What the hell Sally Face fanart in the big 2026

#tbh this was mostly motivated by my annoyance at people either drawing Sal with #A. Very superficial cuts #or #B. Basically just burn scars #and either way drawing those scars as being very fresh #his scars are 8 to 21 years old depending where you are in the game timeline #the skin is maybe a little puffier and less blended towards the start of the game #but at the end it should basically just be some old scars from reconstruction surgery/graft discoloration #the bigger disruption to his face is his jaw/eye socket reconstruction #(as seen in his skeleton)#speaking of his skeleton I’m kinda annoyed his right eye is canonically a glass eye #because itd make more sense for it to be built into his facial prosthetic given the level of damage his eye socket suffered #but its my own fault for trying to apply medical realism to a not great representation of a craniofacial prosthesis #which is covering up head trauma that isn’t very well depicted in game either #I should really just make my own characters with facial differences #sally face #sal fisher #my art

I know everyone and their mother has done a roundup of magazines asking “are men not manly enough” and “are we too androgynous now” but really funny to encounter one in the wild.

The problem with characters who exist in a story is that you need to actually tell that story.

#still continuing to overthink the idea of telling the story through secondary sources about the comic #because I think it’s interesting I think it speaks to how I and a lot of other people consume comics #exploring a comic that doesn’t exist through the sources which would discuss it #but fundementally it means the comic uhhh can’t be good?#like writing another person liking your story is Bad #I guess I could have the secondary sources primarily be people who didn’t like the comic #hmm #anyway I’m very hot and that makes me overthink

It is really funny when a new person learns that I have a family story for every occasion. Because it’s one of the only things that I info dump about that isn’t considered weird in my family. Like the Lore is just a shared special interest.

Should’ve gone to sleep an hour ago instead keeping myself awake thinking about what it means that in the chapter full of Peanuts references, we get an explicit callout of the moon in Noelle’s room being a baseball.

Which is a reference to the “Sack” storyline (Schulz’s favorite Peanuts arc) wherein Charlie Brown becomes so fixated on baseball that he starts hallucinating baseballs everywhere, even including as a rash on his own head, driving him to wear a sack to cover it and go to summer camp to get away from his thoughts, where as “Mr Sack” he becomes beloved around camp as a wise and just prophet.

Like we know baseball = Dess. We know Noelle is fixated on finding her. So on its own the baseball moon representing just how all encompassing that search is already says a lot. But it feels like it says more in the context of the Sack storyline.

Rereading the Rebel Genius series because the new Avatar stuff made me remember DiMartino has seemingly forgotten about it. Loosing my mind ngl.

It turns out one of these characters was supposed to have a west African father and the other wasn’t. I KNOW you can draw texture DiMartino how did I only just realize her dad was African by realizing that the nation he’s from, Katunga, was named after the real world capital of the Oyo Empire.

#the Oyo Empire was located in modern day Nigeria #she was described as ‘3 shades darker then the other kids’#but tbh given the whole first book is set in fantasy Italy I did think she was just a darker Italian
