this piece was part of a project i did a few years back for my experimental writing class at uni. honestly, i loved that class so deeply because it made me look at the workings of poetry under a whole new light. this project, titled “element”, was an exploration of the impermanent and fleeting through the incorporation/combination of poetry with the four natural elements: fire, water, earth, air.

I made a rough comic about the feelings I’ve come to while navigating my anxiety this year. “Hold on” seems like a more realistic goal than “get better”. It’s a small, strong thing to think about.

one day i’ll live in a little efficiency, some shitty, overwhelmingly tiny place, and i’ll have a dog, and i’ll be able to call my friends over and reminisce about high school and how good it was, how fun everything was, and we won’t talk about all the kids who died, or the ones who went missing. we won’t talk about the ones we killed.
