#coming back to this kitails to rant a bit #its so nice to draw him happy #i never realized how much of my art of tails is him tensed #him being tired or baring his teeth in anger or fear like omg #or even just with half lidded tired eyes like ive been doing alot recently #like hes trying to come off as cool and laid back #i really do not know how to write positive stuff and it devistates me realizing it now #i can never draw him happy #and any time i do give him a smile its like awkard feeling #the same for anything else i draw but this is about him for now #i really wanna draw him loving and being loved but it never crosses my mind #ive been in denial of projecting onto him just cuz i dont like seeing myself in characters but aghhh T T #hes such a sad loser like me #im him and he is me #everyone always makes him grow up into some successful person #but i made him gifted kid to absolute loser failure bum like me sob #hhhhg #thank you guys for still liking him despite him being a loser #he means so much to me #ill have to draw some older kitails art to make it up to him sometime #the day you see pure happy tails art youll know something must have happened #i dont mean that in an ominous way

Sorry if you've answered this before, but I'm wondering, what methods did you use to learn form as well as you draw it now? I've always been really impressed by how you capture 3D shape in your art. Was it just using the characters' 3D model references a lot or did you do other kinds of studies?

most of my practice was from drawing the planes on what i drew, to get a sense of the form, its called planar analysis apparently its very prevalent in my old art

as well as just drawing random basic forms everyday i mostly draw cubes nowadays as my warm ups but i really need to get back to practicing other things hhh i didnt use 3d models at all to study and i still try not to, i mean i do look at them but i dont have them at my side when i draw those head refrences i made were mostly for others to use, i dont really look at them and my understanding of form is what helped me pick up 3d modeling pretty easily id say i also think having clean lines also helped me alot with how i constructed the forms of characters, tho i dont have the line confidence anymore 😭😭aughh

im also helping out on wcanimated. doing models sheets and animation drawovers definitely strengthed my ability to be more consistent and observant in both lines and forms its just all about consistent practice theres no shortcut to getting good you just have to do it over and over again 😔(this is something im still in denial of) one tip i can give is draw cube for the head instead of a sphere 👍
