeko was out the door, racing towards the cafe.
As soon as she got there, barging into the door – she gave Luchia a sheepish smile. “Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry Luchia-chan.” Himeko sat down across from her, putting her purse on the floor. “I-I was at Kaito-kun’s last night and then I overslept!” She exclaimed, tucking some ebony hair behind her ear, her cheeks flushed with a blush. “I forgot to set an alarm and of course he didn’t have one set for this early.”

8:47 a.m. An early hour to be out and about on a weekend according to the average student, but for Luchia at this moment in time, it was actually quite late. Having arrived at her current location at the local coffee shop 20 minutes prior, she began to worry about her company’s whereabouts. Himeko was not one to be late- or rather, she was definitely not a very punctual person, but she wouldn’t be this late without notice. Luchia sighed and took a sip of her now lukewarm milk tea, she was just about to pick up her phone and text her friend for answers when the door to the the very quiet cafe slammed open.
“Ah, there you are, I was just about to text you,” Luchia said as her friend sat down at the table. “You’re a tad too late though, your drink has gone cold,” she added, gesturing towards the raspberry latte she had ordered her friend upon her arrival.
“You’re going to have to order a new-” She cut herself off, “Wait a moment...” Luchia paused to evaluate Himeko’s current condition: hair disheveled, minimal makeup if any on her face, and a goddamned hoodie in the height of spring. “You came from where now?”

It was almost like all the worrying and uneasiness Himeko had melted away when Kaito put his arm around her and ran his fingers through her hair. She sighed softly, snuggling closer into him. Himeko was so content where she was at, that for a moment, she had nearly forgotten what happened–then she frowned at his comment. Himeko lightly shrugged her shoulders, “My dad is….the definition of selfish.” Himeko didn’t really like saying that about somebody, especially her father, but it was completely true–and she was able to see that more and more as she got older. “You care more then he does.” She said, her lips forming a soft, almost sad smile at him.
The sad feeling she had vanished again as Kaito kissed her forehead–her cheeks flushed pink as she watched him. “Oh. Okay,” The dark haired girl smiled at him, standing up from the bed and grabbing the pillow and blanker she had brought with her. Himeko glanced around the room for a second before her eyes came back to him–“Where at?” Her face was entirely serious–and her brown eyes completely innocent. She truly didn’t know where she was going to sleep. The only sleepovers Himeko had ever been to were at Luchia’s house.
Raising his eyebrows, Kaito blinked at the blank faced girl before him. "The bed, obviously," he stifled a laugh as he talked, "Where else?" He reached out to snatch the pillow and blanket from Himeko’s arms and threw them onto the bed next to him, having completely forgotten the fact that Himeko had never even dated another person, meaning she had never slept in a man’s bed either.
Ignorance may have been bliss, but Kaito could only assume that she’d be just fine sleeping in the same bed as him. After all, she was constantly latched to his arm during the day, so it should not be any different at night, right? “You didn’t think I was gonna make ya’ sleep on the floor did’ya?” Kaito chuckled, “I’m not that much of an ass.”
But in that moment he realized just how direct he had been. He opened his mouth, then paused; and his face suddenly went from a sly grin to a concerned stare. “That is, unless you’re not comfortable with all this-,” Kaito paused again, now furrowing his brow, “because we have plenty of guest rooms if you don’t wanna sleep here, I don’t wanna pressure you or anythin’.”
Though Kaito had been in a number of relationships, he had never truly dated someone as timid as Himeko, and thus had all of his “close-quarter” offers accepted on the spot. But Himeko was much different, she was much more shy and the idea of a thing like sleeping with someone of the opposite sex was obviously foreign to her. And though Kaito wanted nothing more than to hold her all night, her comfort mattered a lot more.
you make my dreams // himeko & kaito
At the sound of his girlfriends cracked voice, Kaito launched himself out of bed, phone pressed firmly to his ear as he threw on a pair of pants and some slippers and began to jog his way towards the garage. He did not even bother to put on a shirt, as it would only be a short drive to her house.
“I’m on my way,” The flustered boy stated in a blunt and to the point tone, “Make sure you’re outside waiting, I’ll be there in a minute.”
