Depth of Field
It happens to us all. We can easily lose focus in the rough times. The one Person who should be squarely in focus is Jesus. Our lives should revolve around whether or not we see Him in and through all aspects of our lives. I’ve had one of the longest seasons out of focus.
My depth of field has been everything around me but not the One in front of me. The stresses of work, finances, relationships, and ministry have been the main focal point by which my life’s lens fixated on. My faith began to dwindle like it never has before. My mind became a literal battlefield and I was stuck at the edge, close to stepping behind enemy lines. I’ve been lower in every single way than I have ever been in my entire life.
However, the power of lowly seasons is that one gains an insatiable desire to pray and draw near to God in undignified ways. I have sat before and little kid cried. I mean, straight up huffed and puffed and balled my eyes out. I’m slowly growing out of this season and Jesus stands front and center before me. He’s always been here. I can see Him in everything once again and more clearly than ever. Joy is my anchor. Worship is my lifeblood. Joy and worship are what keeps me going. Joy reminds me that no matter what my season or my situations are looking like, I can must be confident in the fact that God is working it all. He’s making all things new. He is worthy of all the praise and all the glory.
Out of this season, I will be able to share my testimony and everyone will exclaim: “Won’t He do it!” I’m joyful because this will all glorify Him; all of it. I pray these lyrics would remain my anthem for as long as possible: "I count on one thing. The same God that never fails. Will not fail me now. You won't fail me now. In the waiting, The same God who's never late, Is working all things out. You’re working all things out. Yes I will, lift You high in the lowest valley. Yes I will, bless Your name. Oh, yes I will, sing for joy when my heart is heavy. All my days, oh yes I will.”
