“AAAAARGH!” Mika roared as she practically threw herself into the confessional with all the force you’d expect from an angst ridden teenager. Her expression was almost grotesque as the rebellious girl dragged her hands down her face, tugging at her eyelids. “I have to prove to Mal that I’m righ’ abou’ Alice. I jus’ – argh – I just ‘ave to! I’m so sick of just whinin’ on about tha’ she-devil withou’ ‘aving any means of gettin’ rid of her! Mallory needs to know the truth! ARIZONA NEEDS TO KNOW THE TRUTH!” She pounded the wall of the confessional in frustration, threatening to punch a hole straight through it.
Pausing to massage her temples and cool down, Mika fell against the back wall. “I’m jus’… I don’ want Mal to get sick of me, ya know? Me harkin’ on abou’ Alice 24/7 can’t be fun to hear. But she’s bad news, I tell ya. Actually, I’m bad news. An’ I manage ta be so while bein’ reason'bly morally ambiguous. She’s pure evil.” She sucked in a deep breath before continuing with her little rant.
“I know I can prove ta Mal that I’m righ’ today. I can feel it,” she illustrated her point by gripping at a lump in her cargo shorts. “In my McNuggies.”
Presumably content with her outburst and the resulting cooldown, Mika heaved herself off the seat, fished the 10 pack of chicken nuggets from her pocket, and ended her confessional on the high note only overly-processed food can provide.
As you know, we’re working on starting up a TDT magazine! The first edition really should’ve been out by now, but there’s one problem… you guys aren’t submitting anything to go into it!!!
Sooo, here’s a little incentive to make you get a few submissions in!
By now, it’s probably certain that you’ve heard news about our attempts to produce a TDT online newspaper. With one interview down, we’re well on our way to producing the first issue!
However, this magazine might easily be changed from biweekly to triweeky or even monthly. Why, you ask? The brief answer is: we need more content!! Interviews are great, but without pictures, stories, or more, we won’t be able to get this thing off the ground!
We’re especially looking for cover artists and column writers. Covers can be drawn in any style you want, it doesn’t have to be TDT! So long as you can draw at least a character bust shot (and preferably digitalize it), you can do covers for the magazine!! If you’re interested in this, shoot us an ask and we can let you know people who are on the interview list so you can choose a character to draw!! Covers are the most important part of a magazine, and they’re a good way to get your art seen!!
Next up on the wanted list are columns!! As said before, columns can be about anything you want, so long as they pertain to the TDT world. This includes the fandom as well as the competition itself!! If you need help picking out a column topic, just shoot mail to this blog and we’ll be more than willing to help you brainstorm! You can also choose to write your column under a pen-name, to be even more mysterious!!
Thank you all so much for your patience in the season, and for your awesome participation!! Hopefully we’ll be able to get the magazine started soon, and it’ll be a great addition to the rest of our content!!!
As you can see, it is very empty right now. You can remedy this, however, by sending in your own column you’d like to run for the magazine!! (Confused? See this post!)
Thank you all for your contributions thus far! We look forward to having this magazine be a big success!!
As you already heard (hopefully), we’re starting up a new TDT tradition, the biweekly magazine!! We’re currently looking for a few more people to do interviews at some point, but what we really need now are some people to provide other kinds of content.
What we’re looking for in particular here are covers (if you have any art talent, you can do a cover!) and columns!!
If you want to draw a picture for a cover, hit up our ask box and we’ll let you know who’s being interviewed. You’ll only need to draw one character belonging to the interviewee for your cover, and it can be as simple as a colored headshot.
Columns, however, are much more interesting! Remember all those columns in the magazines you used to read like ‘Dear Abby’? Well, we’re looking for people to do things like that for our magazine! Columns can be anything from 'Character Reviews’ to 'Episode Breakdowns’ and even things like 'Cooking TDT inspired foods’! So long as you can write a short thing for it every two weeks, you’ve got a column!! We’ll be posting a list of people who are signed up to do columns and what they are, so we don’t get 2 people doing something like an advice column, and it would be great if you have an idea you’d like to pitch in!
We’re always looking for other media types like stories as well, so submit your stuff today and be a part of the first ever TDT magazine!!
"It's only morning and I'm already confused. And tired. And hungry. Did I even eat breakfast this morning? No wait....I think I had coffee. With enough sugar and cream to make it into a solid. Yeah... I definitely had breakfast." Benny paused for a moment, trying to remember what he was actually supposed to be talking about in the confessional.
"Oh yeah! Uh, team meeting? Since when did we ever have those? I don't think the other teams do that," he shrugged, "and I guess Derby's the leader for today's challenge? He had a lot of confidence this morning, but I dunno how to feel about it, I guess I'll have to give it a chance. And did you see how tense The Baroness was this morning? Better tread carefully around her today..." Another pause, then he spoke up again.
"Today's challenge....purple-- er, indigo. That's such a gross color. I mean-- if you associate it with grape flavored medicine and stuff. Indigo's not even part of most rainbow songs. And running...oh boy. We don't have a lot of athletic people on our team, do we? Selene could probably--" He chuckled as he began to talk about the challenge, but his mood immediately came crashing down at the thought of his former teammate. Benny silently glanced down at the confessional floor for a moment. "So... yeah. Indigo and running. I wonder what'll happen. I hope I don't screw things up. The coffee I had will probably help." One more pause.