Though most of the house was fast asleep, the few security guards that were still working the night shift remained sitting by the security cameras. As Kaito held out a hand in signal for his keys, the group gave him a nod and within a moment tossed him the keys to his Jeep from a locked drawer. Quietly sliding past the front doors, Kaito ran out to the garage, unlocked his Jeep, and hurriedly yet efficiently backed out of his driveway and rushed off to Himeko’s apartment.
After only a few minutes of driving, he arrived at the apartment complex. He was able to easily distinguish his girlfriends figure from the rest of the building, and signaled for her to get in the car. Once the couple made it back to his place, Kaito brought the Jeep back into the garage and showed Himeko the way to his bedroom.
“You should’ve called me sooner if this has been going on for so long,” He commented, opening his door for her to step in, “I could’ve gotten you out of there faster.” Following her in, he closed the door behind them and took Himeko’s bag for her and placed it beside his bed before proceeding to take a seat on the edge of his mattress. He patted the spot next to him, inviting the shellshocked girl to sit beside him.
“Does this happen a lot- your dad losing his temper, that is?”
—♕ —
“I thought maybe they’d stop..” She said softly, stepping inside as he opened the door and took her bag. She honestly did think that–it was baffling to her how two people could fight for so long. Himeko didn’t want to call Kaito if it had been something that was going to pass soon, but the longer it went on, the more she felt like it was never going to end. The dark haired girl watched as he placed her bag beside the bed and sat down himself–motioning for her to sit beside him. This made her smile softly as she sat next to him; instantly laying her head on his shoulder.
Himeko sighed, “Not really..” She licked her lips as she gathered the words in her mind, “He’s a really mellow person–a bit too mellow, actually.” Himeko could remember fights between her parents that her mother started, yelling at her father that he didn’t care enough or didn’t try hard enough–as a kid, Himeko didn’t believe that to be true, but as she was getting older, she was beginning to wonder if her mother was right in her accusations. “I think that makes his girlfriend mad, and he gets mad cause she did, and then…” Himeko waved her hand around in a circle, “It just goes on and on.”
The girl pursed her lips together–for once, she wanted to get everything out; to actually vent what she kept bottled up tight. “I don’t think my dad pays enough attention to know how I hate loud noises, anyway.” Himeko wrapped her arms around one of Kaito’s and squeezed it gently, snuggling her face into his shoulder with another sigh. “He’s not around much and it’s never just him when he is, so it’s awkward and uncomfortable.”
The boy shook his head, wrapping an arm around Himeko to rest his hand on her head, “Well at least I was able to get you out of there before it got too crazy,” He ran his fingers through her black hair, trying his best to make her relax.
“Just the fact that I know more about you than your own father pisses me off, though,” Kaito admitted in a low tone, “He should be able to tell that those loud noises terrify you.”
Kaito had known that Himeko’s home life was not exactly the best, but after having to literally take her out of an emotionally taxing situation he had no sympathy for her parents whatsoever.“You should sleep,” He suggested, kissing her forehead before pushing himself backwards towards the back frame of the bed, “It’s late, and it’ll be a lot easier for you to fall asleep here.”

Himeko sighed as she once again turned over in her bed–it was impossible to sleep with so much shouting going on. She couldn’t quite remember the last time she had to attempt to sleep against the sound of arguing. All she knew was it had to be a few years at least. The dark haired girl squeezed close the red bear she cherished so much. How was she supposed to get any sleep like this? She thought about it for a moment–she could always call Luchia and as if she could come over. But she felt bad over the idea; it was late, after all.
Himeko pondered over it for a moment, giving the bear another squeeze before an idea came over her and she sat up in her bed. She could always call Kaito. He was her boyfriend; wasn’t she supposed to turn to him in need? Himeko wanted to. Which was brave for her, because she realized this meant spending the night at his house. At a boy’s house. Which was something she’d never done before–but how could she? She’d never even had a boyfriend before. The only house she spent the night at that didn’t belong to a relative was Luchia’s. Himeko bit down on her bottom lip. Was it too much to ask of him? She wasn’t sure, but the feeling she had over the idea was incredibly strong. Himeko wanted his comfort and she was practically craving the attention and the feeling of security that he gave her. The dark haired girl was snapped out of her thoughts by the shouting and she sighed deeply. She had to do it. She needed Kaito.
