I don't know how to feel wanting to draw only the characters so I went ahead and redesigned them to make myself feel a little better about drawing them. I wanted to give them a more geared look to what they represent or overall shift the body language.
Ginger - Cookie Baker, I wanted to remove the front bangs and change the hair shape to be more distinct and to uncover the bite mark that wasn't shown well. I also added in a brown palette onto the red to mimic the gingerbread style with her apron.
Looey - He needed an overall more stronger look as a balloon animal. The knotches on his ears and tail weren't necessary because those same notches are supposed to be used to connect the body parts together. Also added in the collar. Overall I would enjoy drawing him more this way
Poppy - I wasn't sure what to do until I was given the idea of her soda advertisement and from there I focused a bit more on an energetic pop energy and changed her color palette to be a "Cherry Soda" Vibe. The shirt/short thing is also really fun to look at and adds volume to her unique style she's being told to us vaguely.
Scraps - I wanted to lean more into the origami but also add in the craft style. Her dress technically is her paper body, but added in stringy yarn ball hands with the dried macaroni fingers, long and blocky paper towel rolls, and a plastic cup attached with wooden blocks. She's supposed to show creativity but her creative look was stunted entirely.
Bobette - Bobette needed to lean more into the santa role and I did that by changing her outfit to look in design like a pine tree dress and making the collar fluff more 'santa beard' shaped. I also made her boots similar to stockings you'd put on a fireplace.
Ribecca - She needed a better bone structure overall. I used Grimm from Billy and Mandy as a reference for her bone structure and removed the sleeves on the jacket to show more of those bones. The bones already look like sleeves, why would I cover them? I also muted the colors a bit to make the greenish color look like glow in the dark paint and inverted her eyes because she doesn't have EYES.
Flutter - I wanted to do a more fuller, fluffier look for Flutter while adding more emphasis on the heart motif. She used to be a holiday exclusive toon, she's loved for one reason or another. I also like the idea that she does have limbs similar to a butterfly's, all spindly, but she doesn't use them up so she's weaker in grabbing stuff except for using her mouth as to pick stuff up (If you get the reference congrats)
I might do more if people are interested? If the designs are more appealing I might also do short comics. I really do want to do something with the idea of Main Toon Looey, the AU I briefly drew before.
