Kenny Dope - The Bomb! Brooklyn based Kenny Dope released this iconic dance anthem back in 1995. Admittedly, I had no idea until today the funky brass hook and the vocal hook are actually sampled from Chicago’s 1979 hit “Street Player.” Also, the original Chicago lyrics “Street sounds swirling through my mind” were reinterpreted to “These sounds fall into my mind” to highlight how such a catchy tune can "fall into your mind" or proverbially get stuck in your head. 🕺🏻🎶

Andy Duguid - C.H.I.C. German-Scottish producer Andy Duguid really goes deep when it comes to several of his vocal progressive trance tracks. The spoken words in CHIC, an acronym for Complete, Hybrid, Instrumental, Control, highlights four challenges the modern day human faces: how to actually feel complete, how to embrace and fuse our differences, how to have an meaningful impact, and how to take control of our lives. It's really a feel good track with an uplifting drop rhythm. 🎶👍 "A feeling we may never truly achieve or understand. Always yearning for something that may not really exist. Something you can't see, you can't feel, but when you find it, you will know what it is to truly feel complete. In this ever changing world, we are the ones who must adapt. Like cogs in a continuous wheel within our own lives, all with our own individual traits and identities which make us all unique. We are hybrids. Together we are strong. Nora En Pure - Lake Arrowhead Warm summertime vibes are emitted by this beachy Nora En Pure track. Lake Arrowhead (2016) is a prime example of her music which is currently a distinctly recognizable gem in the deep house and lounge scene. Her music typically contains a signature rhythm incorporating joyful piano chords with actual organic sounds captured from nature, such as rain drops and crashing waves. 🎶🏖🌧🌊

Seal & Jakatta - My Vision (Myon & Shane 54 remix) Remix stacked on remix of this Seal classic from 2002, which originally sampled a piano hook from a noticeable Thomas Newman track from the stellar film Shawshank Redemption. Jakatta initially added a percussive rhythm to the track, with Myon & Shane 54 later on adding some extra flare.

Andrew Bayer - "Do Androids Dream" EP Drawing from his fascination of the sci-fi classic film Blade Runner (several other of his past songs were inspired by the film), Andrew Bayer generated this seamless five-chapter EP, which embodies several symbolic elements of the film: futuristic industrial sounds, “superhuman” androids, and a thought-provoking ending.

MAN! This dude passionately jams out with such bravado in covering Eric Prydz's Pjanoo. He even throws in a few arm thrusts in the air while busting a few moves in his fancy blue suit. He needs to get on Germany's equivalent to America's Got Talent. 🙌

Sampling a vocal hook from Funky Green Dog’s Fired Up (1996), 16 Bit Lolitas generated this hypnotic deep house hit back in 2014. 😎 🎶 🙌

Dusky - Lost in You "'Cause nothing's better than the here and now..."

This bumpin track challenges and encourages the listener to do many difficult but worthwhile things: to try new experiences, to take risks, to be vulnerable, to not be afraid to fail, to be in the moment. And Matthew Koma's vocals do an excellent job driving home these exhortations: "I dare you to love. I dare you to cry. I dare you to run. I dare you to try. I dare you to fall and lay on the ground. I dare you to feel. I dare you to be here now."

"On and on and on we're awake in our colors. On and on and on we won't fade for each other." Excellent words to live by, especially during this time of year highlighting the non-fading presence and accomplishments of LGBT people. 🏳️‍🌈

"You got to keep your ideals high. You got to know that the sky belongs to no one. You know you got to go" In this track back from 2011, A&B exhorts the listener to take action in identifying their dreams/passions and in persevering to make them a reality. A carpe diem approach to life. It all begins with physically, or symbolically, "moving your feet." 🏃🕺🏻

"Sometimes it appears that we are a reaching a period when our senses and our minds will no longer respond to moderate stimulation" From a cognitive psychological point of view, I personally agree with this concept. As great as the current tech age is, I feel like many of our lives are being incessantly inundated with copious amounts of news, music, news, videos, news, oh and more news! On one hand, immediate access to all types of info/data/media is surely a wonderful privilege to have in our lifetime, but overexposure, overconsumption, and overindulgence of this can be stifling and desensitizing if not moderately approached. I feel like this concept has been highlighted in several episodes of the awesome series Black Mirror; it makes me wonder how it'll affect the collective human psyche in the future.