So Himeko got up out of bed, zipped up a baggy hoodie to add some modesty to her cami top and shorts; then quickly packed a gym bag with just a few things–a change of clothes, a throw blanket, the red bear, her purse and a pillow. Himeko, being the naive girl she was, didn’t expect to share a bed with Kaito. She was too modest in mind to think of it herself and far too shy natured to suggest it. She packed her bag with the mindset that her resting place in Kaito’s home would be on a couch or the floor. She peeked outside of her bedroom door–while she didn’t hear arguing in that moment; didn’t mean it was done for good.
Himeko sighed as she exited her room and walked into the living room, heading for the door with hopes that her dad was in the kitchen and his girlfriend in the living room–she wouldn’t call her out, but her dad would. And unfortunately, her hopes had been in vain. “Where are you going?” Himeko heard her father ask, and she turned around with a smile. “Luchia’s! She called, and, um, you know all that happened with her dad and what not, I’d hate to turn her away just because it’s la–” Himeko’s dad didn’t have any reason to argue against that, so he waved his hand at the girl; “Right, go on.” She nodded and quickly left the apartment–sighing deeply after she was in the hallway. Himeko hadn’t lied about where she was going before, but she couldn’t possibly tell her dad she was hoping she was heading to her boyfriend’s, now could she?
She shook her head as she walked out of the apartment building–her relationship with Kaito had surely changed things in her life; and was certainly starting to bring her out of the shell she had lived in for as long as she can remember. Himeko sat down on a bench near the building; it being June, the weather was nice. The spring air was refreshing, and she loved it.
The dark haired girl pulled out her phone and for a moment, hovered her finger over the call button before she pressed it and held the phone to her ear. It rang a few times before she heard a sleepy hello–had she woken him up? “K-Kaito-kun?” Himeko couldn’t help the stutter, “I’m sorry, it’s l-late I know, but..” She sighed, “C-Can I come over? I can’t sleep here t-there’s so much shouting a-and and…”
At the sound of his girlfriends cracked voice, Kaito launched himself out of bed, phone pressed firmly to his ear as he threw on a pair of pants and some slippers and began to jog his way towards the garage. He did not even bother to put on a shirt, as it would only be a short drive to her house.

Himeko hadn’t thought about like that; but knowing her, it would take a lot for her to consider something a bad date. She hadn’t actually thought about what a bad date would be to her. Himeko didn’t consider herself too difficult to please. She was moody, certainly, but surely not difficult. The dark haired girl smiled at him as she scooted her chair to sit herself just a bit closer to him, instead of across from him–and she promptly started to eat the cookies on her plate before the sandwich. Himeko didn’t believe in saving dessert for last. Why risk being too full before you get the chance to eat it?
“Are you? Enjoying it?” She knew Kaito wouldn’t have brought her to a place he wouldn’t like even a bit–but she was more wondering if he was enjoying it as much as she was. Or rather, if he was enjoying being with her. After she finished the cookies, she finally moved on to the sandwich, last. She took delicate bites of it as her innocent eyes watched Kaito.
Kaito shifted his shoulders into a small shrug, then began slowly taking the remainder of the strawberry that he had been taking bites of away from his mouth. “Well my food could be better,” he fibbed, placing the strawberry carefully back onto his half empty plate, furrowing his brow.
Of course, Kaito had no real complaints with the venue or the food. In all honesty he would not have minded if they had just gone out for coffee; any type of date where he was able to spend time with Himeko would have been perfect for him. Though he’d never say that outright.
So instead, he went to mess with his date, because why the hell not?
He quickly reached over to Himeko’s plate and snagged a strawberry, ripping off the stem and popping it into his mouth, “Though it tastes even better off of your plate,” he commented as he chewed with a grin. And only a moment later began grabbing a few blueberrys from her plate, “Man It’s so good I just can’t stop eatin’.”

As if the fact that she had almost ended up soaked in a pond on their first date wasn’t enough to get the little princess flustered, Himeko’s cheeks turned bright pink when he pulled her against his chest and ran a hand through her hair. “Alright…not my finest moment.” The dark haired girl replied with a giggle to his comment, and looked up at him with a sheepish smile. As he still had a tight grip on her–Himeko didn’t fight it. She had to admit that she quite liked the feeling of being that close to him.
