     Seeing Sirius work at Starbucks was entertaining to Annie -- she remembered the days where he swore he’d never ever work there ( it was sometimes a struggle dragging him when she needed her daily fix ) yet, there he was. After getting her drink, she sat near the counter where he was working, “you get off soon, right?? Sorry to bother you, even though I know you’re DYING to make more Caramel Macchiatos.”

     “It would,” Annie trailed off, realizing that she could no longer argue with Lucinda because it was moot. Still, she had to get a point in, “BUT, I don’t have time for it right now. I’m just worried, I don’t know if I’m going to get into this music school and I’m thinking of sending other samples in.”

“Everything’s peachy. Just fine. Yes, no problems at all.” Dedalus had bitten off more than he could chew. The colorful lights of the bar had been down for almost an hour, yet there he was, literally covered in thick power cords, plugging and cutting and unplugging. “I’m getting this fixed like I offered to do, it’s fine. I don’t work well under pressure though.”

     “Listen, I appreciate it,” Annie gave him a smile, “even if you’re just helping me with my dramatic aesthetic, I’ll buy you a drink?? Something??” Playing open mics in bars was sometimes stressful enough without technical difficulties so any help she got was much appreciated. “I THOUGHT I grew out of being so bloody stressed but, here I am pressuring you. Now you have to let me buy you a drink.”

“I would say it’s a Rosier trait, but let’s be realistic: all purebloods are dramatic. All witches and wizards are, really.” Evan shook his head and rolled his eyes, though he chuckled nonetheless. Everyone was dramatic and everyone was annoying. Then again, they were all teenagers itching to get out in the real world. What could you expect? “I’m doing perfectly fine. Slughorn is truly testing my patience and my nerves with these assignments, but other than that, everything is going swimmingly. What about you?”

     Well, that was correct indeed -- all purebloods were dramatic. Even the disgraced ones, but especially the entitled ones, the ones from families that were ‘purer than the rest’. Another laugh left her throat as she nodded her head in agreement, ❝for Agrippa’s sake, Slughorn’s testing everyone’s patience -- he gave Mary MacDonald an extra EIGHT inches on her paper today, and while usually I’d say her annoying demeanor warranted it -- she a c t u a l l y didn’t. He’s on a WARPATH. Slughorn of all people.❞ Andromeda hadn’t meant to rant as much as she had but even all the studying in the world she did for Slughorn’s classes never seemed to pay off, Emmeline Vance constantly did better & it had been a point of frustration she’d dealt with for years. 

         ❝Swimmingly?? I’m not very convinced. Me? I’m waiting for news of my betrothal -- we’re almost done with the school year and neither mother nor father have sent me a thing about it. I’m simply tired, Evan, but school’s almost over so, there’s that.❞ The truth was, she was TERRIFIED of what was outside the walls of Hogwarts, but she didn’t want to bother Evan with that. Especially because what she was terrified about concerned people she shouldn’t have even given a sickle about.

     God, the way she was presenting herself then was so stuffy it was no wonder some of them in her year were closer with each other than her. Maybe it also had to do with the fact that the people she felt closest to were her family and a certain person she should’ve been avoiding. Still, she knew the proper thing was to offer congratulations ( which she did ), but then shrugged off trying to say something funny after she told her she wanted to be a bridesmaid.    ❝Wow?? Really?? Definitely. I’ll be there. Though, that must be all DAUNTING. I know there’s talks of mine happening but I haven’t gotten any word and I just hope  .... it stays that way for quite a bit.” We’re too young for this, she wanted to say, but kept it at what she did.

With a dramatic sigh, Evan closed his Potions book and glanced at the person sitting across from him. “Oh, I’m sorry. Was there something about my face that made it appear as though I was interested in conversation?“ He set the book aside and leaned forward, unable to prevent the slightest smirk from spreading across his face. "I suppose I’ll have to get that checked out. Since you now have my mostly undivided attention, what did you need?”

       ❝You’re so dramatic, I wonder where you get it from,❞  Andromeda laughed, because their whole family had a flare for dramatics. She was trying to make the mood lighter because truthfully -- she’d been zoning out. Her mind thinking things that she shouldn’t but it was a more recently developed habit at this point. Still, she didn’t want him to pick up on it -- she didn’t want to have to LIE to him when he asked her what she was thinking about. Sighing, she put a soft hand on his,  ❝how are you doing, Evan?? That’s what I was truly wondering, crotchety attitude and all.❞

she looped an arm through the other girl’s, linking them so that andromeda couldn’t shy away. “i’m slightly enamoured with one of our own, but you’re not allowed to tell him that. i’m making the boy work for it.” 

     ❝Okay, okaaay,❞  Meda agreed, ❝fair enough, fair enough, wine does have that effect on some, you still have privileges,❞  she smiled, letting herself be pulled & linked easily. Her eyebrows shot up, and a grin encompassed her face because ENAMORED?? Lyra Nott was e n a m o r e d with someone?? Beautiful. ❝Good, always make them work for it. ALWAYS. May I ask who it is, or is that a mystery?? Should I try to guess??❞

      “ Well that might make this party a bit more interesting, “ Emma responded with a shrug of her shoulders. Truthfully, she was joking. There was no way she would let one of the aforementioned boys near her mouth. She had standards after all. She discarded the cherry stem and placed her tongue back delicately in her mouth. Without any pause, Emma leaned over towards the girl and inspected her cup. “ Water? ” She questioned. “ Come on, Andy, even I have had a drink or two. ” Emma herself wasn’t really known for partying much as she liked to keep a pretty clear head. But, even she’d taken the opportunity to enjoy herself tonight. 

       ❝Oh, please, don’t look at me like that!! Actually, I had some wine before I came because none of these drinks are anywhere near my poison of choice,❞   she smiled, trying to lighten the mood because Emma’s look was cutting. No matter what she did, the other girl seemed to be intense, full on, unapologetically living & it made Andromeda uncomfortable at times because she aspired to be that way. Aspired but felt so unable to, that she could’ve easily envied Emma for it but she tired not to. There would’ve been no point to it -- she’d made her own bed & slept in her own silk sheets every night.    ❝It’s interesting how the air seems different in each house, party wise. I don’t think I’ve ever attended a Slytherin or Ravenclaw party so .... vibrant with .... CHARACTERS.❞

     Honestly, the prospect of Alecto rehashing a night she’d lost control was much more terrifying to her than her just dancing the other girl.   ❝You really do know how to THREATEN people, you realize??❞  Meda started to move her body a bit,   ❝satisfied??❞

     ❝AMAZING, watching this,❞ Meda commented beside Vera, truly marveled at the male ego and how pathetic it was when deflated with a few s i m p l e comments. ❝Like watching you pop a balloon with one of your stilettos. -- By the way, I’m here to give you a proper congratulations on your engagement,❞ she took a deep breath because even as the words came out of her mouth, she didn’t want to say them. She knew what this all meant and the more she thought ( which, she shouldn’t of ) the more she realized how disturbed it was. Nevertheless, ❝it’s a good match. Have you looked at venues?? Or are you having it at one of the manors??❞

The thought of home flashed in her brain but Meda was able to push it away before it could properly blind her with panic. ❝But, who’ve you got your eye on??❞