"I don't even like coffee that much, what the heck."
"Can't believe the lad threw me under the boat like that..." The Baroness spoke with a pout, looking away from the camera as she crossed her arms. Her eyebrows arched in annoyance as she continued her -- in her eyes -- justified rage. "I be thinkin' he ain't a bad bucko, but, the fact he be callin' me of all people a blaggard be..."
Her gaze drifted towards the camera, a noticeable scowl on her face. "... It be like a stab to tha' back, y'know me mateys?" With a momentary pause, she adverted her attention from the camera once again, a pout still present on her face.
"... He must be havin' scurvy or somethin'; 'cause his brain be addled if he be thinkin' I'm the problem here."
Actually, did Ry say he was going to lead the way to the factory? What he meant was that he was going to bolt as soon as he walked out of the hotel door, finding an alternate route he could possibly run alone in. He didn't mean to ditch Gaile, but there was no way he'd be able to walk with Kiki right now; Gaile had thrown it out there he'd wanted to be the leader, and without thinking he blurted it out himself. If he fucked up, then his entire team's eyes would be spelling out "R-Y" on the elimination sheets--or "R-E-E" in Lavender's case.
Huffing loudly, he vaulted over the first fence he met up with, tearing over it like it was foil. As soon as his feet hit the ground, he shot off and raced along the back of the buildings in confidence.
"Who...thought...we'd be going...to that damn factory...today..." He panted out softly. Sharply turning a corner, he thought he'd finally found his path away from everyone when he suddenly ran smack dab into someone and went flying back, only being saved when that person grabbed at his wrist. Though, whether they stopped him from falling or ended their stay in Erectville was really up to their upper body strength.
Total Drama Colors Episode 6, Part 1: Indigot To Go Fast
Episode under the cut for length.
The show opened on a scene in Derby’s bedroom in the hotel. His sheets were a disheveled mess and it almost appeared as if he was still sleeping. As the camera panned away from the bed, however, the audience could see that Derby was already up and wide awake, dressed and ready for the day to start. He seemed to have a new air of confidence to him, standing tall and proud with a “look out world!” gleam in his eyes. He was also fidgeting slightly as he always was; just about bouncing with energy. It wasn’t clear yet, but something had him revving to go, and high on life itself.
“Today’s the day!” Derby exclaimed to his reflection in the hotel’s full body mirror. “Today’s the day I speak up! Look out Penguins, you’re about to have a new leader! No more opinions shall go uncared for! No more teammates shall be left out!” he cheered in a bold voice. It was one of those moments where the editors could have added a patriotic song and the American flag waving in the background, but this was a Canadian show. Sneaking one more glance of himself in the mirror he turned on his heel with a bounce and triumphantly marched out the door. His smile was from ear to ear and never budged as he continued to march down the hall. He was so caught up in himself that he didn’t even see the raised bubble in the rug. He only noticed it after he went sailing to the ground, landing with a dull slam on the carpet. That brought him back to Earth, and reminded him that he wasn’t invincible. Collecting himself once more, Derby stood back up and pushed his glasses to the bridge of his nose. He quickly brushed himself off and continued to march down the hall to the elevator. As he waited for the doors to open he hummed a happy tune and tapped his foot to the beat. The doors then opened with a ding and he stepped inside.
“Good morning, Derby!” Bailey greeted the jazzed up boy from inside the elevator.
“Morning, Bailey!” Derby replied with a smile.
Bailey yawned and turned to speak to him again. “It’s pretty early, Derby. Why are you up already?”
Derby rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet. “I just felt like getting a head start on the day! You know what they say, ‘the early bird gets the worm’!”
“That they do! I’m up for the same reason. I figured I’d get breakfast early so I can have a few minutes of peace before everyone else comes down,” Bailey said with a chuckle.
“You can say that again! There’s just too much happening with all of these people, it’s absurd.”
“Agreed.”
There was a few moments of silence. The pair shuffled awkwardly.
“Um, Derby?”
“Yes?”
“You haven’t pushed the button for the lobby yet.”
“Oh.”
There was a flash of light as the scene changed to Ry emerging from his room. He yawned loudly and stretched his arms as he trudged down the hallway to the elevator. With a deep frown on his face, and his hands shoved so deep into his pockets that it could wear holes in them, it was clear he was in a bad mood. And a sad mood. A lot of different thoughts clouded his head in response to the last challenge.
And he had a fair reason to be in a bad and sad mood about the last challenge. It was the Pandas’ fifth non-win in a row, an unfaltering losing streak stretching from the beginning of the season. That fact stewed about in Ry’s head as he tried to remain composed. It was too early for him to be so angry and upset. On top of the fact that his team lost yet again, his team also seemed to be heading downhill fast. There was no true leadership in his team. Just a wannabe, a self-absorbed bitch, and a prankster with no concept of timing. He could easily step up and take the role, he just knew he could. But with the way things were going, there was no way that Kiki would allow it to be taken from her. No, that would probably result in his face being scraped off of the sidewalk. But besides the fact that Kiki, who even though she was very tiny could possibly kill him, there was also no way that any of his teammates, except maybe Dennis, would actually listen to him. It was looking pretty hopeless for the Pandas. As the doors to the elevator opened, a voice cheerfully called out his name and made him cringe from its sugary sweetness.
