Can I give my two cents on the controversial issue of “separating the art from the artist” that no one asked for?

Okay, I’m a songwriter and a poet. I personally agree with the idea that art stops being yours when it is given to the world. “But it has the artists world view”- so change it. Give it your own meaning. Give the song a good meaning, think of it as a reflection of evil and what to avoid, think of the meaning of the song and change it to something comforting. You own it now. Also, more than one person or the lead singer goes into making a song. There’s tons of people that go into getting a song out there, don’t reduce those people’s work into nothing because one person was evil.

Music artists get less than a U.S CENT if you listen to their music. They will be listened to forever regardless if famous enough and their music is good enough.

So, yes, I believe you can seperate the art from the artist as long as that only pertains to listening to them on Spotify or something. Listen to that music on your phone for all I care, and people might attack you, but remember: THERE IS NO PERFECT ARTIST. AS SOMEONE WHO HAS TRIED, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MIND IF YOU TRY TO ONLY LISTEN TO GOOD PEOPLE.

Use your own judgement. If you like music, listen to it.

And don’t forget to eat and drink water today. 🫶