In fact, she wouldn’t have minded staying like that for a little while–but then he let go of her and took her hand instead. “Something else?” She repeated curiously, eagerly following him as he started to walk away. Himeko had already thought the garden was beautiful, and everything they passed only proved her thoughts to be right. The tea house was absolutely adorable and gorgeous at the same time. How could she have not known a place like this existed near them? She wanted to come here all warm weather long. Himeko smiled at him and nodded her head, “Starving,” She then squeezed his hand and pulled him inside the cafe–which then she gave a happy squeal at the sight of all the food.
Naturally, loving to cook also included a love for food itself–Himeko would be content anywhere if she had good food around her. It was how she could usually be roped into attending some formal party of Luchia’s; other then playing the best friend card. Good food and even better sweets were one of her many weaknesses.
She let go of his hand to get herself a plate–which she promptly filled with a sandwich, a lot of fruit, and naturally; cookies. Then she placed the plate on a nearby table and got herself an iced coffee. Himeko looked at Kaito with a smile, “I gotta admit, Kaito-kun, so far this is the best date I’ve been on!” She added a giggle before bitting down on a strawberry–knowing full well Kaito was aware this was the only date she had ever been on.
After taking a minute to pile one of everything onto his plate, Kaito sat himself and his pile in the seat across from Himeko. The cafe was completely barren of costumers besides the two, their only company being the cooks who set up the brunch for them and a few employees that were tending to the plants around the greenhouse.
He wasted no time digging into his pile of lunch, consuming two whole sandwiches before switching over to a cove of fruit on his plate. Upon hearing Himeko’s comment, Kaito could not help but stifle a laugh, “Technically, it can be your best and worst, considering there’s nothing else to compare it to,” he responded between chews. To that day it continued to shock Kaito that Himeko had not had a single relationship before the two of them got together. Sure, she is incredibly shy and introvertive when you first meet her, but he had no idea how that alone could keep guys away. Maybe she just liked to play hard to get.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying it at least,” Kaito added.

It didn’t surprise Himeko that Kaito didn’t really have a favorite flower in mind–she didn’t expect him to, but just wondered what he’d say if she asked. Flowers were a simple pleasure in life that Himeko enjoyed quite a bit–they wern’t typically expensive, so she could almost always pick up a bouquet to put on the dining table or even in her room; she did that often in the winter, as the lack of greenery seemed to bring her mood down. “An orchid? Those are pretty.” Himeko said with a smile as she stood upright and linked one of her arms with Kaito’s, heading towards the red flowers next.
“I think my favorite are lilacs. Or sunflowers! Although I really like roses and irises too..” She mused and then laughed with a shake of her head, “I like too many,” Himeko lightly shrugged her shoulders as she squeezed Kaito’s arm. Before they got to the red flowers, they were passing one of the small ponds with koi fish in it–and Himeko, being the giant child she was, let her curiosity get the better of her. It wasn’t often she saw fish, obviously. Himeko had a pet fish once when she was younger, but it didn’t last long.
Himeko stepped closer to the pond–a little too close, because when she took that step; she slipped on a rock, and was falling straight for the pond.
“Shit-”
This had not been the first time Kaito had experienced such a slip up, leaving Himeko mid air for only a moment before he had grabbed her by the arm and sharply pulled her into his chest. Upon looking down to confirm that Himeko was not harmed in any way, Kaito let out a sigh of relief, “What a klutz,” he chuckled and ran a hand over her long dark hair.
Had he not been paying attention, who knew what would have happened to Himeko. Seeing how carefully crafted the stone and foliage around the pond was, Kaito knew it would have been a dent in both Himeko’s head and his wallet. But what really mattered was that she was safe, and with that relieving thought in his head, Kaito finally released her from his tight grip and instead took her hand.
“C’mon,” He smiled, beginning to walk away from the pond, “I’ve got something else to show you.”
Towards the back of the greenhouse, on its own little island surrounded by a small stream and moat sat a small, roofless tea house and cafe area sheilded from the sun by tall weeping willows that gave the dining area comfortable shade. Kaito had already pre-ordered a buffet picnic for the two of them, with options varying from fruit salads to grilled sandwiches, as well as dozens of different types of drinks.
The couple crossed the miniature bridge and stopped right before the entrance to the cafe where Kaito turned to his date and smiled, “Hungry?”

