您好,你可以叫我“誊录天量”或“TLTL”: “Translating To Learn”。
Greetings, you can call me TéngLù TiānLiàng (Copying Out A Massive Amount), or TLTL: Translating To Learn.
As you can probably guess, I am studying Simplified Mandarin Chinese. As someone who enjoys both writing and the process of translation, I decided to combine my interests in this blog to further and reinforce my learning. For posts tagged #Chinese (#中文), or #Original (#原文) you can expect to see Simplified Mandarin Chinese. For posts tagged #English (#英文), or #Translation (#翻译本), you can expect to see Standard British English.
For the sake of transparency: my posts will be machine - NOT AI - assisted. I am by no means a fluent writer, reader, nor speaker. These machines include my various dictionaries, learner apps, and phraseology checkers to ensure the quality of my translations and learning.
Unless stated otherwise, all translations are conducted without prior author consent, and are based on free-access material. I do not accept incentives nor reimbursement in any form whereby I might derive financial benefit, including donations and gifts. I believe profiting from another's work without either explicit or contractual agreement is unethical, potentially illegal, and antithesis to the well-being of shared creative spaces, which rely on mutual respect and support. I do, however, accept constructive feedback, comments, reblogs, and likes!
I am open to CN requests of any genre (including but not limited to derivative works, BL, and GL) from sites such as jjwxc, so long as they are accessible to European servers without a VPN. However, I do not guarantee the completion of any projects. As I am translating for its own sake, I may lose interest in a project or become unable to proceed due to paid-access chapters. In the latter case, should you purchase a paid-access chapter from a project I enjoyed and forward the raws to me, I will likely continue to translate it. Otherwise, feel free to promote my translations to see if another translator is willing to take it on.
Most posts will be accompanied by a follow-up post containing explanations for certain translation choices, questions, or things I found interesting. If I knowingly choose to translate something which another translator has already adopted, this is where I will provide a link to them and their translation as an alternate version and/or reference.
For now, I am exclusively on Tumblr. Should you find my translations elsewhere without my prior notice - especially if access is locked behind either user login or a subscription - please let me know.
