The National Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, along with many other national and international Greek organizations is made up of a society of extremely smart, ambitious, and kind women and men who are devoted to their chapters and to giving to their communities. Women's and men’s Sororities and Fraternities were and are founded with the common goal of creating a life-lasting bond between extraordinary women and men who concentrate on achieving their highest potential in the values of sister and brotherhood, scholarship, community service... the list goes on. This show not only misrepresents the true meaning of what it is to be a Sorority Woman and a Fraternity Man, but it mocks everything that these individuals stand for. It is a disgusting, inaccurate display of what we strive to accomplish, and its airing only fuels the ever-present distasteful stereotype that we have been fighting to erase.
We must fight against the idea that all Fraternity men do is “throw parties,” and all Sorority women do is “attend these parties and date the fraternity men.” We must stand up for our fellow greek members and show those who are on the outside what it truly means to be greek.
Stand up for your sisters, your brothers, your best friends, and your family.
We must all come together to put an end to TLC's clear derogatory distortion of sorority women and fraternity men that can be seen in the videos below:
