A Short Transgender Poem

When I came out at school all was okay,

But the next day I heard freak, disgusting, and unnatural,

But in 4th hour biology class you turned around in your seat and asked “What name do you want to be called?”

I said “I didn’t matter.” Because I had to much anxiety to tell you my name is Alex.

Then as you started to look down saying quietly “You make a cute trans boy.”

And that made my day. 

Then I started karate today and as I was walking really self-consciously into the place a child on the outside  pointed at me and said “Look that boy is a ninja!” 

The child’s babysitter smiled and said “Yes that boy does look like a ninja.”

 I smiled brightly in return and though the world needs more people like that child and less people who use freak, disgusting, and unnatural to describe a person.

Life...

I get really angry when I tell people my pronouns and name but when they talk to me they look me right in the eyes and say/use the wrong one...like dude...does this benefit you in any way?
