This is a genuine question, and I don't intend to be rude or anything,

How does "nonbinary lesbian" work? I know "gay" used to mean homosexual man but has extended to just anyone who is homosexual, but lesbian still usually means a homosexual woman.

this is a little hard to explain but it's different from the binary view of gender and sexuality

while most lesbians are binary women, lesbianism has always had a connection to gender diversity, especially because society sees being a lesbian as inherently gender non conforming

to be nonbinary and a lesbian you need to feel at least some connection to womanhood or femininity, otherwise if they didn't they wouldn't identify as a lesbian because it wouldn't feel right

it's VERY different per person, this is basically how it is for me specifically. another way to describe it is basically feeling like your gender is just lesbian, but that again only applies to certain people.
