TRIAL VERSION VOLA IN RUSSIA
Grazie al supporto dell’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di San Pietroburgo, dal 16 al 22 settembre 2015 Trial Version ha partecipato al festival Arts for the City, quest’anno alla sua prima edizione e coordinato da Alexandra Nenko (Ph.D. in sociologia).
Arts for the City è un progetto avviato a San Pietroburgo (RUS) dall'European National Institutes of Culture network (EUNIC) e dal Centre for German and European Studies (St.Petersburg State University – Bielefeld University). E’ una piattaforma che invita collettivi artistici e ricercatori internazionali a risiedere per un periodo in città, con lo scopo di attivare un dialogo culturale tra l’Europa e la Russia, ed incentivare uno scambio interdisciplinare tra diversi operatori culturali. Il principale obiettivo del progetto è quello di utilizzare l’arte come strumento di cambiamento dello spazio urbano, attraverso un coinvolgimento diretto dei cittadini.
Trial Version (qui rappresentato da Elena Mazzi e Michela Lupieri) è stato invitato da Alexandra Nenko a riflettere su una particolare area della città: il distretto Vyborg nella prima periferia di San Pietroburgo. Qui, in collaborazione con la sociologa Alexandra Nenko, ha realizzato il gioco “Spread the word” (http://arts4city.com/completed/art-project/) basato sul principio del telefono senza fili. Occupando per tre giorni lo spazio di un parco giochi, Trial Version ha coinvolto i cittadini in un gioco/ performance collettivo, annullando le barriere linguistiche, geografiche e disciplinari.
Inoltre ha partecipato ai due eventi pubblici “Revializing urban spaces as art practice” e “Formula of the 3Ps: Public art, Periphery, Participation” (http://arts4city.com/completed/public-events/) all’interno del Art Prospect Festival 2015.
Il primo evento, coordinato da Alexandra Nenko, è stato realizzato al Tayga creative space e ha visto la partecipazione di Trial Version (ITA), Flux Factory (USA), Kendal Henry (USA), pro_spectus (BLR), Jess Hirsh (USA). Il secondo evento, moderato da Oleg Pachenkov, è stato realizzato al Yarky Hostel & Space e ha visto la partecipazione di Trial Version (ITA), Elastic City (USA), Gorod Ustinov (RUS), Jess Hirsh insieme ai vari partecipanti dell’Art Prospekt Festival 2015. I temi affrontati in entrambe le serate hanno toccato differenti problematiche inerenti la sfera dell’arte nello spazio pubblico e la centralità dei cittadini nell’evento artistico.

From September 16th to 22th 2015, Trial Version took part at Arts for the City festival, thanks to the support of Italian Cultural Institute. In this first edition, Arts for the City has been coordinated by Alexandra Nenko (Ph.D. in sociology).
Arts for the City is a project based in St. Petersburg (RUS) launched by European National Institutes of Culture network (EUNIC) and Centre for German and European Studies (St. Petersburg State University – Bielefeld University). It is a platform which invites international art collectives and researches to do short-period investigations in the city. The aim of the project is to activate a cultural dialogue between European and Russian cultural producers, stimulating an interdisciplinary exchange and use art as a tool to work on urban spaces involving citizens as a participants authors.
Trial Version (represented by Elena Mazzi and Michela Lupieri) has been invited by Alexandra Nenko to operate in Vyborg: a specific suburban area in St. Petersburg. Here, in collaboration with Alexandra Nenko, Trial Version has realized “Spread the word” (http://arts4city.com/completed/art-project/) an interactive game based on Chinese Whisper.
For three days the Italian collective has been present in a recreation ground in the neighborhood, involving citizens to take part in the game. In this way linguistic, geographical and disciplinary barriers has been overcome by a collective action.
Moreover Trial Version has partecipated in two public discussions “Revializing urban spaces as art practice” and “Formula of the 3Ps: Public art, Periphery, Participation” (http://arts4city.com/completed/public-events/) linked with Art Prospect Festival 2015.
The first event, coordinated by Alexandra Nenko, it has been realized at Tayga creative space. The participants were Trial Version (ITA), Flux Factory (USA), Kendal Henry (USA), pro_spectus (BLR), Jess Hirsh (USA). The second event, coordinated by Oleg Pachenkov, it has been realized at Yarky Hostel & Space. The participants were Trial Version (ITA), Elastic City (USA), Gorod Ustinov (RUS), Jess Hirsh plus artists involved in Art Prospekt Festival 2015. In both event the discussion concerned art in a public space and the central and active role of the citizens in the artistic event.
