As the title says, this is our self indulgent MOGAI coining && flag making blog! Our terms will likely be related to our identities, specially our blackness and our transfemaveriquinity.
We've been on tumblr and the MOGAI community for a while but this is our first attempt at actually making flags so please be patient! We are chronically fatigued and usually don't have spoons for IDs, we apologize for that. Because of that, we also may post very inconsistently.
We try our best to not make repeat flags but we don't have eyes everywhere so, if any of our terms is similar to an existing one, consider ours an alternative.
We don't have a DNI and we're not interested in discourse.
LIPPIA ALBA ;; A term for afrolatines who feel disconnected from both cultures due to being mixed, like they're both "not black enough" and "not latine enough". Similar to roselle tea but for afrolatine folks. Exclusive to bodily afrolatines (including diaspora).
MEANING ;; Lippia Alba is a flowering plant with the very rare feat of being native both from Africa and Latin America, since both continents were separated a long time ago and stationary organisms like plants wouldn't be able to spread in both continents without branching out to other species, making this little flower a very special one.
EXTRA ;; Requested by an anon for the transfemmav 2nd monthiversary event!
PROMPT ;; Are you intersex or questioning? how has it affected your identity?
Conent warning: this post includes discussions of intersexism, including medical intersexism
HOST (with input from Orchid) ;; ya we're informally diangosed with partial androgen insensitivy syndrome, and when i say "informally" i mean "those kinds of conditions are super hard to diagnose and they have so many similar diagnosis sometimes it's not worthy to do all the invasive and expensive tests to figure which hyperspeficic intersex condition we have, so our endocrinologist settled for pais". getting an intersex diagnosis, or at the very least being medically recognized as intersex is frankly a pain in the ass, and of course, being black makes it harder (this also applies to many marginalizations). but we eventually got there, after years of medical abuse, seeking a proper diagnosis, finding a community, i'm happy to say we're generally proud of being intersex.
IRIS ;; We are usually private about our intersex condition since these kinds of conversations usually lead to uncomfortable questions regarding our genitals. Perisex folks often feel entitled to know personal details about intersex bodies, but I decided to use this post as an opportunity to share some educational facts about our condition.
We have 46,XY karyotype. Before HRT we had wolffian traits and we're able to produce testosterone just like our perisex counterparts, but our body struggles to respond to testosterone and similar androgen hormones (like dihydrotestosterone, which is a "more potent" androgen), therefore our body, even before HRT, was undermasculinized compared to our perisex counterparts.
AIS has three subtypes: mild, partial and complete. Individuals with MAIS have fully masculinized genitals while individuals with CAIS have fully feminized genitals (and are usually AFAB), despite having 46XY cromossomes and producing testosterone, their body is fully unable of processing androgens. PAIS is for anything in between MAIS and CAIS, some are visibly CTM, some are visibly CTF, some are CTA. We are on the "milder" side of PAIS.
We don't need to take T blockers as part of our HRT, since our body already "blocks" most of the testosterone we produce. When not processed by the body, testosterone can be converted to estradiol, hence why individuals with AIS and similar conditions might have estrogenized traits.
We had a fair amount of body hair, though less than a perisex wollfian person, after some years of laser and HRT we have almost no body hair. Our hair and skin is very dry and we have severe dermatitis because of our AIS, we need an intense skincare routine just to keep our skin healthy. We never struggled with acne, even after HRT.
We want to be more open about our condition but we need perisex folks to be more sensitive and not ask invasive or overly personal questions.
MYRI (with input from Orchid) ;; majoring biology and studying about animals and hormones made us realize sex isn't that binary! the cultural definitions of sex and gender will never fully describe the sex and gender divesity both humans and other organisms posess. intersex conditions are often treated as diseases to be fixed or cured when they're actually completely natural and should be celebrated instead!
GLORIA (with input from Orchid) ;; Being intersex and trans is being alienated from perisex trans folks. The trans community is so intersexist it's frankly inffuriating, I hate when perisex transfems tell us "we have it easier" because we're unermasculinized, when said undermasculinization is the reason we underwent forced HRT as a teen. Being intersex is having your bodily autonomy taken from you, being violated and forced into a mold, isn't it ironic we turned out transfem even though they tried their hardest to masculinize us? Our experience with gender is fundamentally differnt from perisex people's and it feels so isolating because nobody understands.
ORCHID ;; Being intersex might be isolating, being intersex might come with a lot of trauma and discrimination, but in the end, we want to wholeheartedly embrace our intersexuality. As an act of resistance against the perisex gender binary. Despite everything, we're still here, we're still intersex, and we are reclaiming our body and our identity. I love being intersex, it's intertwined with every aspect of my identity, I wouldn't have it any other way.