“Morning, Ry!”
“Hello,” he replied and entered the elevator car.
“Headed to the lobby?” Gaile asked.
“Yeah,” Ry said flatly.
There was a few moments of awkward silence as Gaile tried to read Ry’s mood from his body language. But it only took a look at his face to see that he was feeling down.
“Something got you feelin’ down in the dumps?” Gaile asked.
“No. This is just my face,” Ry retorted.
“No. I know your face, and this is you being upset,” Gaile insisted.
“Fine! Maybe it is. What’s it to you?” Ry crossed his arms in exasperation.
“Well, I thought we were friends, and I don’t like seeing my friends so upset.”
The word friends, as always, made Ry hesitate a moment.
“I know I haven’t been acting like the best friend lately, but I’ve had some stuff happening too. I just want you to know that I truly do care about you.” Gaile finished.
Ry’s face remained stone solid. Then, taking in a breath, he finally relaxed and opened up. “I just want our team to win one f***** time,” he whispered, clenching his fists.
“What’s keeping you guys from doing that?” Gaile asked, a personal victory going off in her head for getting him to open up.
“We have no true leader. We have Kiki. But she just isn’t being the best leader. I just... I just feel like I could do a much better job,” Ry explained.
“Well then why don’t you just go for it? It’s like my Aunt always tells me, if you want to get something done, don’t flap your gums, flap your arms!”.
At that moment, the doors opened and the two exited the elevator.
“Wanna sit with me today?” Gaile asked, gesturing to the breakfast area.
“Sure.” It wasn’t like it could hurt.
The four contestants had the dining room to themselves for about 30 more minutes before the rest of the competitors woke up and began pouring in. Alice and Arizona were next to arrive to the scene. Arizona still was still under Alice’s spell and was enthralled while listening to Alice tell a story. She laughed at every joke, gasped at every turn, and threw in a “No way!” “Oh my gosh” and “Wow!” every now and then. Alice was milking it all up. Nothing thrilled her more than to see this poor girl falling for her deceit, hook, line, and sinker.
“And after the show, we had the after party and, boy, was it crazy!” Alice exclaimed as she recounted one of her performances back home.
“That sounds like it was fun!” Arizona chirped.
“Oh it was, the hostess was sooo cool and….” Alice explained but Arizona tripped over a chair mid-sentence. She’d been so busy trying to visualize the story that she’d forgotten to pay close attention to where she actually was.
“Ouch. Okay, that didn’t feel good.” Arizona collected herself from the ground.
“Weren’t you using your walking stick?” Alice asked.
Arizona paused for a moment before answering. “No. You were guiding me, so I put my trust in you. What on earth did I trip over?”
“A chair,” Alice said.
“Who left a chair in the middle of the walkway?!” Arizona cried in shock at someone’s inconsiderateness.
“Oh, nobody left it there, you just walked into one that was at a table.” Alice explained like it was no big deal that Arizona had fallen.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” Arizona asked with a cock of her eyebrow.
“Zona, you may be blind, but you aren’t helpless.”
“Yes, but a simple ‘Arizona watch out for that chair,’ would have been nice.” Arizona retorted.
“Arizona, it’s okay, but you’re gonna have to learn how to take care of yourself sometime. If you can’t, then I’ve got news for you. It’s a mean tough world out there! And not everyone is as nice and selfless as me,” Alice said as she reached down to help pull Arizona up.
“But I can take care of myself. I’ve been doing it for years.” Arizona swatted away Alice’s hand.
“Then show me. Be a big girl.” Alice said in a too-sugary-sweet voice.
“I will.” Arizona said, pushing herself to her feet cautiously. ‘Now, let’s go get some breakfast. I’m starving.”
And with that she whipped out her white stick to help her the rest of the way. It was clear that Alice was no longer guiding her.
Next to arrive in the dining hall was the Baroness. She immediately spotted her teammates Bailey and Derby sitting together at a table. Great. At least she had a place to sit on this miserable day. Trudging over to the cereal bar, she poured herself a bowl and grabbed an orange from the fruit bowl. She had begun to peel it before she even made it to the table to sit. And she was peeling it forcefully.
“I’m sure glad I’m not that orange,” a voice said from close by. The Baroness looked up to investigate. The speaker, who was none other than Benny, was standing behind her and busy pouring way too much sugar and cream into his coffee.
“Aye, good mornin’ to ya lad. I hope ye slept better than I,” The Baroness said in the most friendly voice she could muster. It was hard since she was feeling so blue.
“Meh, I slept okay. As okay as I possibly can. What kept you up last night?” Benny replied.
“I’ve just been a mite upset is all. I feel like I really let the crew down last challenge. T’was my fault we lost as much as it was ole’ Selene’s. I kinda miss the bucko,” The Baroness said as she finished approaching the table with Bailey and Derby. She stopped a few steps along her way to signal Benny to follow. He followed suit.
“I miss her too. As much as she drove me crazy, I really did like her. She was a good and loyal friend.” Benny nodded and stirred his coffee with a coffee stirrer.
“This world needs more lubbers like her. Loyal to the end. Even before she walked the plank, she still called fer you.”
