Well, unfortunately Athan is back in the hospital. He has been having pretty severe headaches, the Neurosurgeon ordered an MRI today and they saw increased fluid around his brain. He will be going under anesthesia tomorrow for for a full spine MRI with and without contrast. They will decide how to proceed after they review the images. Please keep Athan in your prayers and positive thoughts. Fear is paralyzing and gives me this feeling of uncertainty. Like what is happening to us or around us is out of our control. · 99.9% of the time, life is out of our control but that doesn’t stop us from trying to get a handle on it. I had a lot of anxiety and fear leading up to and during the spinal cord shunt surgery for Athan aka Captain America. The one thing that helped me keep it together was faith. The surgery went as planned and that was a huge relief. · But nothing in life is straight forward or simple. Captain America is having unseen complications after his surgery and I feel the same anxiety and fear I felt before Athan’s surgery. Athan came through his surgery great today. They placed the shunt in his spinal cord between L9 and L10. He is resting comfortably now and his pain is being managed. I hope tomorrow is as good as today was for pain.