At first, she pouted when he deny her of any hints–but she couldn’t keep that pout long when he gave her a quick kiss before starting up the car and pulling away. She giggled and leaned back in the seat, “Alright, fine~” Himeko accepted the fact that it was going to remain a surprise until they got there–which she had to admit, was pretty exciting. She enjoyed the drive, playing with the radio nearly the entire time. Every once in awhile, she’d look over at Kaito to make sure he didn’t mind her choice in music–and he never really seemed to, so she’d just smile and continue flipping stations when she desired.
As they pulled into the parking lot, Himeko thought it was rather curious that they were the only car there–it was a Saturday afternoon, wasn’t it? That thought quickly left her mind though as Kaito opened the car door and helped her down from the jeep. She squeezed his hand as he practically pulled her towards the door.
When he opened the doors, and she saw inside, Himeko’s eyes widened and a soft gasp came from her. Her brown eyes scanned over their surroundings–it looked like a garden from a fairytale. The cherry tree in the center was the most beautiful part of it all. Himeko wasn’t sure she’d ever seen a tree so large; it’s size nearly dwarfed the one they always sat under at the park. “Kaito-kun, this is amazing!” She squealed while squeezing his hand, then adding–“It’s so gorgeous.”, with a dreamy sigh.
Himeko nearly jumped when asked if she wanted to walk around. “Of course!!” She grinned, and this time, it was her pulling him along as figured out where she wanted to go. Upon realizing the plants were color-coded, Himeko knew instantly, she had to find the pink flowers. Which, wasn’t very hard at all. The dark haired girl bent down to smell a pink rose, then looked up at Kaito with a smile; “Do you have a favorite flower, Kaito-kun?”
Kaito chuckled as she began to take over, succumbing to the tug of her hand as she led them around the greenhouse. It was not a surprise to him when she screeched to a stop right in front of a colony of pink flowers.
He shrugged at her question, “I never really thought about having a favorite,” he confessed, scanning the array of pink plants before him. Flowers were always something that Kaito considered too cheap and disposable to be important. Sure, they were beautiful, but a bouquet would only last so long sitting in a vase on a dining room table. He believed that gifts should be able to be cherished for a lifetime, or at least longer than a week.
The flowers among the colony were extremely diverse in shape and size, though one species did happen to catch his eye. “Though if I had to chose one, it would definitely be an orchid,” Kaito nodded at a group of pink orchids that were hidden in a small bundle by the far left of the pink plants.
Lotus flowers and orchids were quite common in the Souma household. Within the courtyard of their estate was a large garden that housed miniature ponds filled with lotus flowers and koi, along with dozens of orchids growing between rocks around the ponds and off of trees around the courtyard. Kaito had always been fond of the orchids, he had a few potted around his room, though that was on account of the maid’s decorating, not his own will.

Her eyes had been locked on her shoes when she heard his voice–and instantly looked up with a bright smile. “Thanks.” She said, giggling as she wasted barely any time latching herself onto Kaito’s arm. Now, it was no longer an action of impulse due to an excited outburst, but simply a desire to be close to Kaito. Clinging to his arm was a comfortable place for her. “Mhm! I’m ready!” The dark haired girl didn’t really know the plans Kaito had for them, and that only made her all the more excited. “Now will you tell me where we’re going?” Himeko asked, looking up at him with those wide doe eyes of hers.
During the week leading up to this day, it didn’t bother her that the location of the date was a surprise, but now that they were actually headed there–she was too excited to see what Kaito had planned for the two of them to be just a bit more patient. “At least a hint?” Himeko pestered as they got to the car. She was practically radiating happiness. “Not that I doubt I’ll love it, I know I will.” The girl added with a giggle, climbing inside the jeep and buckling her seatbelt.
“Nope, you won’t get anything outta me” He shook his head as he jumped into the drivers seat and leaned over to give Himeko a quick kiss before he started up the car, “You’ll just have to wait and see.”
The sanctuary was not too far out of the city, only a thirty minute drive. Kaito had let Himeko control the radio the entire way over to keep her busy while he focused on the road, which he was sure made her quite happy. With little traffic, it did not take long to reach their destination, and upon arrival, Kaito swiftly parked right in front of the entrance and hopped out of the car. Making his way around the jeep, he opened the passenger door for Himeko and helped her off the tall vehicle. “C’mon,” He grabbed her hand and without another word began to pull her towards the entrance’s double doors.
