Let there be another stage
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation at Tokyo Game Show ‘99.
[XXVII] Celebrating 20 years of braid physics. Lara from The Last Revelation, my favorite Tomb Raider game. :)
Day 1: Favorite game in the series.
Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation.
First of all: We’re in Egypt.
[Yes, Lara has been in Egypt before in Tomb Raider I. But I really didn’t enjoy those three levels cause they were too scary for me. They still are! Goddamn, I hate those Atlantean mummies and then they just get worse! And I don’t like the design of those levels.]
So again, first of all we’re in Egypt. I love ancient Egypt and it’s even better that we have a whole huge game completely set in Egypt.
I love the story. Lara is searching for a certain artifact [like she always does] but after finding and releasing it she accidentally dooms the world. And instead of running away from her mistake, she fights against it. She tries to save the world by risking her own life, again!
And then we have my favorite Egyptian god: Seth. I like the idea that Lara has to face an ancient God this time. [And it’s Seth okay? I just like him!]. His design is great and you sometimes had this anxious feeling that he is always watching you.
I like the gameplay. Of course, it hasn’t changed too much from the previous games, but I like the little things that Core added: Rope swinging, combining items, new weapons etc.
The traps, challenges and riddles are amazing in this game! Like that one, where you have to look into a mirror to avoid deadly spikes, or the one were you could walk on water after using certain items, or the one were you have to use a little mechanical scarab to activate traps.
I love the level design. Every single level is just breath taking and awesome! You really have the feeling like you’re in Egypt. And I think that is pretty awesome for a game which was made back in the 90′s.
We have so many different enemies in this game. You just never knew what was waiting for you around the corner.
Lara’s background story: Finally we learn more about our heroine and about her origins!
The atmosphere, the soundtrack, the tutorial with Lara’s mentor Werner von Croy at the beginning of the game… I could go on, I just love everything in this game.
For me, Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation is one of the best Tomb Raider games! <3
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation - Pyramid, Mastabas (Part 1):
“Well, time to talk about a pretty big level. So big that I will have to make two gifsets. Climbing the pyramid is one of my favorite moments in this game, so this is a perfect level for me. A big focus on exploration, shooting and of course…platforming. I really like this level. It may not be an easy one, but it sure is fun.”
PS: the gameplay used for this gifset is not mine. Check HERE to see the original video.
Tomb Raider - the Last Revelation: Young Lara
I was going to do another outfit for Tomb Raider III, but I saw someone draw Young!Lara and decided to give it a try. I was also going to draw the Iris to accompany the piece, but as I plan to draw it with another outfit from Tomb Raider Chronicles, I opted for a golden skull instead. I love how it turned out. I wanted her to look fascinated with her little find, I hope I managed to get that across :-) Credits under the cut

Was messing around with Lara’s design and this is what I came up with. Jonell Elliott’s version is much more inviting and appears young whereas Juddith Gibbins version looks mature and stern(and less cartoonish). I doodle these based on their voices of course and me being a sucker for stylized caricature, Jonell’s version wins!(and way more fun to draw~)
Well to be honest I haven’t played TR2 and TR3 so, I’m not used to hearing Juddith Gibbins voice as Lara. I’ve played the other ones except for those two. Shelly Blond had a warm touch to the character and in my opinion, Jonell achieved that tone perfectly. So having AoD Lara with Juddith voice sounds very odd to me.
Also a couple of young Lara design for good measure.
You wouldn’t believe me, but it looks even better live! 😍😍😍 Thank you @adayka (and thank you to your doggy) ! I am so happy I won the raffle!!!