CASSII (with input from Orchid) ;; ngl im not sure if the we can refer to our pre-transition self as a cis boy because even though we were ctm and generally raised and referred to as a boy we were still an "undermasculinized boy" because of our intersex traits, growing up intersex is about not belonging, we were too feminized to be a boy and too masculinized to be a girl. sometimes i wonder if we're transfem because we're intersex, like we were meant to be a girl from the begining. i kinda vibe with the idea of having "boy hardware" and "girl software".

can I request one of those terms for those who feel disconnected from both communities for being mixed but specifically for afrolatine folks??? please and thank you! I hope you are doing well and the sickness is dying down for you
Of course! We're going to post your request tomorrow if things go according to plan ^_^
And we're slowly recovering from this cold, thanks for your kind words!
i just wanted to let you know that tags like "#mogai community" were made specifically for non-coining discussions. please dont coin in those tags. thanks!
We are perfectly aware this tag is not for coining and we have never tagged our coining posts under this tag. Here's all of our posts under #mogai community, for reference. None of them are coining posts.
ROSELLE TEA ;; a term for blasian queers who feel disconnected from both asian and black cultures due to being mixed, like they're both "not black enough" and "not asian enough". Similar to satra palm and skipper butterfly but for blasian folks. Exclusive to bodily blasian folks (including diaspora)
MEANING ;; The roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is a type of hibiscus known for its deep red stems and culinary and medicinal properties, specially for its delicious tea that tastes like cramberry, hence its other common names: florida cranberry and crambery-tasting roselle. Despite being famous in Central and North Amercia, this plant is native to tropical Africa and Asia. It has significant importance in several cultures across both continents.
an identity based on an occupation / job-like role, fictional or real. examples include architects, scholars, scientists and marauders (c:aoa). this identity strongly influences the user & one's identification with the occupation may feel like a bigger part of one's identity than with the average experience someone with the occupation normally has. it is an alterhuman identity that isn't necessarily based in nonhumanity.

PROMPT ;; Are you a hoarder? how does this affect your MOGAI identity? if you collect terms, how do you organize them?
DARCY ;; we'd rather not use the words "hoard/hoarding" because it fucks with our OCD. but some of us consider themselves "label collectors", yes, though we really don't have the energy to make a fancy pronouns.cc and download flags for all of our labels like some collectors do. our labels aren't that organized aside from broad categories (e.g.: gender alignment, alterhumanity)
MARCY ;; i know this comparison is a little weird but i feel like for most of us labels are like descriptive hierarchical polyamory... like we have our "primaries", our "secondaries" and our "casual" labels, where the primaries are the most important (for example, transmaverine), secondaries are less important than primaries but often times are also mentioned (for example, skipper butterfly) and casual labels are just cool terms we found somewhere and have minimal attachment to. tbh i feel like my identity comes before labels so i dont have the urge to collect terms for self identification, i collect them for my special interest in MOGAI.
MAV ;; i'm panmaverique and consider all the maverique labels from our femaverique archive (aka, all maverique centred labels we found on this site) my collection! when it comes to my actual identity im more focused on maverique itself, the other labels are more on the "casual" side, i dont feel as attached to them as i feel with maverique, they feel just like a collection.
DIEM ;; In a sense, the sum of all headmates' labels are a collection of sorts.
TAGGING ;; @dragonpride17 and @radiomogai for experiences tag
PROMPT ;; What's your experience with gender? how do you understand it?
HOST ;; Our collective gender is a very central part of our identity! I mean, the blog's name is our gender lol, I want to wake up everyday and look in the mirror and think "woaw, I am the pinnacle transfemmaverinity!" sdksajdna idk how to elaborate we're trans and female and maverique and these labels mean a lot to us.
ORCHID ;; I like the idea of gender as a reclamation of marginalized identities. My gender is centred on being black and intersex, the collective isn't "black first before anything else" but I certainly am. Our blackness has been weaponied against us so many times we could percieve it as a prision and submit to the white supremacy, or we could reclaim and celebrate it, black culture and joy are so important to me it makes absolute sense it's a part of my gender.
MAV ;; fuuuck our head hurts but i must mention (again) that i'm the primary maverinity holder of this polyplex and my whole identity is being maverique... i legit wouldnt exist if vesper h never coined maverique!! being an identity holder and a maverinity embracer is all about spreading maverique positivity and maverique joy! this applies to all genders, of course, but maverinity is so focused on autonomy and authentiticy, on building your own concept of being maverique, of giving no fucks to inposed gender constructs, every maverique is so different yet i feel a strong kinship to all of them... i love being maverique, i love being myself!
JACKIE ;; my main label is "transfemmascfuckoff", which means im transfemmasc and fuck off if you think this is weird or wrong. i absolutely spite imposed gender roles and how we were so hurt by them, before transitioning, after transitioning, whatever, people just cant leave trans people fucking alone. i hate how being forcefully asigned male at birth and being raised as so made us despise masculinity, i hate how people (both outside and within the trans community) demands us to fit within a perfect female standard for being transfem, i hate how we were set up to fail for being black and disabled and intersex. so i became a spiteful little bitch with the sole purpose of being as scandalous and controversial as i can with my gender fuckery.