“Yeah. And I couldn’t even look at her until she was almost gone.” Benny sighed mournfully.
“Avast, belay that kinda talk! Twas a hard thing to do. Me thinks ye pretty strong for doing it at all.”
“Really? Well… thanks,” Benny said with a slight smile.
“Aye lad. Now let us move smartly to our table so we can eat. We need the energy.”
Spotting their approach, Bailey waved at the pair. “Over here, guys!”
“We’re coming!” Benny called back. He picked up his pace, and the Baroness followed.
“Oh, good, now that you two are here, we can have our team meeting!” Derby said as the two sat down.
“Team meeting? Is that really necessary?” Benny asked.
“Yes. Yes it is.” Derby nodded curtly.
“Aye, Ben, let us listen to what the lad has to say,” The Baroness chimed in.
Derby folded his hands in front of himself on the table and straightened his back. “Alright team, I hope you’re ready to work really hard for today’s challenge.”
“Yeah!” Bailey cried with a fist pump.
“Now, I have no idea what the challenge is supposed to be, or even today’s color theme, but we still need to be prepared,” Derby continued.
“Agreed!” Bailey chirped.
“Aye,” The Baroness nodded.
Benny had slowly started to doze off, but nodded his head to show that he agreed. He quickly took a swig of his coffee to caffeinate himself.
Now he was getting to the more subjective bit of the speech. Derby shifted slightly in his seat. “As I’m sure we all know, last challenge, not everyone’s thoughts were heard.”
The Baroness raised an eyebrow. She was pretty sure that she knew where this was going. And it was only going to make her feel worse.
“In fact, it was because of a technicality that we lost, because not everyone was heard during the challenge,” Derby went on, voice growing slightly in confidence.
The Baroness tore the skin off her orange and viciously bit into a slice, sending juice squirting all over herself. Luckily for her, Derby was still intently giving his speech and didn’t notice. However, Bailey did.
“So this time around, we’re going to make sure everyone is heard. I’m going to be the leader this time!” Derby cried and puffed out his bony chest.
“Leader? Did we actually have a leader before?” Benny asked in confusion. Had he missed that bit of information while he was sleeping through the first few challenges?
“Kinda. If I could be so bold, I’d say that the Baroness was our leader,” Derby said.
The Baroness shoved a spoonful of cereal into her mouth so she wouldn’t spew profanities all over the place. Was he trying to say that the team’s loss was her fault alone?
“She may have lead us in that challenge, but it wasn’t her fault we lost!” Bailey interjected. “Selene was the one who ate our lemon squares. We were really lucky that I made extra!”
“Oh, I never said that it was her fault! I’m just saying that not everyone’s input was heard and verified as valid,” Derby stated and pushed his glasses back up his nose.
The Baroness took a bite of cereal, then another, then another, eating extremely rapidly. It was probably better her mouth be completely full of food at the moment.
“All that I’m saying is that this time if anyone has something to suggest or say, they should be able to say it.” Derby concluded with an air of finality.
“Fair enough,” Bailey said.
“Agreed,” Benny smiled.
The Baroness still had cheeks bulging with cereal, so she just nodded.
After about fifteen more minutes, the dining hall was full of people. The camera focused in on Lavender, who had just arrived and was searching for her team to sit with. To her dismay, her team was scattered around the dining hall or not even there at all. She spotted Dennis sitting at the table with Ry and Gaile, but no way was she going to sit with him. She had just washed her hair. But since Kiki was nowhere to be found, she’d have to sit by herself.
She started to pull out a chair from an empty table when she heard someone calling her name from nearby. She cringed when she recognized the voice.
“Lav! Over here, Lav!” Dennis called and waved his arms.
“No thank you. I’m quite happy over here. Alone.” Lavender yelled back with a hand on her hip.
“Awww c’mon, Lav! I know you don’t wanna actually sit there alone! Come sit with me, Ry-Ry, and the Nostalgiette!” Dennis coaxed with his signature wide, crooked grin plastered on his face.
Ry didn’t seem to care whether or not she joined them, but Gaile shot her a friendly smile and patted a seat next to her. Ry was on the other side of Gaile, and Dennis was on the other side of Ry, so it would be hard for him to reach Lavender.
“You don’t have to come. But if you want to, I’ve got your back. I’ll gladly take any food flung your way!” Gaile hollered with another friendly smile. She picked up her napkin and laid it over her clothes like a bib, just in case.
“Well, okay. But no funny business, Dennis!” Lavender warned as she joined the group at the table.
Dennis responded with another crooked smile and a chorus of laughter.
“Dennis, behave yourself,” Gaile said sternly.
“Yeah, Dennis. Behave yourself!” Ry mocked, in a slightly better mood now that he had some food in his system.
“I’m behavin’!” Dennis cried in an offended tone. He took a giant bite of a waffle and chewed it with a scowl on his face.
As everyone ate their breakfasts, there was a slight silence among the group. Other conversations in the dining hall buzzed faintly in the background.
“So Dennis, Lavender. Ry told me something interesting today.” Gaile finally spoke first.
Both teens cocked their heads to the side in curiosity.
“Oh yeah?” Dennis asked with a mouth full of chewed up waffle. Lavender cringed.
“Yeah! He told me he’s going to try to be your new team leader!” she finished.
