It started with brunch...
A month ago, The Breakfast Club convened at Paradou for a champagne brunch. I had just finished taking the Bar, and was going to get surgery in two days, so I was making the most of my last days of freedom.
Brunch started out rocky, we had a reservation for 6, and due to circumstances, it was party of 3. Bonus, they started serving me while I was waiting for Heather and Robin at the "bar". The bar is tiny, so I wouldn't really call it a bar, it had three bar stools.
For brunch on the weekends, Paradou has a brunch special which is unlimited champagne with a brunch entree for $29. I asked the bartender, and they go through 170 bottles of champagne for brunch on Saturdays! Sundays they go close to 200!
They have tons of flavors, no champagne mix is out of the question. Service was terrific, and they were super nice regarding the change from 6 to 3ppl.
We had our share of champagne that day. Heather and I then decided to head over the SoHo to do some shopping. The trip down to SoHo included a stop in Jane for the restrooms. We passed a few cigar shops, and since Dan enjoys the occasional cigar, I decided to get a few. Heather and I then decide it would be a good idea to light one up.
Heather and I don't smoke, nor do we smoke cigars, though we did try. I love that NYC is non-smoking, but when one walks down the street with a lit cigar attempting the shop, it becomes a problem. Although we did make our way through several high end galleries who did not mind the cigar.
We made our way to Circa Tabac, and continued the day drinking, which then at this point turned into night drinking. We had the cigar lit the entire time while we were looking for Circa Tabac, but of course Heather decides that she wants to put out the cigar as we are walking in (defeating the purpose of a smoking bar). Circa Tabac is one of the few bars one can still smoke in. That would have been great if we are smokers or had something to smoke.
We then made a brief visit to The Dutch, where we indulged in some food, which escapes me, but sorely needed at that time.
By this time, it was 8pm, and we had to stop by Dave's birthday at Fat Cat. It all seemed so harmless. A little ping pong (we sucked), some shuffleboard, and then we'd be on our way to my friend Ian's birthday. I turn around for a second, and the next thing I know, Heather's telling me she has a broken finger. She had put her finger on the top of the shuffleboard table, and a puck hit her finger. It was later confirmed t be a sprain, but it looked like Frankentein's finger for a week afterwards.
With the shuffleboard incident, we said our goodbyes, and I sent Heather home, and headed up to Ian's party. The day started at 11:30am, and didn't end until 2am.
