MAY: the Planting Moon or Milk Moon. The full moon in May this year just happens to be on the 11th at 14:29GMT (and it’s in Scorpio if you care). Also found was the following obsolete definition in the OED: Milk of the Moon: A white, porous, friable, insipid earth, frequently found in the form of white farinaceous powder, but sometimes concreted into a mass, not unlike agaric. (Chambers Cycl. 1727-52) And as if that wasn’t enough, there was also the reference to Italo Calvino’s story in Cosmicomics titled “The Distance of the Moon,” in which two men periodically travel to the moon when it’s orbit brings it close enough to the earth for them to climb on and gather Moon Milk. For those who are curious about the other names of the full moons they are listed below:

DECEMBER - the Moon Before Yule, or Long Night Moon. In a December with two full moons, the second of these title should apply to the second of them.

I missed posting about the equinox for the first time in a decade? Maybe it hit me that hard or maybe I’m still reckoning with the ongoing out of body experience of the last year of caregiving for a loved one with cancer during covid. I’m definitely not the same person I was before any of this started and like obviously but also I can’t see who that person was right now. I’m doing an immense amount of work in therapy to let myself have things--moments for myself, however small. Stage four cancer flattens everything around it like a bomb. It is torture. Living life then being two steps from death then living life again maybe. My therapist is just trying to help me stay alive and emotionally viable. I definitely don’t remember who I was almost 15 years ago when I first started talking here about the moon and school and my emotions. I’m going to sleep around 3am every night and waking up around 11. Haven’t had a drink in a year? I eat a LOT of gummy bears. I left the apt maybe 75 times last year? I listen to O2 machine at night and I sink into my bed like Renton listening to the meditation radio stations. I told someone recently that If I say I love you I’m all in I’m in love romantic and otherwise and will do whatever it takes to keep at it forever. And I do. I love you.

How to Suffer Politely (And Other Etiquette for the Lumpenproletariat), (Deep Matte Polio Digital C-Print, 2014) A series of aphoristic posters that explore the intersections of the (performance of) suffering with respectability politics.