“Really?” Lavender was slightly shocked.
“Yeah,” Ry confirmed with a curt nod.
“But don’t we already got one of those? I thought Kiki was our team leader!” Dennis asked again with his mouth full.
“Oh for Lord’s sake… JUST SWALLOW!” Lavender shrieked in disgust.
“That’s what she said,” Dennis said with a sly gleam in his eye, and a knowing smile. He swallowed his bite if only so he could grin wider.
“Oh my god,” Lavender moaned and hid her face in her hands.
Ry was slightly relieved that the topic got diverted because it was brought up very awkwardly, but on the other hand, was this how he was going to be treated if he tried to be the team leader?
“Guys! Seriously? We were mid-conversation!” Gaile exclaimed.
“Oh, sorry! But yeah, if he wants to try to replace Miss Big n’ Bad, I says go for it!” Dennis waved a fork stabbed through with at least 3 layers of sticky waffle in the air. The waffle, as expected, went flying off his fork and sailed directly into Gaile’s napkin-clad chest.
Gaile smiled with some slight dismay. Lavender scooted away from her slightly.
Jillian was just finishing getting dressed, simultaneously reading a guide on surviving in the rainforest, when she heard a knock on her door. She quickly slipped on her shoes and rushed over, wondering who could possibly be wanting her. If it was Chris, he probably had something nasty planned. She opened the door cautiously and peeked through it.
Ashley was standing outside, scuffing her foot against the carpet. She met Jillian’s eyes and quickly blinked away, looking at the floor. Jillian realized she was still holding the book and quickly put it down, her cheeks a little red. She didn’t want Ashley to think that she was really lame, like some other people did.
“Hey, Jillian,” Ashley said after a moment. “I was wondering… if you’d like to have breakfast with me.” She looked back up.
Jillian, though she was still a little nervous around Ashley, was happy to feel included and nodded. Ashley nodded back, and the two headed down.
When they entered the dining room, Jillian noticed Ashley draw herself up a little taller. Her eyes were no longer focused on the ground and instead scanned the tables in the crowded dining room. Jillian looked as well, and spotted Gaile sitting at a table with most of the members of the yellow team.
“How about we sit-”
“There.” Ashley pointed to a table in the far left corner. It was totally empty.
“Um…” Jill did want to sit with Gaile, but not enough to put up a fight about it, especially since Ashley had been the one to initiate them sitting together. “Okay.”
Taking seats at the table awkwardly, Jillian suddenly realized that they’d forgotten to actually get food. “Ashley, I’m, uhh, going to get breakfast. Do you want anything?”
Ashley hesitated for a moment, before shaking her head. “No, I don’t want anything.”
Slowly, Jillian exited, Ashley’s response having not been very reassuring.
When the door to the dining hall opened again, Kiki entered, rubbing her eyes and yawning. She hadn’t slept well the night before and was in desperate need of some nourishment to pump up her energy. She had a hankering for sausage and eggs. Luckily for her, there was a platter of exactly that on the table of food. Today was off to a pretty good start. Now all she had to do was find a place to sit. As she carefully scanned the room for a spot, she noticed her team was already sitting together, but Gaile from the Parrots was also joining them this morning.
Lavender was first to spot the girl. “Kiki! Over here! You can sit by me!” she called and waved. Even though she was a little afraid of Kiki, another person between her and Dennis wasn’t too shabby of an idea.
Kiki quickly scanned the room again to see if there was anywhere else to sit, but found there was none. Shrugging, she trudged over to their table and sat down.
“Thanks,” Kiki mumbled and stuck a forkful of sausage in her mouth.
“No problem!” Lavender replied cheerfully. She was feeling a lot better now that Kiki was here, even though the other girl seemed kind of grouchy. Maybe Dennis would behave.
“So, how are you today, Kiki?” Gaile asked with a friendly smile.
“I’m aight, I guess. I just haven’t been sleeping very well lately.”
“Not sleeping? Join the club! I don’t think anyone has slept soundly since we got to this lord forsaken show,” Ry replied.
The other competitors at the table nodded in agreeance, even Dennis.
“I’ve been thinking about the upcoming challenges,” Ry started again.
“Really? Me too. I’m tired of challenges. Nothin’ we try ever seems ta work,” Kiki added, picking at her food.
“Exactly. Which is why I was going to suggest letting me try to think up some ideas for the next challenge.” Ry said.
“You?” Kiki asked skeptically, before changing her tactics. “I mean, do ya think ya can handle it? It’s tough out there when ya get in the moment,” Kiki explained and put another forkful of food in her mouth.
“Of course I can handle it!” Ry cried, sounding slightly insulted.
“Then by all means, go for it. As long as it gets us the win,” Kiki said with her mouth full.
“Alright!! Ry-Ry gets a chance! Don’t let us down buddy,” Dennis taunted with his wide grin plastered on his face.
“Yeah, please don’t,” Kiki said under her breath where no one else could hear
“Ya can’t tell me ya didn’t see that!” Mika whispered harshly, jabbing Mallory in the side with her elbow. The former motioned to Alice and Arizona. “Alice led her directly into that chair. I’m telling you, Alice is a capital-B B****!” Mallory sighed, shaking her head.