SCARLET ;; One is not born, but rather becomes a woman. This quote originally referred to cis women, of course, but I think it's central to the transfeminine experience, or rather our transfeminine experience. I am really proud of being a self-made woman, I feel euphoric everytime I apply my hormones, everytime I look in the mirror and see we managed to become the gorgeous woman we longed to be for so long. Although I personally do not identify as maverique, my womanhood is autonomous and somewhat non-conformative by nature, we believe every person should express their gender according to what that gender means to them personally, ask 100 women "what is a woman?" and you'll have 100 different answers. Then, "what's even the point of identifying as a woman?", someone might ask, and in my opinion, it's the sense of community, our concept of femininity might be different from other women's but we're still all women and we can find solidarity with each other.
GLORIA ;; tbh gender is a pain in the ass. i hold mainly memories of transphobia and transmisogyny, specially linked to discrimination towards us within the trans and transfem communities. i am transfem and i want to be transfem but for some fucking reason its never enough, they want me to be a perfect hyerfeminine fishy doll but if i do so i'm suddently a tryhard making a mockery of women, i "have it easy" because im intersex so i should just shut up and let "actual transfems" speak, i will never fit within feminine standarts anyways because im black. and yeah, it sucks, i'm glad most headmates dont have these shitty memories or at least don't fixate on them, but as for me, at the end i grew attached to the idea of being wrong and gross as part of my feminine identity, like im reclaiming those terms. i kinda like being a "wrong girl".
CHŌ (With imput from Diem) ;; Me and Diem are the "gender archivists" of the polyplex! Diem is a MOGAItive of cirdielic (which is also Diem's gender, unsurprisingly) and I'm gendervast specifically because my gender is the sum of every headmate's gender! Although our "collective gender" is transfemmav and cirdielic, we have a lot of headmates with different genders and I (and Diem) am responsible of cataloguing them (along our with other identities).
Everyone has a "base aligment", like feminine, masculine, maverine, androgynous, and since many headmates lack complexity when it comes to their identity the ones with no connection to gender are classified as "gendernull" for practicality. Then we might add modifiers like fluidity (fluid, flux) or modality (trans, cis, iso). Then, if said headmate uses more specific labels (e.g.; a feminine and xenine aligned headmate who also identifies as fingender and floragender) we add those to aer profile. It's hard work since we're a huge polyplex and we have to map and survey every single headmate to figure aer genders but it's really fun too!

TRANSFEM HORNET FLAG ;; A Hornet (from Hollow Knight + Silksong) themed transfem flag, for those who associate Hornet with transfemininity, transfems who identify with/as Hornet, or those who are transfem just like Hornet is transfem.
EXTRA ;; Day 8 of the MOGAI ABCs coining event! A gift for Hornet of Daybreak Division.
PROMPT ;; What's your relationship with the concepts of friendship and family? are you out to your family and friends, if you have them?
IRIS ;; For context, we grew up in a very conservative household, and ran away in our late teens. We're no contact with most of our biological family but that gave us the opportunity to build our own family, mainly our fiancée, her family/social circles and our other partners. They're all accepting of us, despite having faced a lot of bigotry even to this day we have a support network and feel like we're thriving, mainly because of them.
HOST ;; We're 100% out as transfem maverique (or just nonbinary for those who don't know what maverique means) and lesbian but only our closest friends and partners know the details (like lesser known labels, plurality and alterhumanity). We're really happy with our current social life and our friends and family, they're all very understanding and they don't treat us like an alien or a freak, much the contrary, even when they aren't able to relate to our experiences they still make us feel like we belong. Having a found family and community brought us a sense of belonging we didn't realise we needed. We have always yearned for connection and intimacy and we're glad we finnaly have it.
MAV (with some imput from Marcy) ;; sometimes we feel like the evil transgender with its evil transgender agenda turning innocent cisgenders into fellow evil transgenders with our evil trans beam (saying that VERY jokingly). what i actually mean is i love to talk about gender and queerness with our friends and family. we don't exist as a queer person in a vaccum, our very existance affects our loved ones, thus we can help them understand us and understand themselves, we can be visibly queer and happy so they know they can be as well! sometimes the whole queer community feels like a big family... i have a really big heart and get easily emotional when i think about our friend circles and found family... we love them all so much qwq
JACKIE ;; i think we sorta operate on the basis of our identity being ours first and foremost, we dont have and dont want to proudly showcase our list of microlabels to every single person we know, it's like a private collection of paintings we only show to those we trust the most.

BELLADONNA LILY ;; A presentation term for belles (black femmes) who present their identity through delicate florals and soft shades of pink. Exclusive to bodily black (or mixed black) folks.
