        “ Crap. ” Cursing was not a normal form of speech for them, harsh words typically only ever left them when a) in a moment of extreme stress / anger or b) their sickness decided to grab them and force them into a headlock. Luckily it was neither. Instead it was a rare third possibility, they were out of cigarettes. As odd as it may have seemed, Gaia was quite the frequent smoker, and no, smoking had little to no ill effect on the ancient. The only effect it did have was numbing their more irritable / aggressive moods, hence their sudden crabbiness. “ You have a cigarette on you ? I’m all out and I’m not yet familiar with this place to know where I can buy some. ” They’d inquire to the nearby lady, soft and polite voice quite the contrast to the growl that had left them just a few seconds ago.

smoking was a habit she knew long and well ( albeit her currently having to attempt to ditch such an acquaintance ) but such an inquiry wasn’t something that particularly caught her off guard since once or twice she had been in the same predicament.  ❛  ah .. yes, i have one. hang on.  ❜   tone was soft and gentle regardless of the other being a stranger as she dug through her small purse before finding what she was looking for. it seems the package was unopened ( doing good ... )   ❛  ... you know what, you can have the whole package. i’m trying to quit anyway for my child.   ❜   holding the package out to them, she even offered a smile. there was no hint of ill intent or discomfort with conversing with the other ... it was simply genuine kindness.

❛ Ahhh, say Ue-ue… How are things going with Fumio - ssi?❜ A blatant inquiry accompanied with gentleness upon her tone. However, there was a slight menacing aura around her each time she mentioned Fumio. Yes, she was still testing him and it’ll be a long time before she accepted him as a whole. Nonetheless, as long as Ueyama was happy, she’d endure it. As she patiently waited for an answer, she quietly sipped a glass of wine that one of her hands was holding. Ueyama was always honest, so frankly, she never doubted her answers.

the worry and caution befitting that of a mother, a true genuine mother that truly deserves the title. hands place ‘pon her lap, one reached up to curl her index finger under her bottom lip as she thought for a brief moment on how to answer the inquiry about her new found relationship ( one healthier than the one with him .. ) 

❛  things are going well! he’s watching over tomoko for the day, i think he’s taking her to a park? though, it depends on where her little heart yearns to go. ❜  her voice is naturally soft, as if it had never once known anger or anything of the sort.