“I don’t know what’s got you thinking Alice is some sort of... siren-”
“She’s not trying to lure us for sex, she-” Mika interrupted the taller girl, who had no problem butting right back in.
“Sirens,” Mallory contended, “lure to death, not for sex. That’s a succubus.” Mika simply stared at Mallory, confused by how she had this information on the top of her head. “I dabble in mythology,” Mallory answered Mika’s silent question, before continuing on. “Anyway, all you talk about is Alice this, Alice that. I’m sick of it.” Mallory crossed her arms and Mika huffed.
“Oh come on, I only talk about ‘er so much because ya don’t believe me! Please, Mallory, just look at ‘er. Watch and you’ll see, she’s just going to tear us apart!” Mika begged, which was unusual for her, but she was desperate to get someone else on board with her. She knew she wasn’t the most lawfully good person, but she was good enough to see that Alice was up to no good; the fact that no one else seemed to see that frustrated her to no end.
“If,” Mallory began after a silent contemplation, “you can prove to me that Alice is bad in the next few days, I’ll work with you to get her eliminated.” Mika’s face lit up, but Mallory continued before the orange-haired girl could say anything, “but if you can’t, you have to stop talking about it. Got it?”
Well, no worries about that, because Mika was sure that she could convince her today, since Alice was obviously evil. “Deal.” To cement this, Mike spat in her hand and extended it to Mallory, who looked a little confused before nodding and spitting in her own hand.
“Deal.”
Now armed with a plate full of fruit and pancakes, Jillian headed back to the table, where Ashley was waiting. She looked lost in thought, gazing out at the table where Gaile and the yellow team were sitting. Of course, gazing might not be the right word… it was more of an angry, tortured glare. Jillian slowed in her approach.
“Hi, Ashley,” she said gently as she sat down. “If you’re hungry, there’s plenty of food left. Or you could eat something I got, there’s some fruit...”
“No.” Ashley shook her head, pulling her attention away from the other table. “I’m fine.”
“Okay... if you’re sure.” Maybe Ashley just wasn’t hungry. Jillian cut off a tiny piece of her pancake, but it felt somewhat uncomfortable to be the only one at the table eating.
“Thank you for walking with me yesterday,” Ashley started off a conversation.
“Yeah, of course. I mean, that’s what friends are for, right?”
“Hmm…” Ashley trailed off and Jillian, as always, was worried she’d said the wrong thing. Then she looked up at her. “You’d say we’re friends?”
Ashley’s statement pulled Jillian from her self-decrepitating thoughts. “I mean, sure. Yeah. Why not?”
“I just don’t think I’m friend-material,” Ashley mused, her gaze slowly drifting back over to the yellow and Gaile table. “Not like other people.
“Oh no, that’s not true,” Jillian quickly consoled her.
Ashley shrugged. “And I was rude to you during the challenge.”
“No, no, you were just stressed.” This was a little overwhelming. Jillian hadn’t anticipated having to deal with an existential crisis.
“I don’t know, sometimes I just…” Ashley abruptly trailed off, and Jillian looked at her questioningly. She turned around to see that Dakota had just stepped through the dining room doors, yawning slightly. Scanning the room, he caught sight of their table and waved, heading over. Jillian looked back to Ashley, who had slunk down in her seat.
“Ashley, are you oka-?”
“I can’t talk to him.”
“Why not?” Dakota was getting closer, and this was getting a little strange.
“Just… you talk to him, okay?” Ashley turned away from the table slightly to avoid Dakota’s approach. It had seemed like they’d worked okay together in the last challenge, but maybe she just hadn’t noticed something.
“I… sure,” Jillian conceded, because Dakota was almost at the table. She smiled as he sat down. “Morning, Dakota.”
“Hey, Jillian! Ashley,” Dakota said more gently, because Ashley was still turned slightly away. She nodded but didn’t reply.
Now things were even more awkward than before. “How did you sleep?” Jillian asked.
“It was alright. I forgot to set my alarm, though. Did I miss anything?”
“No. We’ve just been having breakfast. Chris hasn’t come down yet.”
Ashley abruptly stood up. “I think I might get some breakfast after all.” She walked off quickly, faster than Jillian or Dakota could react.
“Do you know why she’s mad at me?” Dakota whispered, looking at Ashley with great concern.
“I don’t.” Jillian shrugged, shaking her head. Something was definitely going on here, and she didn’t know what.
Chris chose this moment to burst into the room. “Morning, contestants! Hopefully you’ve all had breakfast, and you’ve stocked up on the calories!” While the contestants started trying to figure out how many calories their meals had actually contained, Chris pulled out his remote and whirled through the colors.
Breakfast was also happening in the eliminated contestant hotel. When their shirts started changing, most of them just continued eating, used to it by now, but Selene jumped, surprised, and tried to bite at it. No one moved to help her.
Chris finally settled on a purple color. The contestants waited for him to explain it as usual.
“As you can probably tell, today’s color is indigo!” Chris said. There was a general murmur of confusion, similar to the salmon challenge. The shirts, upon closer inspection, were distinctly purple, not indigo.
“Chris?” Derby called, raising his hand. “These shirts are actually purple.”
“Oh, thank you for correcting me. I’ll just go and fix that now, since purple and indigo obviously aren’t the same color,” Chris replied sarcastically.