The inside of the sanctuary was completely covered in foliage. The walls fostered hundreds of different types of vines and flowers that crept between nooks and crannies in the glass, while bushes and shrubs of every kind lined the walls and clustered into color coded groups throughout the greenhouse. Various pools and water fountains were also spread along the area, acting as the homes for different fish and koi, along with underwater plants. But the most noticeable aspect of the sanctuary was the 100 year old cherry tree that sat dead in the center of the greenhouse. It was absolutely breathtaking.
“Want to walk around?” Kaito grinned at Himeko.

She had already showered, dried and curled her hair, and now all that was left is to get dressed and wait for him to pick her up. But what exactly did one wear on a first date? Kaito had seen her in all kinds of outfits; including casual wear she would have rather he did’t see. A first date hadn’t even really been on her mind, truthfully–she and Kaito had been casually hanging out, she didn’t know if a first date was still a thing to do after you’d already spent so much time together. Kaito suggested it, though, and there was no way Himeko wouldn’t agree. She was quite excited for the date; if only she could decide what to wear.
Should she wear a dress? Or a blouse and a skirt? That only barely narrowed it down. She sifted through the closet, and when she came across a white skater dress, she paused. She could pair it with gold gladiator sandals and jewelry–so Himeko decided that would do. Quickly, She got dressed and grabbed her purse. It was the weekend she stayed at her mother’s, and due to the fact that her mother was working a shift, the dark haired girl didn’t see any reason to wait inside the apartment.
So Himeko locked the apartment door behind her, and stood leaning on it–waiting for Kaito with her hands clasped behind her back; the unconscious sign of her nervousness.
He had been awake since five o’clock that morning, quite the feat for the notoriously lazy teenage boy. From the moment he threw himself out of bed he began to set up for the rest of the day. That day would mark the first official date between Himeko and himself; a date he had been planning for the past week. Kaito did not enjoy cliche’s, he felt that they were tacky and gave the date little to no originality. This, of course, immediately brushed off the chance of taking Himeko to a fancy restaurant or movie. Instead, he planned to mess with the generic date formula a bit. Kaito knew too well of Himeko’s uneasiness when it came to prestigious and wealthy atmospheres, thus he planned to stray away from anything too visually expensive; however, this would not stop him from using his wealth to his advantage.
In the end, Kaito decided on a quiet venue outside of the city- an independent flower sanctuary and greenhouse. After paying a decent sum of money, he was able to completely rent it out, along with the high class cafe within, a perfect spot to enjoy some alone time and a quality meal. Afterwards, Kaito planned on bringing Himeko out on the town shopping if she so pleased. Though he realized how difficult it could be to get her to pick out things to buy considering he’d be paying for it- and he knew how she didn’t enjoy his spending money on her.
At noon, after confirming and finalizing his plans with the sanctuary, he dressed himself in a pair of muted red khaki shorts and a black leather belt, a white button down with a bleached denim jacket, a pair of maroon boat shoes, and aviators. Once dressed, he made his way out to the garage, revved up the jeep, and began to make his way to Himeko’s apartment.
Parking immediately out front, Kaito quickly jumped out of his car, stuffed his hands in his pockets, and ascended the stairs towards Himeko’s apartment. He had visited his girlfriend a multitude of times beforehand, so he knew exactly where her door was. But this time, his memory needn’t be in it’s best shape, for a girl dressed in white had been leaning against the same door he sought after.
“Sup, Princess?” Kaito grinned upon approaching the girl by the door, “Lovin’ the dress, ready to go?”

“Well I can’t let you starve.” She said with a giggle as she put her empty lunch box back into her bag, then reached over and did the same with his. There was still a few minutes left in lunch before class–so after she put them away, Himeko glanced over at him, then suddenly scooted close and latched herself onto his arm. Clingy didn’t even really begin describing Himeko. “Hey, Kaito-kun..” She started softly, giving his arm a light squeeze, “Are you going to the dance on Saturday?”
Tilting his head to the side, he squinted down at the miniature girl that hung tight around his arm, “There’s a dance on Saturday?”
Kaito was not exactly in tune with the school’s schedule considering his many absences. He had never heard of such a dance.
