This godforsaken planet was really making Bucky question everything. Why had he ever thought it was a good idea to leave Earth, the only planet humanity knew fit for their life? Heâd been fine hiding out. He didnât have a secret identity, but many of these people either did, or could have. Not everyone was as wanted as he was, and those that were had a way to stay safe. But this? This didnât seem like a good idea. He was trying to stay polite, but after the rescue team arrived, heâd had a bone to pick with whoever let some of the people come along. One of those was Yelena. She was supposed to be living a better life. âDid you come all this way to save me and Nat, because thatâs the only possible explanation I can think of for why youâd be out here.â @trainedwidowâ
yelena knew she wasnât like the others that were here â the people that others would call heroes â perhaps she was too disillusioned to the world to be that. she lacked the inner morality that she assumed led others to want to do good. yet, she also wasnât evil. she didnât have a nefarious plot to destroy others. the second black widow simply knew what she was, and that it couldnât be changed. then she saw people like natasha and bucky, that seemed to think they could change, and she wasnât sure if she was humored or envious. âif anyone were to admit to trying to save natasha sheâd likely kick them in the head, so i wouldnât say that.â yelena pointed out with a shrug, russian accent still heavy in her voice. a voice in the back of her mind told her she had been concerned, but she pushed that back down. âi heard what happened, decided i need a bit of adventure. you oppose?â
natasha  wouldnât  say  that  the  feeling  she  had  for  yelena  was  entirely  love.  it  was  certainly  something  that  dwelled  around  the  emotion;  but  she  was  a  stranger  to  its  truths  just  as  much  as  the  blonde  spider  was  as  well.  a  tightened  frown  creased  itself  upon  her  lips  as  she  allowed  her  expression  to  soften  momentarily  for  the  other.  despite  all  of  natashaâs  failings,  yelena  was  a  success  for  her.  the  younger  widow  had  escaped,  had  done  better,  had  become  the  family;  the  sister  that  natasha  deserved.  still,  she  hadnât  wished  to  see  the  other  make  an  appearance  on  this  forsaken  planet.  âwhat  are  you  doing  here?"  she  asked,  deciding  to  stick  to  the  common  tongue  of  english  for  now  -  and  reserving  the  russian  for  another  time.  "you  shouldnât  have  come."  the  elder  widow  knew  that  sooner  or  later  there  would  be  a  chance  of  rescue;  especially  with  the  likes  of  tony  stark  and  reed  richards  still  grounded  to  earth  -  but  she  hadnât  expected  her.
a question that had plagued yelenaâs mind since she boarded that rescue ship, leaving behind whatever so-called life sheâs made for herself, to come to this far off planet. she gave herself surface level excuses, repaying an old debt, boredom, etc. but the truth of it was not so easy to come to terms with â that no matter how much wealth she made, there was only one person that actually knew her. it didnât surprise her that the older widowâs first question was the same as the one sheâd been asking herself. âyou go off in space, donât invite me, and iâm left with no worthy competition.â she glossed over it with a shrug of her shoulders. truthfully, she hadnât really thought of natasha as competition in years. âmaybe i shouldnât have but i needed a good challenge. besides, i was so sure you missed me.â her lips pulled into a slight grin as she stepped forward, âi was also not told that there would be so much sand. what exactly is the appeal of this planet?â

Brief Background:
the earliest portion of the life of yelena belova is a blur â blank spots and flashes of memories she isnât certain are reality or fabrications of a once young girl. the first clear memories she possesses are of the red room, where she trained for well over a decade. later, she would read in her file that they had taken interest in her when she displayed great gymnastic talents at a young age and her parents had sent her to the program willingly, in service of mother russia. she once wondered if they knew they were sending their child to become a trained killer, and promptly dismissed the thought.
her loyalty to the red room, the black widow training, was tried and true â she didnât question her orders and worked tirelessly to impress her handlers. it was all sheâd known, and her only purpose in life. yet, no matter how hard yelena worked, how perfect all of her marks were, she heard endlessly of natalia romanova. eager to prove herself, she developed a blind desire to surpass natasha, and establish the sole title of the black widow. she would have her opportunity when natasha defected from the program. her handlers and those running the program tested her to become their new widow with natasha gone, and yelena passed. as far as she was concerned, the title was hers. but with the other still out there, yelena volunteered for every mission that gave her opportunity to go face to face with natahsa â and it was her own undoing.Â
through their many confrontations, natasha helped yelena see the way the red room was using her, that her superiors had lied to her on multiple occasions, and truly didnât care for her life â and would end it the moment she became a liability to them. disillusioned, yelena left russia and the red room behind, though her relationships with natasha was forever altered. though she would always feel some competition between them, there was a mutual respect for a sister-in-arms, having been raised in a way that only they could understand.Â
ever since, yelena has made a name for herself in other ways â under a false name, she owns a large lingerie line and multiple other sources of income and sits on an elusive empire, under fake identities and shell company tactics that make it nearly impossible to trace anything back to herself but also providing her substantial wealth to sit on. all the while, when she gets bored, sheâs an assassin for hire and a trained widow comes at a high price.
QUESTIONNAIRE.
How is your character taking the unilateral decision to leave earth?
admittedly, yelena isnât thrilled to leave her wealth behind, it was something sheâd built for herself but it wasnât a devastating change. she thrives on adapting to new situations, and there was nothing personal tying her to earth in an substantial sense.
Is your character cooperating with the other groups, or fighting against these tentative new alliances?
yelena is impartial, for the most part. the list of people she trusts is short and itâs within her most reasonable tactic to play along for the time being. she wants to know all of the details but it isnât unlike her to turn on anyone in a moments notice if it fits her needs.
If your character volunteered to be part of the first two groups to Orbulite, or the rescue group sent after them, why?
yelena came with the rescue group, having heard that natasha had gone in the groups and though she wonât admit to some genuine concern, she canât be letting the other widow one up her either.
ANYTHING ELSE?
yelena has come in her widow attire ( ei; tac suit, widow bites, various spy trade tools. gun, knife )