Several contestants almost raised their hands to comment that indigo was not in fact the same color as purple, but thought better of it.
“As you can probably also tell, our competition today will involve running a race!” Chris continued. The contestants, once again, looked at each other in confusion. A waffle fell to the floor at Dennis’s table.
“No? I guess I have to spell everything out. Okay, you’re running a race, meet me at the abandoned factory in five minutes, now GO!”
“But that’s on the other side of the city,” Ry called out.
“Well, I guess you’ll have to run over there. And now, you only have four minutes and fifty seconds to do it, so I’d get moving!” With that, Chris exited the room.
Arizona immediately sighed. Alice looked over at her, her eyebrows contorting.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Running? You saw how I hit that chair. I can barely walk without this.” Arizona waved her cane in the air.
“Well, maybe it’s like a track race. They just run in a straight line. Then you wouldn’t even need that. But I think you can handle it either way.”
“Really?”
“Totally. I believe in you, even if Mika and Mallory…” Alice trailed off.
“Mika and Mallory what?” Arizona asked suspiciously.
“Nothing. I just heard them talking about you. Saying that they weren’t sure what you were doing for the team. Did you notice how they don’t talk to us much anymore?”
Arizona gasped with righteous indignation. “I can’t believe that!”
“I know, I think it’s awful too. Do you want me to try and talk to them before we leave?”
Arizona shook her head. “No, let’s just go.”
“Lead the way.”
Arizona and Alice started walking out of the room. Alice cast a glance back at Mika and Mallory, quickly softening it once she saw Mallory looking at her.
“There, ya saw that, right?” Mika practically shouted, banging her fist on the table. “And there they go, leavin’ us behind!”
It definitely wasn’t the first time their team hadn’t all walked together. Mallory bit her lip. “I mean, they’re friends. It kind of makes sense that they’d walk together.”
“What, are ya tryin’ to play devil’s advocate? She’s evil!”
“If you don’t want to walk separately, then maybe we should catch up to them. We could try to talk to them, see why they left.”
“Oh, I know why they left. And there’s no way I’m walking with that b****!” Mika crossed her arms firmly.
Mallory sighed.
“Eww! I’m not going to run! It’ll totally ruin my makeup. Do you have any idea how long this took to put on?” Lavender questioned her table. No one answered.
Dennis smirked. “Ya don’t run, eh?” Without another word, he picked up and tossed a syrup-drenched waffle in one smooth motion. Before anyone could even blink, it had landed smack-dab on Lavender’s shirt. She shrieked and jumped up from the table. Dennis was right behind her, holding another waffle.
“What about now?” he questioned, starting to run at her. With another shriek, Lavender ran away from him straight out of the doors. He chased after her, cackling.
Ry was the first to stand, looking after Lavender and Dennis with disgust. “This team is a mess,” he mumbled under his breath.
Kiki stood up next to him. “I’m sure the challenge’ll go fine. It can’t be any harder than ta salmon challenge.”
“Yeah. Which we lost.”
“Ain’t no kissin’ this time, tho.” Kiki shrugged. Sure, Dennis and Lav were a little crazy, but they were fast runners.
Gaile stood up beside them. “You guys will do great.” She smiled supportively.
“So says you. You haven’t lost any challenges in a long time,” Ry muttered.
Gaile thought back to it, realizing that her team had been doing surprisingly well. “You’re right. But I know you guys will do just as good this time around.” She looked up at the clock, and quickly pushed in her chair. “We should go! Didn’t Chris say five minutes?”
“I know where the factory is. I’ll lead the way.” Ry stepped away from the table and headed off. Gaile and Kiki hurriedly followed suit, Gaile sparing one look behind her at Jillian and Dakota, who were also getting up to leave.
Jillian stood up, pushing in her chair. “You ready to go?”
“I think so. Thanks for the fruit, by the way.”
Jillian smiled. She’d shared some breakfast with Dakota since Chris had come down almost right after he’d gotten there. “Hopefully it’ll be enough for the challenge. You can burn around 557 calories by running for one hour, and I’m not sure how long the race will be.”
“Really? I didn’t know that!”
Jillian blushed a little, the attention too much for her. “I just read a lot of books.” She paused, looking around the room. “Hey, do you see Ashley anywhere?”
Dakota joined her in her search. “No, I don’t. I guess she already left.” He sighed, biting his lip and clutching his camera.
“Don’t… don’t worry about it.” Jillian stumbled for words as she tried to be supportive in the best way. “I’m sure she’s not that mad.”
“I hope not.” Dakota looked to the door, where Gaile was on her way out. “I guess we should go and just catch up with Ashley when we get to the… to the...”
“Factory.” Jillian filled in for him, since he looked a little lost. “Come on. If we get there a little early, maybe you can talk to her before the challenge starts.” She smiled, and the two jogged off together.
“Well, I declare the team meeting finished,” Derby proclaimed. “My first action as leader of the challenge is deciding that we all walk together to strategize.”
“Do we really need a strategy? I mean, it’s just running, right?” Bailey asked, standing up from her seat.
“Yes, I think we do.” Derby nodded his head to accentuate his point. “We haven’t done great on running challenges in the past, so I believe that we should strategically plan based on previous episodes.”
