To continue my post a little bit, mostly just to explain a little why I get so nervous so quickly about peoples open dislike of a ship.
I'll try to make this as short as possible, but when I was 19y I was in fact "cancelled" in a fandom. I shipped a pairing that had an age gap (the younger character was 26y -and the drawings I made were 100% just fluff) and that was something that was enough to make people be absolutely horrid about it. The ship wasn't popular at all, in fact there was maybe max 10 people (if even that) doing any content for it and it also didn't really have a lot of fans. But my drawings did have some traction, more so my general character art about the media.
But there was people who truly hated seeing the ship and they put that hate on me (I guess because I was the first one to draw them or something?), I started getting hate messages, people were making posts about how my art shouldn't be supported, people made posts about how supporting my art of the ship is morally bad, also popular general fandom blogs were warned about my art and how they shouldn't reblog even my general character drawings. First I limited tagging my works with anything but the ship name but that didn't help at all, people came to complain that it's not enough unless I completely stop posting the ship, because there's always a change the ship art might end up at their timeline from someones reblogs. Then I stopped tagging completely, didn't help I still got a lot of messages. And the messages were not nice, some where literally threatening me, some where comments about how morally I was a monster, some were about how my art specifically is ruining the fandom, some where blaming me for their mental health getting worse, some even send me pictures of self harm, it was absolutely horrible and my head could not take it. In the end I closed my DMs completely because people would send me things even after I closed anons (the dms were often from profiles that had no icon or posts), I privated everything I did of that media, I even closed my tumblr completely for a while because I just couldn't take the hate and needed a break from the messages. After opening my tumblr again, at this point I completely stopped interacting with the fandom, yet for 2 years even after I stopped interacting with the fandom and drawing the ship I got sometimes hate messages about it. (thankfully it stopped after the 2 year silence from me) The whole experience truly made me unable to even deal with the original source material.
Unfortunately the experience made me also extremely weak to seeing ship hate. I know that the poll about peoples opinion on weskertine isn't hate content, it's a neutral question/poll, but at the same time it is now a reminder that most people don't like the ship (dunno if this need to be said but obviously people don't need to like it - it's just how vocal people are about their hate that makes me uncomfortable). Which just depresses me. One of the reasons why I don't search weskertine stuff on twitter is because in my experience every second post is just about how someone hates the ship and wishes bad on people who like it. It is exhausting to see and try to keep reminding myself not to care.
But yeah, a little extra overly long explanation why I'm kind of spooked by things easily.