The Baroness finished off the last bite of her cereal and stood up as well. He wasn’t saying that she had made them do badly on the race challenges too, was he? She should be supportive of him, though, even if he was possibly tarnishing her image. She didn’t want to seem too confrontational, since he wasn’t a bad lad. “Aye, well, a strategy might be a good idea. Never hurt to have a plan up yer sleeve.”
Benny was still sitting at the table, looking a little zonked out. Derby reached back and tapped him on the shoulder. “Benny? Benny, are you awake?”
“Huh?” Benny jolted up a little, shaking his head. “Yeah, yeah. Sorry about that. The challenge is purple?”
“Indigo,” Derby clarified.
“Oh yeah. Sorry. Indigo. Sorry, I didn’t mean to doze off. Are we walking together?”
“Yeah. We need to strategize,” Bailey said, in a way that sounded like she really wasn’t interested in strategizing. “But we need to move! We only have four minutes!”
“Shoot!” Benny stood up quickly, tripping slightly over his chair. “Come on, Selene,” he called automatically before stopping, looking around and sighing slightly. The Baroness gave him a supportive pat on the shoulder.
“It’s alright, lad. Avast! We walk.” Following Derby’s lead, the team rushed out of the hotel.
The camera switched over to Chris, who was sitting in his car outside of the factory, reclining in his seat. “Ahh. Nothing like fast transportation to make watching other people suffer even more fun!” He laughed as the first contestants arrived, panting and sweaty. “Oh man. If they’re sweating now, I can’t wait to see what they’ll be like in the real challenge!”
Chris turned his gaze away from the car windows and back to the camera. “And they’ll be sweating in a moral way too! Will Mika be able to prove that Alice is a jerk without losing Mallory’s trust? Will the red team ever resolve all of their inter-team drama? Will Derby’s leadership be an epic win, or an epic fail? Will the yellow team pull a lemons and horribly mess up the challenge… again?” Chris smirked, watching more contestants arrive. “Find out who’s gonna stay, and who needs to indi-go after the break on Total! Drama! Colors!” With an epic pan up to the factory, the camera faded to black.
Total Drama Colors Episode 6, Prologue: Indigot To Go Fast
As the show started, the camera showed none other than Chris McLean, standing in front of what appeared to be an abandoned factory. It was obviously abandoned no longer, as harsh sounds of crunching, crushing, and metal on metal could be heard in the background.
“Last time, on Total Drama Colors!” Chris started, as the screen flashed back to clips from the previous episode. “Our contestants turned up the heat with a yellow-themed cooking challenge!” The screen then flashed over all of the teams gathering ingredients and preparing their dishes. “Some contestants proved that they could make a real chef d'oeuvre,” the camera flashed to the green team’s beautiful omelets, “while others showed to us that too many cooks spoils the challenge,” the screen switched to the chaos on the blue team, including Selene knocking Benny into the lemon squares.
“Some teams baked up a storm,” the camera showed the red team’s cake, “while others made… oh, who am I kidding. I can’t even make a pun for this. They made lemons. Just a plate full of lemons.” The camera zoomed in on the lemon dish. “Sometimes I just…”
Chris took a deep breath to calm down, and the camera switched back to him. “This time, thankfully, there will be no opportunity to poison the host of the show, because today’s challenge is… a race!” He grinned and the camera zoomed out, showing the huge expanses of factory space behind him. “Will the polar bears trip at the finish line? Will Lavender end up heading for the hills? Will the parrots run out of luck? Will the penguins find that their hopes of victory are still dashed? No matter what, it’ll be a real rat race this time on Total! Drama! Colors!”
The sky was starting to set into the colorful hues of dusk, leaving Ry with enough time to adjust after the challenge now. He could barely remember what it was like to relax. He was still feeling pissed off at his team, but he was less steamed about it and more focused on just leaving his mind to creative mixes; if he could find something to draw tonight, he might not snap the next day and get himself eliminated because of that sheer idiocy…
Who’d even defend him from Kiki anyway…?
Ry’s feet calmly tapped a foot along to the song that was currently blasting in one ear, his eyes slightly closed from the feeling of being enraptured by the sheer beat of the music. “Young blood, doesn’t it feel like our time is running out?” He sang along, his hand formed up to snap along with the beat now.
It was probably time for a change, but he couldn’t even begin to comprehend how he’d manage something like that without digging his own grave. He’d have to focus on how to get rid of his issues without trying to do something risky like–the Baroness’s words–causing a mutiny to fail.
“Wearing our vintage misery. No, I think it looked a little better on me…” He continued to sing, watching the sun sink below the skyline. He’d chosen to sit on an abandoned playground’s playset, his feet dangling off the side.
“Hey young blood, doesn’t it feel like our time is running out? I’m gonna change you like a remix. Then I’ll raise you like a phoenix…” He sighed, lifting his head up as the song ended, leaving him back in stony silence.
As soon as he caught glimpse of the peson walking on the playground in front of him, he felt his heart leap into his throat from the sheer shock that he’d once more been caught singing. Mentally groaning, he jumped down off the playset and pointed at them while uttering, “Nobody who hears me sing ever walks away alive, you know?” The threat was barely there, but really he could use the company; maybe it was time to get another person trapped in a miserable situation with him again…
He knew he fucking needed it.
